We “Do Not Consider Perry a Factor… We Know Who it is Who Will be Our Nominee”
Race 4 2012 ^ | October 4, 2011 | Matt Coulter

Posted on 10/05/2011 1:03:21 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Those words were spoken today by Georgette Mosbacher, RNC Finance Co-Chair and huge GOP fundraiser, after Chris Christie’s announcement. The “we” is all the big bundlers, fundraisers, and money folks who have been sitting on the sidelines waiting for the field to be set — and that quote represents the coalescing around Mitt Romney that is expected to happen rather quickly now. Mosbacher went on to say:

“I think tomorrow, we’ll be contacting one another and probably put something together with Romney… And I would say that the race is now Romney and Obama. Quite frankly, the enthusiasm wasn’t there at the outset. He’s less conservative than a lot of us would like. However, our first and foremost goal is to defeat Obama. And we do believe Romney, in terms of independents, will be a strong candidate. We will coalesce behind him now… the time has come to get behind him… Tomorrow I’ll be on the phone all day. Quite frankly, it’ll be easier, because now we know who it is who will be our nominee. So we will pull our Rolodexes out and get to work.”

Fellow bundler and sideline-sitter John Catsimatidis added, “I’m going to go with Mitt Romney. I don’t think Perry has it in him to do it. He’s a lot better than Sarah Palin, but not a lot lot better.”

Ouch.

In related news, Romney also scored another major fundraiser from the Draft Christie movement: Ken Langone. Langone is the founder of Home Depot and is described as a “titan” in the political money scene. He backed Rudy Giuliani in 2008, helping Giuliani out raise the other candidates. There is evidence that a great deal of the money that had sat on the sidelines so far in this race will now fall into Romney’s coffers.

Rick Perry, for his part, got the endorsement of another Draft Christie member: Gary Kirke, a west Iowa investor and casino owner who had also been sitting on the sidelines until this afternoon.

May be it may take another four years of the Anointed One to bring people to their senses.

Probably not going to be anything left after another four years.

Close observers could have forecasted (and did forecast) a Romney v. Palin battle three years ago. That’s why Romney’s paid hacks didn’t even wait until McCain lost in ‘08 to go after Palin.

Excellent point. Thanks for the reminder.

Yes—or you can wait another 10 days for her to be in the race.

But you’re right, if she doesn’t run we need to pick whichever other candidate we want to back in a race that Mitt will very likely win.

9YearLurker: “The GOP RINO Establishment are deeper in this race, trying to throw in diversionary candidates against the force of Palin, than most people realize.”

The fact that the GOP RINOs DESPISE Governor Palin is one of the strongest facts in her favor.

I’m glad there’s one point I’m in complete agreement with nearly everybody here.

No Mitt!

Romney flooded Iowa with glossy brochures and robocalls in 2008, but self-destructed when Jan Mickelson needled him on his faith.

Romney went hysterical on-air--yet Mickelson was merely acting in character as the smartest guy in the room.

Sarah presented as a phenom when introduced on the scene--and took the failing McCain effort back from a touchback--but couldn't score.

Now the bloom is off springtime for boy-king and he's vulnerable.

The America which rolled back the congress in 2010 won't go for the glazed donut in 2012.

The process will produce the best contender.

I promoted Goldwater in 1964 but the Left painted him as menacing a little girl plucking petals.

Sarah's weathered all the unfairness experienced by Rick Perry and Herman Cain and the Left has failed to take her out.

She campaigned for Rick Perry and will appear at Liberty with Herman Cain--so I don't see any need to detract--

--but with Romney, there's a danger.

The devil has power to assume a pleasing shape--

--and this devil only pretends to the principles of conservatism.

It's the classic social-fiscal-defense triangle, and he's wobbly enough for Barbara Bush.

What's a little more difficult to explain is Ann Coulter--I have four of her books, but on Mitt, there's no rational explanation.

Obama has fooled most for four years--but not us.

We saw the crypto-marxist, closet-islamist threat, the hatred of the constitution and the unborn.

In this exorcism the faith ought to be pure enough to survive the putrid flames impending.

It's an existential threat.

I reject a ‘Romney win’ based on the fact that there are way more of us than GOP elitists. We have 1 year to back the most conservative candidate in the race...whoever that may ultimately be.

IMO, people predicting a MR win are thinking with their MSM-generated fear, not their common and critical sense.

Oh, not to worry.

History repeats itself.

And Mr. Romney, just like his dad before him, is about to be denied the GOP Presidential Nomination by a SOLID GRASSROOTS CONSERVATIVE who is going to sick the rank and file of the party and the base right upon his lib/moderate butt.

They tried to freak us out in 1964 and 1980 with these psy-war mind games and big talk and defeatist chatter about no conservative being able to take the prize, but as far as I am concerned about these GOP country club cocktail circuit gated community "elite" party know it all types, well, they can just go jump in the lake as far as me and millions of other Primary 2012 voters are concerned.

......We have 1 year to back the most conservative candidate in the race...whoever that may ultimately be......

And what?

That would mean a 3rd Party run.

That would mean Obama 2012 -2016.

Who do YOU work for?

“Yeah, they sure will, though he`s a bit of a harder target than Perry.”

Not by much. The media threw him one dirtball race question, and he jumped and ran with it. Then the next day lied by denying he ever said Perry was “insensetive”, claiming he only said the word was. But in fact he cleary said it about Perry. That, plus his unwillingness to say he would support Perry as nominee, while having no hesitaion about Romney, has damaged him.

For Romney, a course set long ago

Got THAT right.

I pray she gets in - and that WE The PEOPLE will finally step to the front and elect a PEOPLEs candidate.

This is our one great shot at breaking the elitest establishment...and crony capitalism...thereby turning this ship around.

You can think that I’m working from some sort of weak-minded, lily-livered fear if you’d like.

But you don’t beat a well-funded, Establishment-backed, next-in-line RINO candidate with nobody—in a quality of candidate sense. Even in a cycle like this one. Just doesn’t happen.

Also, I question how much more conservative than Romney Perry actually is. It’s Romney’s brain-driven technocratic tendencies versus Perry’s ‘compassionate conservatism’.

I built this for you. And some day you’ll realise that it represents a whole lot more than people’s inventions.

It represents my life’s work. This is the key to the future. I’m limited by the technology of my time, but one day you’ll figure this out. And when you do, you will change the world. What is, and always will be, my greatest creation... is *you*.
