Steven Greenhut: Rural rebellion brewing
Orange County Register ^ | Oct 28, 2011 | Steven Greenhut

Sacramento is Government Central, a land of overly pensioned bureaucrats and restaurant discounts for state workers. But way up in the North State, one finds a small but hard-edged rural populace that views state and federal officials as the main obstacles to their quality of life.

These rural folks, living in the shadow of the majestic Mount Shasta, believe that they are being driven away so that their communities can essentially go back to the wild, to conform to a modern environmentalist ethos that puts wildlands above humanity.

As the locals told it during the Defend Rural America conference Oct. 22 at the Siskiyou Golden Fairgrounds, environmental officials are treading on their liberties, traipsing unannounced on their properties, confronting ranchers with guns drawn to enforce arcane regulatory rules and destroying their livelihoods in the process.

The evening's main event: a panel featuring eight county sheriffs (seven from California, one from Oregon) who billed themselves as "Constitution sheriffs."

They vowed to stand up for the residents of their communities against what they say is an unconstitutional onslaught from regulators in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. In particular, they took issue with the federal government's misnamed Travel Management Plan, which actually is designed to shut down public travel in the forests.

I love Nor Cal!! If I could find a job there,I would join the rebellion. You think we could get Hermains electric fence? Mexico can have the dessert south. It’s just not worth saving.

Sheriffs are the ultimate law in your county. They can tell anyone, including the FEDS, to take a hike.

Sherill Mack, retired, Arizona, fought the feds all the way to the SCOTUS - and WON. He is helping to educate people and sheriffs across the county. You can get his booklet on his site - to HAND DELIVER to you sheriff, so they can never say they don’t know. It’s their DUTY to protect YOU from the feds.

The idea of a rural rebellion or any kind of rebellion in California sounds great

The reality is: Rebellion in America is damned near impossible.

They'll use the IRS, the EPA, the BATF and, if really serious, the National Guard. You cannot beat them. They are twenty million strong.

This isn't 1900. It will never be 1900 again. We blew it.

“And these are people who have moved far away from everyone else, but still the libs seek them out to bust their chops.”

Perhaps conservatives should turn the tables on the Hollywood leftists. Demand the beach at Maibu be returned to its natural state. The multimillion dollar houses should be bulldozed and hauled away, allowing nature to reclaim the waterside. The same goes for the Hollywood hills, Holmby Hills, Beverly Hills, and Bel Air, Pacific Palisades. We should return those areas to their natural state. While we are at it go after La Jolla, the Napa wine country and the wealthy neighborhoods of San Francisco.

“On the other hand if you are in the “occupy” group you can occupy someone else’s property.”

Those people are just play acting. In fact, this reminds me of Marie Antoinette and how she and her court ladies would play at being milkmaids.

And I love how when actual homeless people show up the occupiers give them the gate-stat!

Quite a group.

Assuming that's what they really want. Or, do they want them thar rural folks out so they have those majestic views for their mansions?

Remember, one of the pillars of the religion of liberalism is hypocracy, along with deceit, and abortion, and....

The map - Remember, people actually ‘mapped’ this all out and are trying to bring it about - of course, per the map, the human use areas are very small - but, part of Agenda 21, remember, is eliminating billions of people to their idea of ‘sustainable’ which includes small enough to be easily ruled - by them - and enough to provide all the services they need.

Frightening to think these people exist - and they do - all over the world.

Bill Gates, with his Foundation, is working hard at implementing ZERO population control.

Sam.

I am by no means an expert on California politics. So I assume that your predictions about the future are possible or even probable. But against all odds, we all need to fight like hell to save our Republic. get positive and stay positive.

20 mill? no way...

800,000 combined vs 80 mil "owners."

Only 120,000 full time law enforcement personnel working for the federal government. The reset are state and local and I don't see them wanting to "go there."

National Guard? BETTER not try to go there, that is going to pizz off another 50 mill.

I agree with you. I love Northern California too. I say give San Francisco and El Lay to Mexico (or whoever wants them) and keep the rest.

Officious crooks/commies, especially, have to be able to pay expenses for stealing (fuel, transportation, bribes, lawyers, lobbying, vices, etc.). Without a large manufacturing base (sustainable revenues) or a valuable currency, they'll have nothing--not even debt liquidity. They'll be reduced to riskier attempts, such as those quoted in excerpts here and be more regularly caught soon. Real justice. FRiends, build fences and install camera systems and other security. That includes rural areas.

47% of Americans “admit” to owning guns. I assume that means that others don’t “admit” to owning guns.

0h0mo has been the best gun and ammo salesman, ever.
