Sarah Palin Will Not Run For President in 2012 (Letter from Sarah)

October 5, 2011 6:20 PM EDT

Sarah Palin confirmed in a letter to supporters she will not run for President in 2012, saying at this time she can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other Conservatives to office.

Below is a copy of Palin's letter:

October 5, 2011 Wasilla, Alaska After much prayer and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking the 2012 GOP nomination for President of the United States. As always, my family comes first and obviously Todd and I put great consideration into family life before making this decision. When we serve, we devote ourselves to God, family and country. My decision maintains this order.

My decision is based upon a review of what common sense Conservatives and Independents have accomplished, especially over the last year. I believe that at this time I can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other true public servants to office – from the nation’s governors to Congressional seats and the Presidency. We need to continue to actively and aggressively help those who will stop the “fundamental transformation” of our nation and instead seek the restoration of our greatness, our goodness and our constitutional republic based on the rule of law.

From the bottom of my heart I thank those who have supported me and defended my record throughout the years, and encouraged me to run for President. Know that by working together we can bring this country back – and as I’ve always said, one doesn’t need a title to help do it.

I will continue driving the discussion for freedom and free markets, including in the race for President where our candidates must embrace immediate action toward energy independence through domestic resource developments of conventional energy sources, along with renewables. We must reduce tax burdens and onerous regulations that kill American industry, and our candidates must always push to minimize government to strengthen the economy and allow the private sector to create jobs.

Those will be our priorities so Americans can be confident that a smaller, smarter government that is truly of the people, by the people, and for the people can better serve this most exceptional nation.

In the coming weeks I will help coordinate strategies to assist in replacing the President, re-taking the Senate, and maintaining the House.

Thank you again for all your support. Let’s unite to restore this country!

God bless America.

– Sarah Palin

What do you expect a young person to do if they have lived in this country since at least the age of 15 and now they have or are about to graduate high school and turn 18?

Do you really expect them to go back to where their parents came from?

Would you?

What is your solution that YOU could implement that the fed would allow you to do AND would meet EVERYONE’s approval?

Are you proposing deporting all illegals? If so, how?

Uttering cliches is easy. What do YOU have to offer that is so much better than what any of the state legislatures have done and is better than any of the candidates have done?

Dignified, thoughtful, and wisely worded letter. And it proves that she’s actually sane and rational, unlike some of her supporters.

As someome who always liked Palin but have also always had problems with her ability to be president [and more problems with some of her rabid fans], I have to say I think she is doing the right thing. She is a genuine conservative, and when conservatives go to DC they get drawn into the culture and want to be popular. While I have no real reason to believe she would fall victim to that, she is such a divisive figure to some because she is SUCH a conservative.

Well, we need real, hardcore conservatives to shape the Republican party. I often see people tossing around the term RINO, but how much of a slur is that when the Republicans behave as they do? Palin has shown she can inspire the base as no other living politician. I think she can continue what she has started and help bring the Republican party back from the country club and to the neighborhood. It is just where she can do the most good.

I hope her big fans don`t sulk and say `Sarah or nobody!` I suspect they won`t do that.Obama must go.

Perry...Perry...Perry...only one who has the needed skills to give America back to the people.

Do one of those skills include debating skills?

I know you are having fun...but come on behave a bit...this has crushed a whole lot of Sarah Palin supporters. When I was one of her supporters a couple months back, I realized she wasn’t running so I was crushed for days...so give them a break.

We should have a contest to see who can find the most positive statements from Freepers saying she was running!

My faves were the ones that declared it was a SLAM DUNK that she would announce on Constitution Day.

I guess my tagline is no longer apt. (: I’m truly disappointed but can understand why Sarah isn’t running. Perry and Romney cancel each other and Huntsman leaves me searching for a barf bag. So that leaves Cain, Santorum, Gingrich, Bachmann, and Paul.

Newt is smart and despite his baggage I’d vote for him...he’s also pro-life which is a major concern otherwise there’s Cain.

"Heartless". With that word, Rick Perry didn't just burn the bridge to conservatives, he rigged the pilings with C4 and blew up the dam upriver from the bridge.

He did for me anyway....
