Forget the eye-rolling. Lets look at the numbers. Herman Cain is ahead of Romney in virtually all of the polls conducted in the past two weeks. In both Iowa and nation-wide Cain leads Romney by 30% to 22%,according to Public Policy Polling, a respected pollster. Meanwhile the latest NBC-Marist poll puts Cain ahead of Romney in South Carolina by 30%-26%, and shows Cain and Romney neck-and-neck in Florida. Cain leads in Ohio by 15%, and in Hawaii by 12%. Only in New Hampshire does Romney stubbornly hold a solid double-digit lead (15%).

Go Herman!! Ignore the elites. The base has your back!
Cain's got to drop the sale tax part of his 999 plan until he first calls for a repeal of the 16th Amendment. He needs to make some adjustments here, and he's got be better able to explain his positions simply and clearly. Same with Perry. All this stumbling and bumbling is helping the Romneys and Obamas of the world.
I won’t support any new type of tax until the old tax is gone, won’t even conisder it, but that doesn’t mean I won’t vote for Herman, because I certainly will.
I’ve already decided. I’m not voting for Romney and I’m not voting for Perry — neither in the primary or the general election. Neither of them are conservatives.
If the GOP belittles Cain out of the election I will be a no show at the polls.
They better get behind populism rather then try and lead it by the nose on this one.
Still, Romney seems to hit a ceiling of roughly 25% in nearly every poll of Republican voters.
Another poster said Romney has 25% and that was a good head start. I responded that it wasn't a head start, it was a ceiling. And it is. Romney has averaged 25% for the past 5 years. His high in the 2008 election was 24.6% and he's at about that now.
Big changes are on the horizon, for the better. Best days are yet in front of us.
I want Cain!
I know he’s not perfect....I STILL want him...warts and all.
The best thing he has going for him right now is he’s not Mitt Romney.
Started out supporting Sarah and still do. After some time wandering in the wilderness I am starting to lean towards Newt. Cain would not be a bad choice.
He lost me when he supported Global Warming and ridiculed the Ryan Plan.
He lost his MoJo for me. He and the wife just don't inspire me at all!
What gets me though is how former slave/Jim Crow state South Carolina is going to put a true black American in the White House yet still must submit to a racist Department of Justice through the anachronistic, subjective and unjust requirements of the Voting Rights Act.
We may not have November congressional elections in 2012 because our constitutionally required redistricting has to be “approved” by the Obama “Civil Rights” bigots first.
And they ain't in no hurry. Now if we had let our liberals draw the districts the DOJ would have rubber stamped the plans before the ink dried.
I agree with you. That’s the problem I have with 999.
The government never, never restrains itself when it comes to money. You do 999...then day the GOP doesnt control the government is the day the Democrats jack the sales tax up and put through more socialist junk.
It just opens the door to future tax hikes.
Piss on Romney and ALL his sycophants
In a way they are right, because there are many good elements in our system, and we risk them if we resort to change unless we have to. I think we still need to wait to see what is over the next hill. But what we do need is to choose someone who is not afraid of what lies on the other side. I am thinking of someone like Grant.
On the first day of Shiloh, his troops took a mauling, much of it owning to Grant's mistakes. Sherman-- a very excitable general--played a big role in saving the day. Met Grant on the battlefield and said something like, we took a beating today. To which Grant calmly replies, Yes, but we'll whip 'em tomorrow. And he did. Grant was a rock. We need such a man in the coming crisis. Pray God we find him!
Have you ever seen lies like that on this board about Cain? Comparing Patton to Cain is just idol-worship of a 12 year old. Try to find some class somewhere.
Yep, don’t trust the us federal government at all.
Do away with the income tax before you discuss one damn thing else, or take a flying leap.
Still gonna vote for Herman though, no other candidate even comes close to what this man has accomplished in his life, and no other candidate is even remotely trustworthy IMO.
“The media might call him just a pizza guy. They called Reagan just an actor.”
What a great Line! Very true!
The government never, never restrains itself when it comes to money. You do 999...then day the GOP doesnt control the government is the day the Democrats jack the sales tax up and put through more socialist junk. It just opens the door to future tax hikes.I agree that it does not restrain itself. However, that is precisely why you need a 999 plan including the sales tax. Think about it, 100% of people will pay the sales tax. All businesses will pay the corporate tax (with no deductions, so GE will pay taxes unlike it does now), and all but the poor will pay a 9% flat tax (no deductions). This puts every single voter in virtually the same boat where they will get real mad if you try to increase their taxes. When you broaden it out, you can lower rates and stop pitting one class against the other.
Will the dems, over time, try to raise the corp rate, or the income tax rate for higher earners? Sure. They always will for all time -- REGARDLESS of what the rate is. That is who they are. So, your argument is moot, really. But at least we press the "RESET" button with this plan.
Cain is more than a 'pizza guy'. He is, literally, a rocket scientist. He's also a mathematician and successful CEO. The media knows all this; it's just more disparaging (and dishonest) to call him the 'pizza guy' as Hitlery did.
Your quote reminds me of the 1980 Reagan campaign -- I remember it will.
I was fond of a the following: "Why not an actor; we've had a clown for the past 4 years."
