Obama: Deportation numbers are a "little deceptive"

President Obama on Wednesday urged frustrated Americans to stop blaming him for the standstill on federal immigration reform and to direct their displeasure instead at Republicans in Congress. "The notion that I can somehow just change the laws unilaterally is just not true," Obama told moderators Wednesday during a Hispanic online roundtable-- "Open for Questions"-- hosted by Yahoo!, MSN Latino, AOL Latino and HuffPost LatinoVoices. "The fact of the matter is there are laws on the books I have to enforce. And there is a great disservice done to the cause of getting the Dream Act passed and comprehensive immigration reform passed by perpetuating the notion that somehow by myself I can just go and do these things," Obama said, referring to proposed legislation to provide a path to citizenship for some children of illegal immigrants. The president praised past Republican presidents George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan, whom Obama said understood the importance of comprehensive immigration reform. "Right now, you do not have that kind of leadership coming from the Republican party," Obama claimed. Immigration reform is one of the many issues the president will be forced to address as he courts Hispanic voters during his 2012 re-election campaign. The president finds himself in a middle ground, both advocating a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants and acting as the enforcer of current immigration laws. Obama was asked to address an increase in deportations that has occurred during his tenure. He said the numbers are "a little deceptive." Apprehensions at the border are counted as deportations in the reported statistics, Obama said, so the uptick in deportations is caused by "more effective" border control, not by deportations of otherwise law-abiding illegal immigrants. "

This is utter BS. Reform? More like reform and ignore, reform and ignore. Drunk illegals have to run Americans over in order to get deported and even then, nobody actually enforces the deportation order. As for ‘latino groups’ again; BS. MEXICANS.

I'd suggest Mr. Obama shut up, stop complaining and start marching.

Out the door, preferably.

“The fact of the matter is there are laws on the books I have to enforce”

Really? I thought you were evading all those laws with which you don't agree by using your Executive Orders. All Obama Executive Orders must be rescinded as soon as he is gone.

We need to use the anti-racketeering RICO laws to prosecute the big institutional offenders like restaurant chains and
hotel chains. These laws have penalties that can include seizure of assets, like personal property. These laws have
been routinely used against drug syndicates.

If some CEO’s think they might lose the lake house, they will get rid of jose in a hurry.

Profiting from the use of illegal alien labor is, IMHO, a type of organized crime.

We need to get a champion of this in Congress like Ted Poe or Michael McCaul.

I wonder when he learned this.

He apparently did not know it a month ago when he directed gun dealers in border states to begin reporting all multiple long gun sales to the BATFE (in violation of federal fireamrs laws and the 14th Amendment).

It is too late to save this nation. We will elect another RINO in 2012 and will continue down the path to One World Government and it amazes me that we have so much buy-in on that heading even on this site, with support for RINOs Romney and Perry and Gingrich.

The illegals are far too ingrained into our government and citizenship (via fraud perpetrated by government officials). We are only biding our time, because people are too short-sighted to see that unless we REVERSE direction we will still get there...to the One World Government. Anyone, who is over 30 years old and has the slightest real attention span, knows the GOPs top contenders are the One World Government politicians. Far too many public-schooled Republicans in the U.S...that's certainly true.

I thought just last week he made some comment about having to take action since congress was unable to do so, regarding no child left behind.
And he directed non-enforcement of immigration issues, and lets not talk about gun-runner, or Defense of Marriage Act, or his uncle, or...

The chief reason I did not seek out certain law enforcement fields was the notion that selective enforcement of laws with which I agreed was not a real option.

The executive does not serve as a check on the legislative branch by non-enforcement, but by veto. (IMHO - there are legitimate times he can serve as one on the court that way... but some might find this to be incongruous).

Uh, excuse me but didn't the RATS take over Congress on Jan 2. 2007 (when Bush - the pro-open border GOP President - was still in office), and the boy king took over on Jan 20, 2009????
Hasn't his RAT party had FOUR years to pass COMPREHENSIVE AMNESTY for all those UNDOCUMENTED DEMONRATS?

Amen to that.

Besides being involved in the treasonist acts of some in the DOJ and BATF. Frankly he can JSTFU as far as I’m concerned. It looks like it’s going to be the Voters that have the Cajones to kick his Ass out of the WH.

Here in NJ there is no decline in the number of illegal aliens; the basic premise (that deportations had increased) was a hoax to convince working whites that they should vote for Obama (again).

All a lie because the cruel truth on the deportations number (roughly 300,000-400,000 per year and cited by Nappy Napolitano) is that just about all these "deportations" are Mexicans arrested at the border and sent back to Mexico. Jose from Honduras who is arrested for selling crack in Jersey City? Even after time in prison will he be deported when we have scum like Obama as president? Very dubious because this involves putting him on an airplane which presents logistical problems such as do you put an armed guard on the flight? Do you send him back on a Con Air kind of flight where he is shackled?

The logistics are simply an excuse for the inaction of the government (after the initial lie is exposed); they want them here as cheap labor and consumers. While they fill Wal-Marts, they are also here to buy homes and autos that are beyond the reach of tax-saddled (or unemployed) Americans.
