Where’s Mitt on this?

I believe in real marriage between one man and one woman.

What Mr. Santorum forgets is that there is nothing in the CONSTITUTION that allows the federal govt. to decide this for us.

Next!

I agree with Rick Santorum on the need for a national consensus on what constitutes a “marriage” Yet I recognize we currently have DOMA which would protect Marriage in those States which yet acknowledge the Supreme Power -and the fundamental institution of our society. Those States in rebellion ought be allowed their deceptions within their borders alone. If DOMA were defended as every President is under solemn Oath to preserve, protect, and defend our Laws there ought be no need for yet another law.The problem with the fraud in the Oval Office is Barry Soetoro aka Barak Hussein Obama II has NEVER manifest any intent to honor the Oath —nor to preserve protect and defend the Laws— One cannot defend what one disbelieves. and abhors .which is WHY Obama is by his very nature UNFIT for the Office of the President.

The “fudge packers” and the “Lesbos” will do what they choose to do. This is NOT a Federal issue, it is a State's issue. DADT worked!

Santorum and Bachmann just can’t stop attacking the other conservatives.

Imagine if they had spent all their energy attacking and destroying Romney. They are playing with fire by constantly attacking the other conservatives while giving the liberal Mitt a pass.

I like Cain, but Santorum is right.

Santorum Sez:
““Leaders should be out there advocating for what is in the best interest of our society and what’s in the best interest of mothers and fathers and children and I’m going to do that,” Santorum said. “I have done it and I have done it here in Iowa and I don’t know of anybody else in this campaign, including Herman Cain, who has made that kind of blanket commitment to the institution of marriage and the stability of the family.”

He’s right, no one else has made that kind of commitment to these issues. But the problem Ricky ole pal, is those are not the key issues in 2012. What’s in the best interest of mothers and fathers and kids is that we save the American dream from the socialists. PERIOD.

If we do that, we can work on these other very important issues with the liberty we still have. If we have no economic liberty, we won’t have the time or ability to work on them ever. Get a grip Rick.

Santorum is wrong.

States get to decide but cannot impose it on other states.

If you get married in New York, then move to Texas, you are no longer married.

A marriage license is not equal to a driver’s license, otherwise my concealed carry license would be forced on every other state.

I am way done with the phony constitutional Amendment proposals. Still waiting for Sen Grahamnesty's on birthright citizenship.

The only thing we could use at the Federal level is a constitutional amendment that protects DOMA, that Federal benefits only go to opposite sex married couples. We don't need the Federal government telling states who they can marry.

Santorum is looking like a stalking horse for Romney. He goes after every conservative but leaves Mitt alone in criticism pretty much without exception. I am hoping some of the also-rans get out soon so we can get about 5 people on the stage vs. 9.

Santorum’s a whiner. I’m not motivated by someone who perpetually looks like he’s trying to carve a loaf. Nor does good hair do anything for me. Ditto those blessed by the establishment.
Cain/Gingrich is my preferred combo.

He’s right, and should stay focused on the issue rather than “hitting” another candidate as the headline suggested.
Principled conservative position is needed. Someone’s got to lay it out properly.
States rights doesn’t always apply. It didn’t apply with slavery and it shouldn’t apply in this case either, but we need to make the case — now.

Marriage is the perview of the individual states, is it not? Cain is right on this. Defend DOMA and that should be enough.

“There needs to be a uniform definition of marriage in this country”

Isn’t Santorum Catholic? If so, marriage is a religious sanctity. Any legal arrangement made by the state outside of the church isn’t marriage, it is a civil union... even heterosexuals that get “married” at city hall. As long as the state doesn’t force the church to perform the rite, marriage is protected as far as I am concerned.
