Protesters Debate What Demands, if Any, to Make (Laugh Alert)
NY Slimes ^ | 16 Oct 2011 | MEREDITH HOFFMAN

Posted on 10/17/2011 3:39:29 AM PDT by SkyPilot

In a quiet corner across the street from Zuccotti Park, a cluster of 25 solemn-faced protesters struggled one night to give Occupy Wall Street what critics have found to be most lacking.

“We absolutely need demands,” said Shawn Redden, 35, an earnest history teacher in the group. “Like Frederick Douglass said, ‘Power concedes nothing without a demand.’ ”

The influence and staying power of Occupy Wall Street are undeniable: similar movements have sprouted around the world, as the original group enters its fifth week in the financial district. Yet a frequent criticism of the protesters has been the absence of specific policy demands.

Mr. Redden and other demonstrators formed the Demands Working Group about a week and a half ago, hoping to identify specific actions they would formally ask local and federal governments to adopt. But the very nature of Occupy Wall Street has made that task difficult, in New York and elsewhere.

Although Occupy Seattle has a running tally of votes on its Web site — 395 votes to “nationalize the Federal Reserve,” 138 for “universal education” and 245 to “end corporate personhood,” for example — Mike Hines, a member of the group, said the list would soon be removed because the provisions had not been clearly explained and because some people were not capable of voting online.

“It feels like we’re all in a similar boat,” Mr. Hines said of other Occupy movements. “We all want to include as many voices as possible.”

If the protesters realized that the folks in the heartland consider this all to be a comedy of sorts....I don’t they’d even care. It’s more of a camping experience...lots of good weed....plenty of booze to sip at night....and some idiot media folks getting weird responses (of which most can’t be used at the nightly newscast anyway).

What is even comical about this....you have Matt Lauer of the Today Show...trying to act serious in telling the story each morning, to a bunch of soccer moms. You can tell that he’s having to push himself to be serious in front of the camera because none of the story makes any real sense.

Add onto the top of this...MSNBC trying to focus on this for four hours each night, and milking every single drop of absurd commentary from various communists and socialists. What few true Democrats watch the network....are reaching a point where they just can’t agree with the message and turn over to Animal Planet for entertainment.

I guess that last sign is simpler than “Honk if you have a mortgage, a credit card, a business loan, a student loan or financing on your car.”

1.) Free weed, man. Good shit, no twigs and stems.
2.) Free cable, including premium channels, MTV and MSNBC.
3.) Like a good job, you know, community organizing or teachin’ peace, not some f-ing corporate bs, where you like, you know, have to do boring shit.
4.) Open borders so we can get some folks in here to do the boring shit like laying floors, cutting grass, cleaning toilets, so like, us college graduates don’t have to do it. Cause, undocumented workers, they like to that shit.
5.) A living wage, so that we can buy iPods and iPads without doing boring corporate bs.

“Honk if you're in debt”

From the looks of the idiot, I will pass on seeking any financial advice from him.

Poor bastard probably got close to 100k college loan debt that is not dischargable by bankrupcy. I wonder if Big Education ever noticed that the biggest threat to its existence was when college loan debt became non-dischargable. When college loans were a way of pumping money from taxpayers to professors, the scam was kewl, now they have to depend on the dupes not catching on to the fact that when the party's over the hammer is going to fall hard and the hang over will last decades.

Who the hell is going to get a degree in bitter women's studies if all it leads to is a huge pile of debt and no prospect of employment, ever?

Best advice I ever got (and I took it to heart and still do) is “Avoid Debt”. A mortgage can make sense vs. renting (and it did for me), but not always. Save your nickels and buy a cheaper car. Go to a public college and pay your way via the GI bill, if possible.

Avoid debt.

Looks like the “protestor” in the first picture was busy “financing” on the cop car!

These vermin should not be underestimated. They have powerful interests behind them, including the current administration Community Organizers, billionaires with evil intent, Communist Party USA, union thugs, and the MSM.

All of these interests are looking for an excuse or justification to further erode the foundations of free enterprise and our system of government, IMO. Their current incompetent leadership will soon be replaced somehow.

“If we don’t make demands, the political parties will make them for us,” a longtime protester, Eric Lerner, 64, said...

A lontime protester... 64....

Just think about that. This idiot has spent most of his life protesting one thing or another.

“From the looks of the idiot, I will pass on seeking any financial advice from him.”

You’re ignoring what the media is feverishly trying to divert attention from: the protester’s shirt with the “Mexican crossing” sign (from southern California). These people know their government is screwing us by not enforcing immigration laws, and that illegals take American jobs. These protesters will probably be voting in similar fashion to a lot of TEA Party people (who after all are not exclusively Republican), mainly because the number one reason they are protesting is because they don’t have jobs that would prevent them from protesting. The Dems have a lot to fear from these people, who are mostly disenchanted liberals.

“I guess that last sign is simpler than “Honk if you have a mortgage, a credit card, a business loan, a student loan or financing on your car.” “

I’m more focused on the shirt (Mexican crossing); the West Coast protesters see the roots of many of their employment and fiscal problems streaming across their southern border every day.

These protesters are hardly “in the bag” for Obama.

I’ll say it again... these are the very people who gladly accepted “O’s” eligibility to lead and voted him into office. They swallowed ‘hope and change’ whole.

NOW that they have what they wanted.... why demonstrate????? It makes NO sense at all.

You demonstrate against the OPPOSITION.... not the guy YOU put in the WH
