Al-Qaida's second-in-command, Atiyah Abd al-Rahman, has been killed in Pakistan, delivering another big blow to a terrorist group that the U.S. believes to be on the verge of defeat, a senior Obama administration official said Saturday.

The Libyan national who was the network's former operational leader rose to al-Qaida's No. 2 spot after the U.S. killed al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden during a raid on his Pakistan compound in May.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said last month that al-Qaida's defeat was within reach if the U.S. could mount a string of successful attacks on the group's weakened leadership.

They always mamage to get the #2.

Ayman al-Zawahiri was the number 2 until the death of Osama bin Laden. He is still alive. They have gotten a lot of the number 3 guys because they are operations leaders. By the nature of their work they have to communicate with the guys actually doing the killings which make them far more vulnerable.

This is about patting ourselves on the back & self entertainment.

Roughly, for every 3 AQ operative killed, 6 more come onto the scene. The issue here is to subdue Islam as an *ideology* (religion), which has been intertwined with politics, since its inception by Mohammad . Discourage the conversion of non-moslems to Islam from across the board of races included.

There is absolutely no point in killing the Taliban or AQ members, and same time negotiating with them. Nor, in facilitating Islam to permeate by differentiating between its various shades & forms. Islam, as a whole, is on the rise. The West has & helps it to be. It should be about discouraging Islam as a whole.

Our nations politicians STILL have not identified the enemy....and those who have are up against those who desire political gain over our nations security, and I fear greatly it is too late...they have bases all over our nations and politicians actually helping to establish these. I want to cry for what is to come!

Al Queda is just a small part of the Global Jihad.

And the draw almost all of the western world's wrath, leaving the rest to do pretty much as they please. They're small, but incredibly useful.

For the record & posterity perhaps, the quote below is a very interesting historical one, regarding the Arab-Islam invasion of (infidel Zoroatrian) Iran in the 7th century AD.

Note: the same approach by the Khomeinists (Arabic-Islamic) regime of Iran starting in 1979 to this day, and Islamics in general, applies to Iranian people, and *OTHER* races or nations (Western ones included) - generally, *INFIDELS*

“If you wish to tame them (Iranians or infidels), remember that they cannot be kept in rein except with method of caliph Omar [i.e. the 2nd caliph, one of Mohammad’s immediate disciples, whose armies began the conquest of the Sassanid Empire of Iran].

It continued: These people, you ought to humiliate.

You ought to hit their heads so hard that they cannot raise them. Reduce their income to a minimum, and give them as little sustenance as possible. They are best kept in check when hungry. Because, once they are well fed the first thing they think of is revolt.

On the war front, dispatch them to the front-line so that they become the first targets of the enemy. Make sure they are inflicted with whatever hardship and punishment possible. I repeat: humiliate & crush them, and see how they bow their heads to your.” — (source: Tarikh al Tawarikh [History of Histories], vol.2. Also quoted in Javad Fazel, Maasoum Chahrom [The Fourth Infallible One], p, 88.

The above was said some 13 centuries ago. But, think carefully how a similar strategy, may relate to a current or future situation in the West. As well as people in charge in the USA, herself, to humiliate the American People.

The workers comp premiums for an al Qaeda #2 must be astronomical.
