Why won't Cain attack Romney? (vanity)

Posted on 10/11/2011 10:49:05 AM PDT by teg_76

After Palin, I've been leaning towards Cain. My only problem with him is that he's much more comfortable attacking Perry than Romney.

I'm no fan of the bumbling debator from Texas who says his base has no heart, but this cozying up to Romney by Cain is concerning.

Herman Cain remains my favorite, but he needs to show he's not running for VP. He needs to go after Romney on Romneycare tonight. If he doesn't, it may be time to look elsewhere.

The one thing Rick Perry has going for him is that he's shown he's not afraid to take it to Romney, something all of the other candidates have been hesitant to do.

I think Perry’s become the enemy to a lot of people around here. Can’t figure out why.

Couldn't be his executive order mandating people's young daughters getting the HPV vaccine - amazingly produced by a huge contributor to his political aspirations?

Or maybe his light on illegal immigration actions?

I'm sure others can add to the list - the point is, he blew his political capital when he announced he was running, and has kicked himself in the jewels both with his bumbling debate style (and folks called GW an idiot...), to his own record and statements.

He does not have to.

Perry will keep beating him up via surrogates about being a member of “a cult”. And Obama will continue to leak documents showing that Obamacare was initially Romney’s idea.

Cain is smart enough to know he will have to re-unite the Party against Obama once all the dust settles. So don’t spend your energy or capital on pointless attacks.

Cain is supporting a socialist and tag teaming with him against the only threat to Romney—Rick Perry. You are utilitarian and seem to enjoy the fact that Cain has palled up with a socialist. That would not be okay on FR if I did for Romney what Cain is doing for and with Romney. Love your zebra print sleep shades though. God spare us from the dupes and tools.

“Because Cain and Perry are vying for the same vote - the anti-Romney vote.
Once Cain solidifies that position, he will go after Romney.”

The idea is to promote yourself and your own qualifications for office in getting the job done the way the voting public wants, not tearing down your competition. Cain is right in spending the bulk of his time discussing his vision for America. By doing so he’s giving voters a reason to vote for someone....not against someone. This is the kind of positive message that wins voter support, especially in the primaries. JMHO

>>>>>Jobs and Texas economy should be what moves you to Perry.

EXACTLY! Truth is, aside from attacking Romney, I haven't seen Perry really go after the others. But they have sure gone after him. LOL

Bottom line. Conservatives should look at the candidates full political record in governing or in legislative votes. Conservatives should not be calling on the cult of personality to promote a political neophyte like Cain over a substantive and successful record of the Texas Governor..

“Cain’s better off sticking to his simple and positive message - let the other guys slug it out in the mud.”

You are so right.....good advice for all!

“Who had the RACIST graffiti on their property...for years and needed to be called out on it?”

I’m not even a Perry fan and I can tell you that is a cheap shot and a lie worthy of only a post on the DU. One it was not their property, they would lease it, just like others would do throughout the year. Two, there is no evidence that they tolerated the sign. If you have proof that they never painted over the sign or flip it over, then show that proof.

If you are not going to support Perry, then do so for reasons other than believing Left Wing media smears.

Don't cling to your Perry worship and think.

I, for one, am continuing to cling to my guns and Bible.

“So you watched the Larry King interview with the party bosses too?”

Actually, no. I’ve heard it fairly often from friends who follow politics. They’ve been saying that since McCain got the nod back in ‘08.

I don’t watch Larry King or those like him.

Dumbo perry ganged up on himself, when he told the voters what he thought of them. Now not ready for prime time, perry, is a single digit man headed down the poop chute.

If you were going to put your name in to be President, and you didn’t have any money from day one, would you wait until you surged in the polls to make plans for getting money?

I sure wouldn’t, I’d make plans before I surged in the polls to try to get enough money to carry me until people started donating to my campaign. IMHO

Put your emotions on hold and finally think this through.

Who got in the race last?

Perry is only in this to split the social conservatives away from the Tea Party and hand the nomination to Romney.

Both Romney and Perry are the same old GOP politics as usual Establishment politicians. All this suppose verbal combat at the debates between them is just Kabuki theater for the masses.

What does Romney need? Someone to build a bridge to the social conservatives in GOP Establishment like Palin did for McCain in 2008. Who is the darling cult of personality Bush jr idol of the social conservatives?

Rick Perry.

What does Perry need but a chance to perform on the National stage and be “President in waiting” so he can be President in fact 8 years from now.

It is a political Establishment marriage of the GOPbots dreams. It the equivalent of putting Bush and McCain on the same ticket. Mass campaign money plus candidates who are on the “correct” side of every one of the crony capitalist party Establishment positions.

Cain has nothing to offer any of the Establishment Candidates. He build no bridges, brings no money and totally over shadows any of them on the intellectual field.

Cain would not be anyone choice for VP. Perry will be.

Romney is DOA. Cain knows this.

No sense pissing off the supporters of someone who won't be a factor in four 4-6 months.

Are you serious? You really think that Cain hasn't been trying to get donations until now?

Or are you saying that he shouldn't have run for president until he had the money?

People wouldn't give him money until they thought the had a chance. That's why the donations are coming in now - after the poll surge.

It’s all fine and noble to say that who they should all be battling is Obama not each other, BUT this is the Primary, this is when we have to see the differences between the people running on our side. Because of that I have no problem with them attacking each other on the issues.

In the next round is when the focus will be on attacking Obama.

I like Cain, but I am anxious to see how he handles tonight and how he handles Romney in the next few days. In the “pecking order” Romney is now the one he should be going after. If he continues to hit at Perry while not stepping up his attacks on Romney, I will be concerned.

I’m giving him a pass for endorsing Romney last time around just because the options stank but we’ll see over the course of the next few days.

ROmney is not the enemy.

Romney is an enemy to our Republic -- he despises Conservatives and probably relishes "sticking it to us."

Mitt is a pure-blood Statist at heart.

Mitt will do NOTHING to turn our Republic back towards Liberty.

Mitt will just be a placeholder until the next Marxist takes power.

With a clear conscious, I will NEVER cast a vote for Mitt.

Herman Cain is not supporting romney. How in the world did this false rummer get started here?

Was is because that reporter asked Mr. Cain if he would consider being VP for romney? And Mr. Cain said something like, he might consider thinking about it, but only if romney had changed his views from what they used to be but that he wasn’t looking to be anybody’s VP because he’s planning to be President? Is that where the mix up came from?

(spoken with Darth Vader voice)

I find your lack of support for a true conservative disturbing....

Seriously though, if you want to ensure RINOs win, just keep withholding your support for true conservatives. And remember Reagan would not criticize other republicans when he ran, either.

I guess you would not have voted for him either.

Can we trade you to the democratic party, for another voter to be named later? We need guys who think, rather than get their feelings hurt and lash out because they backed the wrong dog early in the fight.
