_____________
As most of you know there was some confusion as to Cain’s answer last night in the Piers Morgan interview on abortion. Here is Cain’s statement:
Dear Friends,
The abortion issue is very serious. I believe strongly that this is true, and I believe that you do too.
Because the news media loves to make mountains out of mole hills, I want to be very clear about where I stand on abortion:
I am 100% pro-life, period.
Let me explain. In an interview yesterday with Piers Morgan on CNN, I was asked questions about abortion policy and the role of the President.
If you listen to the line of questioning, it is clear that Mr. Morgan was asking if I, as president, would simply “order” people to not seek an abortion.
My answer was focused on the role of the President. The President has no constitutional authority to order any such action by anyone. That was the point I was trying to convey.
As to my political view on abortion...again, I am pro-life. End of story.
As President, I will appoint judges who understand the original intent of the Constitution. Judges who are committed to the rule of law know that the Constitution contains no right to take the life of unborn children.
I will oppose government funding of abortion. I will veto any legislation that contains funds for Planned Parenthood. I will do everything that a President can do, consistent with his constitutional role, to advance the culture of life.
Friends, please know that I appreciate all of your support. Together, we will put America back on the right track.
Sincerely,
Herman Cain

It’s going to be fun watching the socialist libtards try to spin it as racist to vote for Cain. And Cain is black. Zero is only half black. I’m going to enjoy that.
The last time this system worked, it was part-time and voluntary.
people are tired of washington games.
people want a straight shooter.
This idea, I think, is kind of symbolic.
I’ve lived in DC a long time. Staffers are paid starvation wages. The country is run by 20-somethings with low wages.
Congressmen don’t make a lot. Federal employees, however, are cradle-to-grave comfortable.
It’s the perks related to power that makes them well-off. But salaries?
Glenn Reynolds’ idea is better — if they become lobbyists, 50% of their salaries will be taxed.
Mr. Cain is a terribly interesting man. I really like him.
Oh... My... Goodness.
I wonder why no one asks Romney why he lives in NH. My guess is that he crapped up Mass and left for new pastures. Romney spouts what a great job he did as governor but moves to NH, I assume to get away from the high taxes, Romneycare, and other damage he did to the state.
Propose ending retirement too, and get their own health insurance. A deductible IRA just like the rest of us. Take the $$$ out of it, don’t let it become a career.
Lifetime benefits for 2 or 6 years or any time at all should be eliminated.
Term limits. Congress 10 year max. House 6 years. Senate 10 years - 1st term 6 years, 2nd term 4 years. House to Senate - fits 10 year max. That’s plenty of time.
Probably doesn’t drink beer often, but when he does, does he drink Dos Eckes?
Now that I do like...as our economy suffers the ones in office should take a pay cut too. Gold star on this one!
Congressmen get perks that compensate for many monetary expenses. Problem is the housing is sky high in Northern Virginia and the commute is a nightmare.
No one’s going to want to be Cain’s VP now! LOL
The salary of a congressman varies. Rank and file members of both the House and the Senate make a salary of $174,000 annually. The Speaker of the House makes $223,500 annually and the House Majority and Minority leaders both make $193,400 annually. In the Senate, the Majority and Minority leaders also make $193,400 annually. Add their perks and if they can’t live off that...tough. They should take a cut.
yep, and it’s even better when the shot also hits the bullseye
The 27th doesn't mention presidential compensation but I imagine there's something similar in federal law where it would not take effect without an intervening election.
That’s a GREAT question, and should be asked. Perhaps Cain or Newt will ask, most likely Santorum will.
And who knows how much they make under the table or skim off their re-election funds. They’re all a bunch of mobsters. They could take a 150% pay cut and still get rich in Congress.
