Here’s something to ponder as we decide whether to hijack this thread: Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.

I anticipate much handwringing from the libertarians and liberals...

The silence from the left is deafening. They don't want to criticize 0 bummer, but killing a US citizen without him having his day in court... Hmmmmmmm.

Friend of mine sent me this:

A friend of mine just started his own business in Afghanistan. He's making land mines that look like prayer mats. It's doing well; he says prophets are going through the roof.

I still object to using the term “home-grown terrorist”. We don’t produce these people as though a natural by-product of our society, they have voluntarily transcended boundaries which help to define what it means to be a home-grown American hero or just an average US citizen. They are Jihadi-grown. They’re al Qaeda-grown. They’re not (US) home grown.

Bears repeating!!!!

Thanks for that...we have enough home-grown trouble already without the media making it look-sound as though it’s all the same brand of trouble.

United States Assassinates Anwar the Anchor Baby
Bloggers and Personal ^ | 30 Sep 11 | Xzins

The most important thing to know about the “death by drone” of Anwar al-Awlaki is that this is really about citizenship and anchor babies. Anwar, America’s enemy, is a US citizen by virtue of his Yemeni dad pursuing higher education in the US at the time of Anwar’s birth. Anwar was born in New Mexico in April of 1971. That made him a US citizen.

It doesn’t matter that he returned to Yemen and that his parents had no intention of ever becoming US citizens while they lived here. What matters is the address of the hospital in which little Anwar screamed his first breath of defiance.

The truly bizarre is yet to follow. We also trained him. He returned to the US for both undergrad and graduate degrees: civil engineering and education, respectively. Later pursuit of a PhD in human resource development at George Washington University fell short.

This “U.S. Citizen” then set about trying to destroy his so-called “home of birth.”

What’s more, Awlaki’s kids and wife are forever tied to the US. His five children, at least some of whom had to have been born in the US before he departed in 2002, finally arrived in Yemen in 2004 with their parents. Those born in the US while he attended school are doubly US citizens since their dad was a citizen.

As one recent discussion put it: “Each of these babies becomes an anchor who retards deportation of unlawfully present parents—and who eventually will be an anchor for entire families and villages as chain migration leads to the immigration of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.” Bloomberg BusinessWeek

The death of Anwar al-Awlaki is not at all about getting “America’s enemy.” It really is a discussion about “anchor baby citizenship.”

Anchor babies with bombs.

Meanwhile “The Obama administration says attempts to change the U.S. constitutional amendment that grants automatic citizenship to people born in the United States are “just wrong.” http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/dcnow/2010/08/obama-administration-slams-attacks-on-birthright-citizenship.html

No one wants to “change the 14th Amendment, Mr President. They simply want folks to acknowledge that anti-American terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki’s parents weren’t “subjects” of the United States. They were Yemenis. Little Anwar wasn’t a subject of the US either.

On the contrary, he was a hater and an enemy.

Can anyone imagine the howls that would be coming from the left if Bush were ordering these drone strikes. The silence of the “progressives” is absolutely stunning. Where is the outrage from the likes of Maddow, Schulz, and O’Donnell. Where are the calls for a public trial of our “assassin president?” The hypocrisy on the left defies belief.

You missed a key component to this story. He wasn't just pursuing a degree here. He also became a muslim cleric, preached in several mosques, and became a famous cleric before returning to Yemen. He was not radicalized in Yemen. He was radicalized right here in Virginia.

So is this the first high profile muslim-American martyr? There may be very distinct reasons the administration needs to demonstrate why this guy is not an anchor baby. And those reasons are for reasons of Homeland Security. Cospiracy case: Did 0bama do this for the polls? Or did he do it to instigate attacks in America for killing and American Muslim Cleric? It is a good a valid discussion to determine if all these immigrants are coming here on visa's but not pursuing citizenship...then are their children born here really citizens?
