There are security fences all over the country. Somehow the prospect of tunnels hasn’t deterred people from putting up fences.

The difference being that both sides of the fence are inside the country and can be monitored. We have no control over the other side of a border fence. Today the illegals approach the border fence essentially unhindered and uninterrupted. Wherever there is fence along the border now, there are also tunnels under it. Some of the tunnels are reinforced with brace supports, have air piped in, and electricity.

Wake up. A fence is only a small part of the answer. By itself, it is worthless.

That’s your problem lady. I know very little about Mormons

Flaggy sounds like youre the one with a problem...

The doctrines, practices, beliefs and history of Mormonism have been copied right out of their own sermons, documents, books and websites and posted in these threads for years...

You have no excuse when you claim you “know very little about Mormons” because most if not all thats possible to be known has been published in FR repeatedly...

It’s in his Phase 2, the flat tax. Ok, he mentions repealing the 16 amendment at a point down the road from the institution of his original plan.

Revamping our tax code really does need to be done.

Newt would be great in whatever position he served, but to take advantage of his vast knowledge and incredible ability to quickly identify the core issue and offer viable solutions, it’d be wise to have him set and articulate policy. Maybe Secretary of State, Chief of Staff, Senior Advisor or even VP. Right now, Newt’s my second choice for president.

Absolutely. And as someone has pointed out, the excise taxes that are already there need also to be lowered.

However, as far as the sales tax proposal, repealing the 16th Amendment is not just a collateral issue, it is a threshold issue and needs to happen BEFORE his creation of the sales tax to prevent a disastrous result.

Perry came off as desperate and shrill. He was classless in his accusations against Romney as being a liar. That only gives ammo to the other side. I don't like Romney (at all) but I also see no need to form a circular firing squad for Obozo's benefit. Perry's objections to a passive barrier on the border still ring hollow. I agree with technology and boots on the ground but the primary obstacle still needs to be an actual OBSTACLE!! I like the double fence idea with an area of sensor rigged tanglefoot for the first 25 yards. Tangle foot is barbed wire strung between ankle high stakes at complex close angles. Intruders get "hung up" (hence the term tanglefoot) and then the sensors alert ground forces to move in and either apprehend or engage as needed. Not setting this simple goal as an initial barrier is disingenious.

Other than that, I think everybody scored some magnificent points, even loony Paul. I have to agree that more and more I'm in favor of withdrawing all our forces from overseas and leave our navy as the quick reaction deterrent. I'm sick of foreigners soaking up our cash from all those bases and having our troops go in harms way without any express cause. I'll happily vote for any of these guys over Obozo. I love Cain but I really also think Newt is rising as well. He'd rip Barry a new exiting point of excrement (besides his mouth) in any debate. On reflection I also have to agree with the assessment of Michelle Bachmann and the others in reference to 999 which is do NOT under any circumstances give any Congress another means to tax!

huh? Are you being deliberately obtuse?

So using your examples, because I disagree with mormon doctrine, a “core belief” as you put it, I should disassociate myself from my family and friends because that is what makes them who they are?

So using your argument, mormons should disassociate themselves from Christianity as well since they hold core theological differences and go about the world claiming to be christian while trying to convert Christians to mormonism.

We should never discuss theological issues because then we would be in danger of being “against” someone’s core beliefs, their very “essence”.

Do you associate only with those who you are in complete agreement?

Mark 16:15[KJV] And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

I asked what you mean by the Founding Fathers being “dead dunked into Mormonism”, and you simply repeat yourself. Mormonism didn’t exist until the 1820’s, some 40-50 years after the founding of our country. Please explain what you mean by our Founding Fathers being “dead dunked into Mormonism”. And no, I’m not Mormon, it’s just that your post makes no sense as written...

Well, Mormonism makes no sense whatsoever. I mean you've asked a Q based on the reality that it wouldn't seem to make sense. (Only in Mormonism, right?)

But TN is right.

Here's a vanity I posted about this in July that explains it:
Lds Temple Haunted? Did Declaration of Independence signers appear as ghosts to leader? [Vanity]

The Lds then dead-dunked them and other eminent men and women in history. For a list of those they dead-dunked, see:
Visit of Former Eminent Men in the St. George Temple

So, the time frame that this eventual Lds "prophet" said the signers of the Declaration appeared to him was the month of August, 1877.

So imagine that. The "living prophet" that Mormons today still go ga-ga about for temporarily de-polygamizing their earthly lives had "another vision" just 13 years prior to that decision.

Cain called the prisoners in Guantanamo “hostages.”

What! He didn't???? If he did, as I have not heard that, then this again shows he's got heavy homework to do on foreign affairs and what's happening on the world stage. He doesn't seem to grasp much except possibly surface info his people have shared with him. With the international community fast positioning themselves it's not good Cain isn't up to par.999 isn't going to mean jack if we're attacked again....

first responsibility is of Pres. is national security...he really needs help in that area.

Excellent Qs in holding Wintertime to consistency.

I know you're not holding your breath for a response indicating consistency.

Upon pointing out a fellow FREEPER's inconsistent standards, advice, or logic, I've yet to hear from them how hey've taken that to heart and made a course corrective.

Pride tends to get in the way.
