Two days before speaking at the monument's dedication, Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha made a surprise visit to the new memorial to the slain civil rights leader on the National Mall.

In my experience it is never a safe area of town where the “Martin Luther King” stuff is. I would never take my kids there.

The ugliest Memorial in Washington DC.

They should have shot the designer.

I know what you mean. Was in Oakland not long ago, with some people. Had a rented car. The Garmin thing in the rented car told us take Martin Luther King Blvd. It was clear that the neighborhood was changing rapidly the farther down King Blvd. you traveled.

I'd like to see Dr. King rise up and slap Obama upside the head. Shameful how his memory and legacy are exploited for personal gain.

This would be the white Chinese built monument that King’s family held up until they were paid $800,000 plus management fees.

Longtime plan? It was opened about two months ago, right?

King's "willingness to sacrifice himself for our country, to fight for a dream he believed in, like justice and equality, really gave a foundation for President Obama becoming the president," Jarrett said.

LOL... yes, because we all know BamBam would "sacrifice himself" for our country. (yes, I said OUR, not HIS).
