Former U.S. Congressman Walter Fauntroy was among the foreigners trapped in the Rexos Hotel in the Libyan capital of Tripoli.
An associate of Martin Luther King, Fauntroy, 78, arrived in Libya a week ago as a part of a peace mission.
Fauntroy, pastor of the New Bethel Baptist Church, had warned the danger he and the journalists faced.
"As a minister who believes in the fervent and effective prayers of the righteous, I have joined with Dr. K.A. Paul in an appeal to people ... to pray for deliverance for not only us, but the press corps.

There is no evidence for this charge. It is a lie.
But, I hope the old guy gets out OK.

Although a non-final-voting Congressman ... He is NOT a Congressman - he is a Delegate to Congress [that is what the legislation giving him that status says] who CANNOT vote on legislation [voting in committee and introducing legislation only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades] ... Basically, he is a guest !!!

I can tell you there is a great deal of chatter at the State Department over this. This could finally force troops on the ground. Fauntleroy marched with MLK, Jr. How many black votes would Obama get if he doesn't rescue an old-school civil rights activist? There is no chance any ground troops will show up to rescue this clown. Black voters are going to swing for Obama 90%+, rain or shine. Some washed up old hustler still pretending it's 1961 isn't worth the time it would take Barack Obama in 2011 to explain the occurrence of a single American casualty to the rest of the country.
Barry's hands have stayed clean as can be regarding Libya. He's not going into Tripoli to dirty them now. If this old fool gets capped, it's not going to hurt him .01% with black voters.

In 1970 President Nixon signed a bill giving the District one non-voting at-large delegate to Congress. Technically, they are members of Congress.

Eleanor Norton Holmes, Fauntroy’s successor, notes, “Mrs Fauntroy did not know the circumstances of Reverend Fauntroy’s visit to Libya. He told her of the trip only shortly before his departure in order to prevent her from worrying.”
The State Department was also completely unaware of his plans. This is a major complication for all.

Technically, they are members of Congress. BUT, NOT CONGRESSMEN or CONGRESSWOMEN - the Constitution ONLY specifies Congressmen/women from the STATES ...
They are DELEGATES !!! On par with the delegates from the American territories ...

Let’s face reality here. A radical leftist disseminating calculated propaganda targeting patriotic Americans is likely to be a communist sympathizer, or a member of one or another branch of the communist party.
Yes, pray for him.

From the Office of the Clerk of the House of Representatives, US Congress.
http://clerk.house.gov/member_info/memberfaq.aspx
"The Office of Delegate was established by ordinance from the Continental Congress (17741789) and confirmed by a law of Congress. From the beginning of the Republic, accordingly, the House has admitted delegates from Territories or districts organized by law."
"delegates and the resident commissioner possess the same powers as other Members of the House"
"other Members of the House" means that Delegates are are technically members of Congress. Of course not full voting members, but that was never claimed.

Racist, Anti-American, Communist bastard... I hope he never makes it out. Why do we wish our enemies well? This man is a Christian preacher in the same vein as Rev. Wright. “Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name?”
