World population nears 7 billion: Can we handle it?

She's a 40-year-old mother of eight, with a ninth child due soon. The family homestead in a Burundi village is too small to provide enough food, and three of the children have quit school for lack of money to pay required fees.

"I regret to have made all those children," says Godelive Ndageramiwe. "If I were to start over, I would only make two or three."

(snip)

By the time Ndageramiwe's ninth child arrives, and any further members of the Kasadha clan, the world's population will have passed a momentous milestone. As of Oct. 31, according to the U.N. Population Fund, there will be 7 billion people sharing Earth's land and resources.

I never wanted more than one or two kids.

My first wife and I had two girls. My new wife brought a 15 year old daughter into our marriage with her.

We are expecting (at 42 and 40 respectively) our first son.

We were not planning on having another child but God blessed us. We are debating contraception vs sterilization after our son is delivered.

Me? I’d just as soon he have a sibling closer to his age....but I am not the one that would be getting pregnant.

There are how many billions of acres of land on this earth that are not currently lived on or producing food?

The earth can handle it.

Congratulations;)

I know of several women having their first child in their late 30’s & 40’s.

As noted elsewhere on this thread - life expectancy is going up and we are adjusting accordingly.

Good luck and God bless.

I am not a Catholic and do not answer to the Church.

Have known many Catholic women who use(d) birth control pills, IUDs, tubal ligation and abstinence (when mad at husband).

I do not however, countenance abortion, extra familial IVF, sperm donors, egg donors, rental wombs, homosexual adoption or other perversions of God’s creation. And no, I am not a Mormon.

Next question?

God tells us to be fruitful and multiply. Trust that He will provide and He will.

How? Because it’s so easy to be that way.

Like it's easier to burn than to put yourself out if you're on fire?

Founded by whom??

The early church was founded by Christ, not Catholicism which came hundreds of years later. Try again.

It isn’t our job to handle it. Wherever they reside, it is their job to handle it.

You can’t micro manage the world. It won’t work.

The founders of the United States knew that many moons ago. Shame people didn’t listen and learn.

Notice ‘fruitful’ is first. Then multiply.

I did not post this thread to advocate birth control - but to illustrate that there are many people on this earth who are bringing children into a life of poverty and deprivation. The third worlders appear to have lost their natural instincts & abilities to survive and provide the basics for themselves and their children. How did that happen?

I agree - however, for decades, the UN and all the do-gooders have been systematically ‘helping’ with food and funds; administered by the corrupt ‘leaders’ of those countries.

The best ‘invasion’ was 19th & 20th century missionary work - but that appears to have been banished or replaced with the UN (unethical nannies).

One more ‘teach a man to fish - don’t give him a dead flounder’.

Anyone who can’t handle it should leave.

Yay! someone who knows the truth!

For the record, last I heard, muslim birthrate was an average of 11. That should scare us.

No - but God wrote natural law onto our hearts, including non-Catholics. Accepting contraception is to deface what God has written on everyone’s heart.

I figured it was projections if Big Pharm can get the UN to help it distribute Viagra throughout the Third world.

That green line needs some help.

I’m sorry - but it’s very difficult to take religious instruction from a person whose pseudonym (phonetically speaking) is I AM Pimp.

I looked it up, and you’re right about the replacement birthrates. They assume Europe will go negative in a decade or so, but Africa will soar. They don’t factor in transcontinental migration.

So, doing the math, it looks like Europe is about to go even further downhill towards Islamification.
