Very insightful - and 'inciteful' - article. I've pondered the same things myself. Women want government to take the place of hubby.

Other areas of womens behavior, such as fashion, are communicated through advertising and multimedia promotion. I believe many women have become more prone to accepting ideas promoted through advertisements and peer attitudes. This plays out well for liberals, too. Of course, this is a generalization.

Strong and independent feminists are looking for a husband or father in the government. Somebody to protect them and provide for them. Everything about “progressivism” is twisted and deranged.

Hey, don’t be painting with a broad brush there. I’ve never wanted government to do anything for me except provide a military. I don’t even want the post office.

It's a Dickens world out there, and women don't think that's fair. Women as a voting block confuse communicating their feelings about matters with the role of government.

The government is not your therapist. They do the same thing with police every time. Women call the police because of reason X and then can't understand why someone is going to jail (or worse).

What a Perfect Response. It seems women have been sold a huge bill of goods by the feminist movement (war to make room for ugly chicks). They have removed the testosterone from a whole generation of men so now they want the government to tell them what to do because genetically they require guidance. The truth often hurts.

I’ve said since the early 1970’s that men and women both want freedom and security, but there is a huge divide.

I’ve heard tell that if you have two men who’s first three priorities are Family, health and career, that the order in which they place those priorities can make them completely different ment. I believe it’s true. The man who orders them Family, health, career will be a completely different person than one who orders them career, health family. For the latter, don’t expect him to be at the kids little league games. For the former, don’t expect him to claw his way to the top while watching said games.

And to the topic at hand, women value security over freedom and autonomy over their own life. men value freedom over security.

To quote GK Chesterson:
“The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking; he can ruin himself with gambling. If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.”

Notice he said “man”, and not “woman”.

And giving women the vote is what has caused the relatively swift dash to socialism we’ve seen. Not saying it’s bad or good, but just that it’s the kind of government you get when you add the female vote to that of the men who do vote for security over freedom. It is inevitable and totally predictable.

Great article! The author missed another phenomenon - males raised by females. Males raised without training in becoming and being male revert to the innate "Lord of the Flies" mode further debasing the male currency.

This is a direct result of no fault divorce and government sponsored out-of-wedlock pregnancy.

What he says is true, but I imagine is deeply, deeply offensive to most modern day women.

The author nails it.....women follow their emotions far more than men, so liberalism appeals to that aspect.

Also, conservatism is rugged individualism. Women are genetically predisposed to couple with a man, not do all things themselves.

The mother instinct also is a factor.....taking care of the weak, hurt or defenseless appeals to women.

Finally, liberals always use “the children” to prop up their horrible ideas. Women love children.

I don’t know about as a replacement (I can only speak from a conservative POV though) but we probably do look for the same qualities in the person who runs our country as the person at the head of our family.

Since there is a big difference between what conservative women and liberal women admire and look for in men, this also shows in the qualities we admire (and vote for) in a president.

Government makes no “demands” for the support, you know, like being polite and decent and loyal.

Yes, it’s a persistent pattern—but not as large as most people imagine. Just about 4 women out of 100 vote more liberally than an equivalent 100 men would vote.

We made the mistake of giving females the right to vote and we are now paying for it.

Women vote disproportionately for liberals for the same reason other liberal voting blocks do - self interest. For some liberal voters the self interest is the continuation of government programs and giveaways. For some it is the promise of diminished immigration laws and amnesty. For some it is the perception that liberals will provide them with more grant money. For some it is the perception that they will get ‘free’ medical care.

And, for too many, it is the belief that the liberals will promote the demographic they belong to and punish those in the demographics that liberals don't like (e.g. ‘the rich’, ‘privileged white men’, ‘those religious nuts’, ‘those greedy doctors’, and ‘those disgusting air-headed women who don't work, dote on their families, and go to PTA meetings etc.’).

Some women vote for liberals for somewhat less passionate ‘practical’ self interests, such as the belief that liberals will favor women in the work place, and essentially keep in place policy advantages that specifically help women. I believe, however, that a lot of women who vote for liberals do so because of more passionate self interest issues that often have to do with resentment. These are the women who at some level resent what they perceive as the ‘male establishment’, or any ‘establishment’ that ‘wants to put them in a box’.

They resent what they perceive as sexist traditional religion, and often either embrace secularism, or a ‘progressive’ religious movement. They resent, and for some actually hate, the concept of ‘traditional values’, because for them this concept smacks of ‘Father Knows Best’.

For these women, voting liberal is an act of defiance, and many are too entrenched in their resentment of what they think conservatives represent to be swayed by alternative arguments. In the words of Tom Petty, they are ‘Rebels without a clue’.

These women fervently dislike Palin because of what they think she stands for. Palin is the cute cheerleader and tomboy combination that didn't fight against the ‘man's world’, but instead embraced it and has become successful in it. She's everything they resent. On a much more mundane level, in my opinion many women have a problem with successful women that their husbands might like. It was OK for women to fawn about Bill Clinton, with their husbands in tow, and for a supposedly educated ‘liberal’ woman to ask ‘boxers or briefs?’, but if a political candidate that men think is beautiful comes on the scene turnabout is not considered fair play.

My long diatribe for the morning..
