The president made the decision to cut short his family vacation on Martha's Vineyard shortly after addressing the nation about the impending danger of Hurricane Irene, which he said has the potential to be "historic."
Obama is expected to arrive back at the White House on Friday evening. His family will remain on the Vineyard through Saturday morning.

Apparently this purely political decision overcame his passive-aggressive and entitlement compulsions. Obama, finally, has been convinced to smell a greater opportunity. Moo-chele doesn't need to concern herself with polling. She can enjoy another paltry half-day outing, and a Vineyard dinner and breakfast.
Have you ever seen anything like it? Awash in unearned wealth, they cannot escape the "you-owe-me mentality" of the emotionally enslaved class they were spawned from and now brazenly manipulate.
They are leaving exactly as they arrived --- hours apart, tone-deaf, and pathologically dysfunctional.

I think that someone said that he was being criticized for staying on vacation, but just watch ... he would swoop into DC at the eleventh hour so that folks could say, “See... I told you he cares!”

Obama has apparently changed HIS plans to accommodate Michelle because your Politico link is now saying they ALL will leave tomorrow morning around 11 am.
"A spokesman for first lady Michelle Obama said she and the Obama’s two daughters will return with him.
Obama was expected to depart at 11 a.m. Saturday." ---NOT Friday evening.

Totally agree with you! August is probably the best month in D.C. because all those who work to find ways to mess with us are on vacation. If I had my way the Congress would only work two months out of the year.
