The obvious answer is this news conference is an attempt to deflect the impact of the F&F subpoenas being issued later this afternoon.

However, explain why Holder is making this announcement.
Why isn't someone from the Department of Homeland Security up there? Or CIA?

That was exactly my first thought. Now Holder and Zero will be to busy trying to avoid a war to go testify to Issa and his committee. It is an invented crisis.

I am with you on that now. But at first, I thought 'OK, good, our guys are doing their job' but I kept waiting for description of the "BIG IMMINENT" attack, and I never heard it.
Stopping an attack on a foreign ambassador is something we should do, but so far it just seems they have caught a loose talking agent. The other warrant is for a guy in Iran. We will never get him.
