Rush: Perry the only conservative threat to Romney
The Examiner ^ | October.11,2011 | Charlie Spiering

Posted on 10/11/2011 10:04:19 PM PDT by Reagan Man

On his radio program this afternoon, Rush Limbaugh said that Christie's endorsment of Romney is proof that the GOP establishment is "desperate" for Romney to be the Republican nominee.

"They're doing everything they can to make sure -- you know, Bachmann, Santorum, they're not in the top tier now, but they want to make sure they stay there." Limbaugh said, "Perry is the only genuine conservative threat to Romney, and this is an effort to take him out."

Limbaugh added that "the thinking" on Herman Cain is that he does not have enough organization or money to compete with Romney.

"They don't even want to go through the primary process. They want to force people out." Limbaugh concluded, "They want Bachmann to quit. They want Santorum to quit. They want Cain to get outta here. Well, he's not going to for a while. They want Perry to finally throw in the towel. They want everybody to realize they don't have a prayer. It's Romney."

Yes, he’s lost his edge. He won’t get it back until his current marriage ends.

Yeah, she also called McCain, Whittman and Fiorina conservatives too.

I’ve made my own observations of Rick Perry and have come to my own conclusions about the man.

As you should. Now how about letting others do the same.

If I recall Rush urged Perry to get into the race. I don’t believe Rush has ever mentioned Perry’s stance on illegal amnesty via the Texas educational system that Perry created and called conservatives heartless.

Rush to some degree owns Perry. Rush needs to admit he was wrong on Perry.

What happens if Palin endorses Perry?

Because you’ve come to the opinion Perry isn’t conservative enough for ‘you’ means no one else can come to a different conclusion?

Think highly of yourself, do ya?

Jeez Allegra, sometimes people ping interested friends to their posts. No one is “ganging up” on you. Unbelievable.

Anyhow, IMO the gulf between Ricky and Myth is somewhere between your “miles” and Billyboy’s “inches”, let’s say a few yards ;p. I think Perry is closer to Romney than he is to a Tea Party conservative but Romney is low enough scum that I can say I’d prefer Perry by an appreciable margin.

Rush’s opinion btw=FAIL.

I listened to this episode of Rush and he said something very, very interesting that most people probably missed. It was right after a female caller asked him to pick a candidate and endorse that candidate. I think his answer was very, very significant.

He said that a year before the last elections, McCain was considered as finished and no hopes of winning the primaries. Back then McCain was broke. He was in third place. Then out of no where he rose to win the nomination.

Forward to today. We are a year away from the next election. Who is in third place?

I think that Rush was answering the woman caller’s question indirectly as to whom he is endorsing.

My biggest concern about Cain is where he will get all the money he needs to run and how he will get an organization established quickly enough to compete against Obama. MCCain was severely outspent by Obama and I would expect that Cain would have the same problem if he does not raise the money.

I do think that if the Tea Party gets in back of Cain it can raise $2-3 billion for Cain in a very short time.

Dont bother with the Palinistas ... Perry, a real conservative, had the guts to enter the fray, and their candidate didn’t have the stones.

Bitter is the new black for the followers of the Queen.

If Rush said this he’s an idiot. He’s rarely wrong but in this case he’s totally jumped the shark. Perry doesn’t have a chance in hell.

The things that Perry has flipped on are Trans Texas Corridor and an Executive Order on Gardasil.

And I don't think he's backed down on those being good ideas. He certainly hasn't on Gardasil. I'm not sure about the corridor.

Not saying they are good ideas, just saying that saying "I lost" or "I made a mistake" is not the same as a flip flop.

So, does Perry OPPOSE abortion, like Reagan?

Being as how the Gipper made it legal in California, it seems Perry opposes it more.

RE :"Jeez Allegra, sometimes people ping interested friends to their posts. No one is “ganging up” on you. Unbelievable."

Yes, we not Palinistas LOL, a number of them were for burning heretics to their beliefs.

Perry I might be able to vote for next November, but not Romney, especially if I think he has a good chance of winning. I would want no association with him as POTUS.

I would feel much more comfortable with Perry if he came out with a 'read my lips' public statement promising no 'path to legalization' to anyone illegally in this country. That would fix some problems he created for himself.

-"How he could call Perry a “conservative”, is beyond me. In my opinion, that’s a clear indication that he doesn’t delve any deeper into the candidates than the MSM issued bullet points."

Rush should have come out more forcefully for Palin (not endorse her, but actually gone out of his way to state her positions), and possibly she might have had more incentive to get in. But, you're right. Rush seems to have tuned out on the actual history behind each of the candidates, has essentially formed his opinions on what the MSM has provided. Sad day for America when this is the best we can do in times such as these.

Remember the last establishment politician who did the “read my lips” pledge. If La Raza Rick tells me the sky is blue, I go outside to double-check.

Exactly what I’ve been saying. You folks continue destroying Perry and you’re stuck with Romney

So much for Cain blasting Romney... Pathetic

Cain didn’t have a chance to “slam” Romney... he was too busy stumbling through his own answers until he got to “9-9-9! 9-9-9!”
