Anita Perry, campaigning for husband Rick Perry in South Carolina, suggests he's been "brutalized" by the media and the GOP because of his faith. Perry is the most religiously expressive candidate in the Republican field. He hosted a seven-hour Christian prayer rally in August in advance of entering the presidential race. And at last week's Values Voters Summit, he was introduced by a Dallas Baptist pastor who said rival Mitt Romney is not a Christian and Mormonism is a cult.
Perry has suffered several extremely bad weeks, stumbling in the debates and losing the coveted endorsement of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who's backing Romney. Here, in emotional remarks at a South Carolina campaign stop, Anita Perry said:
"It's been a rough month. We have been brutalized and beaten up and chewed up in the press to where I need this today. We are being brutalized by our opponents, and our own party. So much of that is, I think, they look at him because of his faith. He is the only true conservative - well, there are some true conservatives. And they're there for good reasons. And they may feel like God called them too. But I truly feel like we are here for that purpose."
Here's the full 15-minute appearance -- a remarkable, emotional address threaded with religious references in which at one point (about 3 minutes in) she nearly breaks down, then (8 minutes in) makes the comments about the brutal campaign and later recalls someone who told Perry his political troubles were a divine test: "God is testing you because he wants you to know when you're in the White House, how you got there." It was a public show of emotion, not unlike Hillary Clinton breaking down in tears

Agree - it is odd...and maybe it wasn’t even coordinated. Perry’s campaign has definitely had its slip-ups, and maybe that’s what happened here - they let her be interviewed and she was hit by a question she didn’t expect.
And you sound like an arrogant bubblehead who would be on some sorry reality show.
“His answer to all questions is that we need energy independence (we do), but he’s become a one-trick pony”
Then he has something in common with the great statesman
Herman Cain. No matter what he is asked he rambles on about 9-9-9.
But everyone seems to think this lightweight is ready to be president over a man who has ran the nation’s second largest state for the past 10 years.
They shouldn’t be mentioned in the same sentence.
Well...Christian is as Christian does.
“Perry has never had a TOUGH election.
Sorry, Perry. Youre playing with the big boys, now.”
Wrong. Karl Rove and his band of roving RINOs went full steam ahead supporting fellow RINO pro-abortion
Kay Bailey Hutchinson over Perry. Millions of dollars were poured in her campaign to beat Perry. Well it backfired. Perry beat her like a drum in the election.

You’re right. There were some really mean ads. I forgot.
Lots of Texas hate on these threads lately. Obama fans or bitter Medina voters??
“By contrast, Herman Cain, a political ‘outsider’ has taken lots of verbal abuse from opponents and he gives it right back, with aplomb. Cain doesn’t whine or pout, he pushes ahead, like a leader”
Other than the last debate Herman Cain has been treated with kid clothes. And, the other night when he was asked a tough question by Ron Paul, you could see the veins in his neck almost pop. And he immediately commenced to telling a baldfaced lie to cover up getting caught. Cain has a hot temper. When Huntsman said 9 9 9 sounded like the price of a pizza that made Cain mad and it was evident from his response. In the coming debates his temper will really come out. He’s a novice to kind of stuff. He’s used to being the boss and not being told he’s wrong. Now that he’s the so-called leader, let’s see how he handles being put under the spotlight.
It was in the ‘’Houston Chronicle’’. It’s in the Conservapedia article on Rick Perry. He gave .5 percent on a salary of $150,000, not counting other earnings. I don’t know which church received the money. Isn’t Al Gore, Jr., also known for stinginess toward churches?
Why would KBH adopt two children late in life when she favors abortion? Seems like a disconnect
Do you think Perry will soon quit the race to avoid continual self-embarrassment?
“No, No, NO!”, the Lord replied. “I said President of MEXICO!”
Well you just showed the world you are a Rino voter and spew commie rat propaganda.
Has any other candidate done what you want from Perry?
Obama is responsible for illegals pouring into the US, it is a federal responsibility, not a state. States are left with the mess. If they try to pass strict laws like Arizona and Alabama, then they are sued. Arizona still can’t use much of their law, and Obama said they are going to sue Alabama. Find out the truth rather than simply trashing someone. But of course you really don’t want the truth do you?
Well well well, I see the smear merchant is here again.
You are love to insult and trash people don’t you? I forgot who you are supporting, but if I ever find out, then I will be glad to tell your candidate what a wonderful job you are doing on their behalf.
You know nothing about Perry and his belief in GOD. Don’t pretend you do.
Well, well, well, another smear merchant is back. I forgot the candidate you support, but when I find out, I will be glad to share your comments about Governor Perry with them.
