Mexico’s problem is the result of strict gun control. People are not allowed to defend themselves. The result is that the crooks take over, and they just happen to be dealing drugs. Gun control is the real problem. The police are either corrupt or neutralized, so minutes don’t matter when you are in trouble.

CNN did this article and more on the sidebar.
None of these articles mention why all these "narcos" show up in a sleepy little farm town.
Tornillo-Guadalupe Land Port of Entry, Tornillo, TX six lanes that tie straight into I-10. The bridge hasn't been started yet but Kay Bailey already has a $93 million earmark for it.

That is quite a report. The FedGov has failed so spectacularly in its duty Texas ought to declare a moratorium on its citizens paying federal taxes, instead paying them into the state, and use that to fund their border security operations.

“Plus the war on drugs in full effect..”

No, it is not or we would have stopped idiots from cooking/using them instead of stopping law abbiding citizens from buying ALLERGY pills!

As far as I’m concerned we should build BIGGER prisons just for DRUGGIES! They are more harmful than petty thieves! They steal, they lie, they harm innocent people and ruin families. They think of no one but themselves and where and how they get their next “fix”, nothing else matters. If some drug cartel slits a family members throat, they don’t care as long as they can get high!

Druggies should rot in jail, IMO, since they cost billions of taxpayers dollars and many, many lives. They ruin not only communities but entire towns/cities and anything they touch.

They are the most selfish people to ever walk the face of the earth, everyone else be damned. Lock up druggies and you solve a lot of problems!

And how exactly would you stop it?

Drugs are easily available in prison and North Korea, how do you expect to be able to stop it?

Note that most of the issues you’re talking about are all consequences of the war on drugs, and not the drugs themselves. Cartels only exist because of the illegality of some drugs. If they were legal, druggies wouldn’t have to steal.

>>The media loves to find sympathetic characters and then argue that 30 million illegal immigrants needs to be given amnesty ASAP.<<

I would suggest that in this case “political asylum” applies. She was after all being specifically targeted. I would think that we need to be careful about “lumping all together” as we accuse them of using this case as a “sympathetic character” example.

While Ricardo Perry chides us for being heartless, his bailiwick, Austin, the state Capitol, is run amok with illegals operating a massive drug cartel within view of his Governor’s mansion. The Mexican drug cartel La Familia operates in plain sight.........using Austin as a drug distribution hub into the deep south and mid-west.

Let's see----you got La Familia in Austin and the Zetas in Dallas (that we know of).

Now we know that Perry is stupid AND avaricious.......so that means the governor's not looking the other way, for free.

Looks like Senor Perry's made some solid deals to protect Mexican drug operations, giving them free and easy access to Texas.

One question---how much Texas tax dollars are being used to facilitate all of this?

” Perry is stupid AND avaricious”

I don’t think I’d go that far. He’s a thoroughly mediocre Governor, a very go-with-the-flow weathervane. He’s not my first choice at all, but still a vast improvement over the President we have now.

Drugs make things so much worse. I don’t know why people don’t think about that before they start using.

With the rise of quasi-legal medical marijuana production in some states, I don't know anyone who buys or smokes Mexican weed.

They are likely selling it in ghettos and to Mexicans already here.

THAT is why the feds intend to go after American grown. It is of much higher quality and far cheaper. The states that are now permitting “medical marijuana” are making money and the cartels are losing it. ALL the states that permit med mar are now on fed notice. They must police the dispensaries to LOWER the quality of the reefer by at least half or be closed down, a COMMAND which in order to comply with, will completely shut down American grown supply...thereby returning the demand AND the profit TO the cartels in mexico.

The only thing that is REALLY going to “close down” the drug cartels, and put them permanently out of business, is a “Chinese solution”.

The Chinese Solution, killing anyone suspected of drug involvement, is incompatible with the Constitution.

The Prohibition Solution, legalizing, regulating, and taxing, is compatible with the Constitution.

It is the drive of the Progressives to control every ones life that is destroying this country. Prohibition was a "Progressive" experiment. It failed. Drug Prohibition is another Progressive experiment. It has failed as well.

Of course and I'm not surprised....it's open borders so they see no threat...and you can bet they're in ALL the major cities in our country no thanks to Perry's Border polices.....he'll let this country get raked and never bat an eye....obviously when it's happening on his front door step.

Uh???? Druggies generally aren't working so no paycheck... they surely will continue to steal to supply their habit...legal or not.

Mesta...Just read one of your links where the Mjor Speaks to Greta about the Cartels operating freely IN Texas...and hpw they are ferrying individuals from Ethopia, Sudan and other middle eastern countries, thru and INTO Texas dropoff points.

I cannot believe Perry supporters do not get that the border HAS to be “CLOSED”...not fixed...not cow-towed to Perry’s corperate entities, both foreign and domestic,....and surely not the Perry way of handling the border by dragging this issue out politically.

I’m so dang furious with Perry for this mess...he’s certainly had more time...(years and years)... than any other Governor to get a handle on this.. and instead has enabled and assisted this to grow until it’s completely out of control...and still he wants to dance around the issue we need the border simply secured rather than frigg’in closed!

Thanks for the link of the Majors assessment Mesta....chilling to be all get out!

Liz...been reading more and more about the cartels and the change from mafia-business leadership to outright dangerous killers who think nothing at taking life. It's chilling! what they are doing not only ON the border but IN Texas right under Perry's nose!

Furthermore the vast numbers of foreigners they are bringing INTO Texas..from Sudan,Ethiopia,Yemen and various other ME countries.....To say Texas is a “gateway” state for human trafficking is a complete understatement....

I'm fast approaching saying Texas is an accessory to these crimes and murders.....BECAUSE...they just don't want to stop the revenues they're getting over and above our national security....which is at huge risk by Perry's policies....and their unwillingness to "CLOSE" the friggin border!

Drugs don't have any inherent property that leaves users unable to keep a job. Its the high prices and questionable quality which do the most damage.

For instance, plenty of (say)heroin users have become productive members of society in the Netherlands, where heroin is supplied free of cost to addicts.
