Obama Urges Congress to Pass $450 Billion Jobs Plan (American Jobs Act)
FoxNews ^ | 9/8/11

Seeking to boost a slumping economy along with his hopes for re-election, President Obama unveiled his $450 billion jobs plan Thursday night in a highly-anticipated speech to a joint session of Congress.

The American Jobs Act contains a blend of infrastructure spending, tax relief, unemployment assistance and other aid. All the proposals are paid for with spending cuts although the president isn’t expected to detail them until next week.

“There should be nothing controversial about this piece of legislation,” Obama said in excerpts released by the White House ahead of his speech. “Everything in here is the kind of proposal that’s been supported by both Democrats and Republicans – including many who sit here tonight."

Let me see if I have this straight, Social Security is in somewhat dire fiscal straits and is currently scheduled to go broke sometime in the next (varying with whose estimating) 10, 20, or 30 years. We currently have a payroll tax cut and the President wants to cut payroll taxes even more. Does anyone else have a problem with the math???

I mean how can you cut the only source of funding for a program already destined to go broke and not accelerate its demise?

Did I just step into an alternate universe of something?

I know Americans have short, virtually non-existent memories but how can anyone take this seriously? This man has never cared about jobs or people.

Stock market in the tank, O goes golfing.
Natural disasters - O goes golfing
Tent cities spring up for the homeless - O goes on vacation.

Tell me the sheeple aren’t going to fall for this, please.

Hey why don't we put 100,000 Americans to work building a border fence.

We can tax the illegals that are already here to fund the project.

Well, if Moochelle would stop flying all over creation on a government jet the size of a Boeing 767 at taxpayer expense, that would probably pay for half of Obama’s “jobs” program.

Little Stevie Dunham sounded like a tv commercial barker for the crappiest POS:

All I heard was “Pass it now....pass it now...pass it now...”
I was waiting for him to say: “But WAIT! There’s MORE!”

I think what we all have seen was the MOST fiscally sound government program able to take the hit right now and not affect the bond market.

They polled that $300 billion was actually going to be passed and the blame would lay on Obama. It may be $600 billion by tomorrow. That way, when it doesn’t pass, they can blame it on the GOP.

"The Super committee hasn’t got the new debt limit plan in place yet, so we can spend spend spend!"

The new super committee hasn't cut a dime off the current $14 trillion dollar deficit, so what "cuts" are going to pay for the latest Ponzi scheme?

OK, so lemme get this straight: another half trillion dollars of government spending is the solution for the weak economy?

Nothing follows...

“”run hillary run””

If you got a gander at her at tonight’s speech, you might want to re-word that. She isn’t capable of running anywhere!

Oh! you meant - in 2012? From the looks of her, she’ll be in alcohol rehab before then...

So the proposal is paid for with spending cuts, thus it's budget-neutral?

How about just doing the spending cuts all by themselves?

The American Jobs Act contains a blend of infrastructure spending, tax relief, unemployment assistance and other aid.

Translation: This is Stimulus Part Deux. We know how well Part One worked out: no jobs created (in fact: jobs destroyed) and a higher unemployment rate than they said we'd have if it wasn't passed.

Exactly what was "new" about this political grandstanding?
