Does he know how many attorneys and CPA’s will be out of business the day after a flat tax goes into effect? You’re talking a minimum of hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of unemployed people.
Not that I think its not worth doing of course, I’ve believed in it forever, but it sure won’t be helping employment now.

Naturally, I’m against any and all forms of taxation. But given the choice, I like Cain’s fair tax proposal (phase 2 of 999) better than a flat income tax tax. Why?
Firstly, because a sales tax is more consistently visible than an income tax—the latter only shows up on your paychecks and tax returns, etc. I’d rather keep it constantly thrown up in people’s face how much they’re being extorted by the State. A sales tax accomplishes this end better than a flat tax.
Secondly, a sales tax minimizes class warfare tactics by better assuring that everyone has “skin in the game” so to speak. An income tax is still a tax on success, whether it’s flat or progressive.

He never claimed that he did, he has already said that he had been talking to Steve Forbes—so what are you spouting off about?
If the Republican field devolves into a battle of tax plans it hurts us all in the General. Yes, tax reform is important and a key to fast and long term economic growth, but it is not the centerpiece of defeating Barack Obama (The Most Important Step to Saving the Economy.) It will be all too easy for the Left and their media allies to portray the Republican field as obsessed with tax rates and doing the bidding of their rich constituency who want to pay less taxes. Republicans need to be talking about Jobs, Jobs, Jobs. Growth Growth Growth. Tax reform can be the foundation, the keystone, the center piece but you have to call it a “jobs plan” and stop talking about “tax plans”
Today it belongs to Perry.
He is the one in the race that is promoting it.

Jobs are a symptom of the diseases of taxes and regulations. If we treat the disease, the symptoms will clear up.
Exactly. There is plenty of room for people to like other candidates’ plans while not necessarily being full bore into the candidate. I really like Paul’s idea to cut $1 trillion. But that doesnt mean I like everything else about him. It would be nice to have an honest debate where people could support multiple ideas from multiple candidates without being called a bot or a sell out to another candidate.
