IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.
I was hoping Perry would be better on his feet than he was last night. Of course, this is his first debate so now my hope is that we see improvement in future debates. He seemed to be searching for his responses to the questions and didn’t have the polish he’s going to need for the general election. That said, he did well given that the MSNBC leftists came after him with both barrels. Their lame attempt at making accusations appear to be questions was about as transparent as it gets. I think even Perry was surprised by this. Hopefully, this will serve as a learning experience for him and he’ll be better prepared in the future.
Perry clearly was unable to do so. He just kept repeating "it's a Ponzi scheme." Show me what facts and arguments he presented to back it up. You can't, because he didn't give any.
In case you don't know, being correct is not good enough. You have to be able to persuade people that you are correct.
Agreed. And I think Huntsman had a good showing as well.
Rationalization of poor performance.
I didn’t see the debate, but I think his answer there was a home run. Not for you and me, but the answer was not for us. It drives a point home that, once he gets the nomination, you can pretty much guarantee he will hammer home over and over.
With pictures. 8->
He was answering questions to appeal to the dems and undecideds. The other Repub candidates just happened to be there. I’m getting the impression he didn’t really care about that very much though. He doesn’t seem to be going for the nomination. He seems to be going for the presidency.
Interesting strategy.
Maybe, but like Romney, Huntsman will not be getting my vote. Not a chance.
He can kiss away the senior vote for starters, and...
A response worthy of an Algore moment. A very WEIRD RESPONSE by Perry. Seemed like he didn't want to answer the question and made a weird turn to deflect the subject matter. Did the aliens finally take over the Manchurian candidate?....
HARRIS: Governor Perry, as we approach the 9/11 anniversary, I'd like to stick with national security for a moment. You recently said, quote, "I do not believe that America should fall subject to a foreign policy of military adventurism." Looking back, do you think President George W. Bush was too quick to launch military intervention without thinking through the risks?
PERRY: I was making a comment about a philosophy; I don't think America needs to be in the business of adventurism.
But let me just say something about the president of the United States. And I know he's -- he's taken lots of slings and arrows here today. But one thing that I want to say that he did do that I agree with is that he maintained the -- the chase and -- and we took out a very bad man in the form of bin Laden, and I -- and I tip my hat to him.
I give more props to those Navy SEALs that did the job, but -- and the other thing this president's done, he has proven for once and for all that government spending will not create one job. Keynesian policy and Keynesian theory is now done. We'll never have to have that experiment on America again. And I might add that he kept Gitmo open against the will of his base, and I'm glad he did that. America's safer for it.

>> Do they have alpha males in Boston? New York?
They have alpha metrosexuals, but it’s not quite the same thing.
I can't help but believe this statement is nearly always used when a person is unhappy with the media coverage or success of their personal favorite candidate.
I think the media simply focuses on the strongest candidates and this is just human nature.
I wasn't impressed with Cain at all, and I honestly don't take him seriously.
Palin--If she runs, as I've said before, she has the opportunity to win me over. It won't be easy, but it's not out of the question.
And after watching Perry's awful performance last night, I found myself agreeing with those who say Palin won last night. So there--we're in agreement on that, I'll bet.
—Perry is so far standing by his prior statements on SS.—
I confess that, although I’ll be ready for SS in just a few years, I really don’t care for what he has to say about SS unless it is something really radical.
However, if what you say is true, it does sound like he is standing by his principles and not flip-flopping. It would be a good exercise to find out what principles, exactly, shape his position. It’s like when Jerry brown just vetoed that ski helmet legislation. What impressed me was not that he vetoed it. It was his well articulated REASON for doing it. It was, frankly, something you would have expected a strong libertarian to have said.
He looked like he hadn't had any sleep and was road weary.
I can’ imagine he got any rest before the debate which could explain his demeanor and lack of effectiveness.
>> if this is the best we’re going to get out of him, then the other candidates need not worry about him at all.
Excellent! Then I presume *your* (non)-candidate won’t be needing your constant hatchet jobs on him any more? That’s GREAT news!
Rationalizing poor performance.
I don't know anything in depth about the candidates save for Romney & Paul . . . I'm just going on what I saw last night. Not saying I'd vote for Huntsman either; just saying I thought he did well.
“Hatchet Job”
Truth hurts?
It is a Ponzi scheme. You need increasing numbers of bottom investors to feed the recipients at the top. Because we aborted 50 million of the last generation we are running out of lower tier investors. If it wasn't for all the illegal aliens giving birth to anchor babies, the system would be destined to collapse in the next 10 years. But if they ever start aborting their children or start practicing birth control, then the system will collapse even sooner. Nobody needs to explain how it is a Ponzi scheme. It is what it is. Tell me why it isn't.
I was hoping Perry would fire his sidearm into the air to officially kick off the debate
What will interest me is how and if Perry improves in the next few debates. If he improves, then he is obviously paying attention to the importance of getting the message across.
So, at the moment, I am cautiously pleased with Perry's performance last night.
