Napolitano, FBI Give Non-Answers to Questions Surrounding Operation Fast and Furious
Townhall.com ^ | September 13, 2011 | Katie Pavlich

Posted on 09/13/2011 12:19:46 PM PDT by Kaslin

Despite ATF Special Agent William Newell admitting in sworn testimony that mutiple government agencies, including the FBI and DHS, were responsible for the development and implementation of Operation Fast and Furious, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitiano and FBI Director Robert Mueller denied knowing anything about the operation until Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was killed with guns from the program and avoided getting into details about their involvement by referring the case to the Inspector General in the Justice Department and citing an "on-going investigation" when asked by Arizona Senator John McCain recently on Capitol Hill. On top of Newell's testimony, President Obama called for a complete review of current gun control policies in April 2009:

“Our focus is to work with Secretary Napolitano, Attorney General Holder, our entire Homeland Security team, ATF, border security, everybody who is involved with this to coordinate with our counterparts in Mexico to significantly ramp up our enforcement of existing laws. In fact, I’ve asked Eric Holder to do a complete review of how our current enforcement operations our working and make sure we are cutting down on the loop holes that are causing some of these drug trafficking problems."

The Operation Fast and Furious questioning starts at 2:50:

"I don't have specifics." -Mueller

SENATOR JOHN McCAIN AT THE HOMELAND SECURITY AND GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

Keep in mind, Operation Fast and Furious is an Obama Justice Department program. Although other agencies were involved, the officials most heavily involved are from ATF (which falls under the jurisdiction of the Justice Department) and the DOJ. In fact, internal emails show information about the program coming directly from Washington D.C. An internal investigation from the DOJ Inspector General will get us nowhere. Luckily, we have Rep. Darrell Issa and Senator Chuck Grassley to get us some answers as they are investigation the DOJ, not conducting an investigation with the DOJ. This "on-going internal investigation" is just a way for officials within the Obama Justice Department and the White House to buy time, and cover up what really went on with Fast and Furious.

A little reminder at 2:27:

"We are investigating you, your organization. The Executive Branch above the Phoenix office is what we are investigating. We want to know what felony stupid, bad judgement led to allowing this program at the highest level." -Rep. Issa

The only way the official story makes any sense is if random murders were an obvious & accepted part of the “sting” operation. Deliberate losing track of the arms just to see where they’d show up requires occurrence of violent crimes for locating the “lost” arms - which being originated in one country and intended to be found in another requires approval of someone given international-issue jurisdiction, which in this case (Melson -> Holder -> ?) goes straight thru the Oval Office.

The biggest difference between this group and Sgt. Shultz is that the good Sgt was somewhat competent and a lot more honest.

Every last one of them knew. In fact, I’d bet there were people within the MSM who knew. They were all on the same page on the same day, when that “evil gun dealers” media blitz started. Calderon was on the same page, and as far as I know, he has yet to utter the words “gunwalker” or “fast and furious”, so I keep wondering if he also knew.

Boy we’re in a mell of a hess, aren’t we...the person in charge of our national security claim they didn’t even know their own people were hieing guns across that southern bother and allowing them to kill Mexican Nationals.

I bet she certainly hasn’t a freaking clue what’s coming back at us, either.

I’ve seen kindergarteners not miss a trick of what’s going on around them in the classroom or the school.

See until Dean spilled the beans on the white house recording system you could never prove Dick was really dirty.
Until Monica came forth with a rather fat girls ugly blue dress with Billys semen coating areas you always maybe had some doubts Bill was garbage.
Will something these dirtbags have forgotten or can’t control come along and bite the Obammy presidency???

The difference is that if Dean and Monica had sat quietly instead, no demonstrable harm done and nobody to prosecute for anything (save a tangential misdemeanor B&E). Here, we have a solid chain of guilt wherein each link has the option of either turning evidence or getting extradited for felony murder - quite the motivator to rat the next one out.

Maybe and maybe not.

However, indicting US Attorney for Az and Janet Napolitanos chief of staff for 6 years as accessory to murder of a Federal Officer, Obstruction of Justice, falsifying documents for starters would no doubt generate some very interesting states evidence.

Mr Puke needs have some pressure applied and the chance to spend the rest of his life in Florence Prison would be a nice motivational tool.

I posted this same idea on another thread.

There is an angle to this which I had not thought of before.

I think this whole setup was a collaboration between the media and Obama’s regime. Remember for the last few years how much the media has been drumming up support for blaming American gun owners for Mexican violence?

Now I doubt they all sat around in a smoke filled room and sketched out how they would jointly run the operation. I suspect it was a word here or there and an acknowledgement or so to the point that both knew what was going on.

Of course I could be wrong and they really did meet at say a backroom during a media day at the white house.

That is why the media are giving the story very little coverage and what they do is to claim it was a good idea not carried out properly, when in fact it was carried out exactly like they wanted except they didn’t expect anyone to call them on it. And so far no one really has.

But they didn’t “lose track”. The FBI informants were the ones with the firearms. They didn’t have to track them. So the “stated goal” of the op is horsesh!t. The actual goal was to provide US guns in Mexico to give some cover to the lie they were hoping to pedal about needing more anti gun laws.

My SOP is to take the official story, whatever official story, and run with it to the logical conclusion. In this case, if they admit it was an international sting to identify where the guns ended up then they had to accept random people in another country would die so the location of the guns could be identified - which means that the ATF head (Melson) had to get Attorney General approval (Holder) who had to get POTUS approval (Obama). If the official line is enough to get him incarcerated, I’m content with it though surprised he couldn’t come up with a better story.

If it was an international operation, it is a safe bet that the State Department was involved, too (operation Castaway, for instance), and that means Hillary had to know.

Mueller is hip deep in this.

Bobby two-sticks? [Robert Mueller II] Oh yes.

But it goes MUCH higher than that....

Here's your list, right from the horse's mouth:

March 23, 2010:SECRETARY [OF STATE HILLARY] CLINTON: Well, good afternoon. And let me begin by thanking the Foreign Secretary and the Government of Mexico for hosting these very important discussions today. We have had the opportunity to delve into many areas of common concern that lie at the heart of the Merida Initiative and our shared responsibility to combat and defeat organized transnational crime. We’re looking forward to continuing this conversation in the weeks and months ahead. We will be seeing President Calderon later today because the United States strongly supports his courageous campaign against violent criminal organizations on behalf of the Mexican people. And we honor the service and sacrifice of Mexico’s men and women in uniform in the military and in the police forces. ... .

It’s an honor to be joined here in Mexico by a very significant delegation from the Obama Administration. Defense Secretary Gates, Homeland Security Secretary Napolitano, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Admiral Mullen, Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair, Deputy National Security Advisor John Brennan, Acting Deputy Attorney General Grindler, Acting Administrator of the DEA Michele Leonhart, Director of the Office of Foreign Assets in the Treasury Department Adam Szubin, Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy Gil Kerlikowske, Ambassador Pascual, and a wide range of senior officials, all of whom are committed to this unique partnership that we are exhibiting today.

Our broad engagement allows us to come at these problems from many different angles, to devise cross-cutting solutions, to ensure that our two governments are working hand-in-hand, not just at the ministerial level but all the way down our bureaucracies.

We are expanding the Merida Initiative beyond what it was traditionally considered to be, because it is not just about security. Yes, that is paramount, but it is also about institution building. It is about reaching out to and including communities and civil society, and working together to spur social and economic development.
