Steven Greenhut: Rural rebellion brewing
Orange County Register ^ | Oct 28, 2011 | Steven Greenhut

Sacramento is Government Central, a land of overly pensioned bureaucrats and restaurant discounts for state workers. But way up in the North State, one finds a small but hard-edged rural populace that views state and federal officials as the main obstacles to their quality of life.

These rural folks, living in the shadow of the majestic Mount Shasta, believe that they are being driven away so that their communities can essentially go back to the wild, to conform to a modern environmentalist ethos that puts wildlands above humanity.

As the locals told it during the Defend Rural America conference Oct. 22 at the Siskiyou Golden Fairgrounds, environmental officials are treading on their liberties, traipsing unannounced on their properties, confronting ranchers with guns drawn to enforce arcane regulatory rules and destroying their livelihoods in the process.

The evening's main event: a panel featuring eight county sheriffs (seven from California, one from Oregon) who billed themselves as "Constitution sheriffs."

They vowed to stand up for the residents of their communities against what they say is an unconstitutional onslaught from regulators in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. In particular, they took issue with the federal government's misnamed Travel Management Plan, which actually is designed to shut down public travel in the forests.

There are certainly enough people in California who do not care at all for the Californication going on there. Jim Rob is only one of many millions. If I were thinking strategically, I’d put the servers somewhere like Mississippi, where civil commotion against conservatism would be much more unlikely. But then the Robs would have to follow, because they manage the system.

The township where my land sits has only 700 people in it, and the locals are getting sick of big government interfering, to the point of rewriting some of the local codes just to keep the feds from taking over certain aspects. I might have to get a copy of that to give to the town board.

Showing up at my place with a drawn weapon is a good way to get yourself dead.

I would imagine these Americans are extremely Self-Reliant...a process citified welfare folks like some in California and thousands we saw during Katrina don’t cotton to. I feel those Constitutional Sheriffs will stand their ground....now this is something truly worth standing for!

"My rural Colorado county is surrounded by national forest. We folks here live cheek to jowl next to federal property. But a Sagebrush Rebellion is always a good thing. Distant bureaucrats know next to nothing about local conditions and needs."

I'm enjoying the default process with shrinking government ahead due to shrinking government-derived incomes. No county land use regulations against American property rights. No more "open space." No more Agenda 21. No more "master plan." No more moronic comments complaining about "overgrazing." No more trouble from local commies. No clucking from NIMBY hags or false rumors for their effeminate "partners." No more trouble from local or federal commies.

Pinging the Agenda 21 list! If you want on or off the list, please freemail me.

It is a relatively low volume ping list. The thread on which we are keeping all articles we have been examining can be found here:

From the article:

“In particular, they [the “Constitutional Sheriffs] took issue with the federal government’s misnamed Travel Management Plan, which actually is designed to shut down public travel in the forests.”

Hmmmmmmm and guess what goes on in the public forests, boys and girls???

THAT’S RIGHT!!! Cartels are growing some nice drugs to sell to you on the playground!

It is not actually against the law to be poor but it does seem to be against the law to LIVE like a very poor person now. If you live in a shack I suppose they expect you to move out and live...where...under a bridge??? On the other hand if you are in the “occupy” group you can occupy someone else’s property.

They’ll still find a way to oppress you as long as you have something left to steal. The only way that true freedom can exist over time is in a very thinly populated area and maybe not even there with the ease of travel that we have now. The bastards would fly in a helicopter to steal your last dime.

Does anyone have the Agenda 21 map of the US that shows the connected wildlife corridors - with the isolated ‘sustainable cities (no need for cars) that they plan? Isolated communities to herb us into - not connected to other communities and requiring a permit to leave on to travel to the other -

These minds are really out there, folks. They really believe they are so far above us in intelligence that they have to right to herd us, control us, and they even have their numbers of how many of us need to be eliminated ‘to save the world - for them to better rule, of course.
