The Worst of All Possible Presidents
Townhall.com ^ | November 5, 2011 | John Ransom

Let’s just stick to skills. Let’s not talk about how bad his policies are.

Because I can’t think of a person who is less suited and less interested in being president of the United States than Barack Obama is.

I’m reminded of this as I see Europe drift from debt to crisis to dissolution.

“Events in Greece over the past 24 hours have underscored the importance of implementing the plan, fully and as quickly as possible,” said the US president according to Euronews.

I didn’t understand that there was a real plan for the Greek debt crisis. If there is one, certainly Obama has nothing to do with it.

People like to pretend at times that who our president is doesn’t matter. They say presidents get either too much blame or too much credit. Can’t say much about the credit part, but it’s not possible to blame Obama enough for the poor state of the United States and the lack of leadership and confidence the United States engenders around the world today.

In our economy, our relations with other powers, our reputation around the globe, we’ve become a laughingstock under Obama. “Hope and Change” has become a hackneyed punch line of lost chances, hopes destroyed and dreams knowingly betrayed by golf vacations.

Obama has offered us nothing but our blood, our toil, our tears and our sweat; and for what?

So public employees can continue to bust public budgets on Cadillac benefits that you and I can’t afford. All this while he pushes austerity down the throats of a sovereign Greece.

I’m tired of Obama’s “leading from behind.” That’s not leading, that’s pushing

Don’t think for one minute that Obama would accept for his union friends the type of cuts he says he favors for Greece.

We’ve gone from each according to his means to each according to his union. We’ve gone from a post-partisan, post-racial America, to all partisan, all the time.

The president of the United States once, not long ago, stood up to Communism when they tried to take over South Korea- in this, he was sustained by the whole world. Today we’re left with the president being lectured to by Chinese Communists regarding reckless spending; and after being lectured to by Chinese Communists, in return, all Obama can offer to Europe is lectures about their own profligate ways.

It’s inconceivable that a Reagan or a Kennedy would let things drift with a world in crisis. A Reagan or a Kennedy would have acted, if only in a moral sense. Both George Bushes had enough sense for that.

"I am confident that Europe has the capacity to meet this challenge. I know it isn't easy, but what is absolutely critical, and what the world looks for in moments such as this, is action," said Obama after a G20 meeting on Europe’s debt crisis, according to the Wall Street Journal.

But don’t look for action from Obama. If he could attack Greece with a covert drone missile strike, he’d probably do so in order to avoid having to exercise real leadership.

He’s been the "drone" president on fiscal issues here in the US too, having dinner with his family and getting a hair cut while his aides bickered about bailouts.

There was a day when the US could help exercise some leadership on the European stage. But if Obama’s interested in the European debt issue, then that’s news to me, German chancellor Angela Merkel, French president Sarkozy, members of the G20, fans of All My Children or anyone with electricity.

Obama has become the absentee landlord of the world, not presiding over the budget; abstaining from the debt ceiling; absent from Europe during the debt crisis; issuing a bull against a tsunami as enjoyed his own National Lampoon’s Brazilian Vacation.

If I were Greek, I’d be worried about the missile strike.

I stand firm that technically while Obama may be signing documents in the Oval Office and sleeping in the Whitehouse legally for all the right reasons he failed to qualify thus his place in history as POTUS can be challenged, as it will be eventually.

To pick a better President, just close your eyes, open a Manhattan (or Queens) phone directory and run you finger down the page and stop - now open your eyes. I guarantee this person will make a better President than Barack Hussein Soetero Obama.

Of course he’s be powerless, because the New World Order Communist machine wouldn’t be backing him or her.

We still don’t know who this guy is...college grades and thesis under seal...passport records too. Birth cerificate still in question, and will be until the original copy is produced. Social security number issued in Connecticut in ‘77, a state he’d never been to.

Some funny funding/loans for his home in Chicago. Tony Rezko’s fingerprints all over the transaction.

So our media covers twelve year old maybe sex charges against Cain.

What a joke.

No matter how many times I see a heading describing Obama as either bad, inept, idiotic or even deranged I have to mentally correct the description.

Obama failed to qualify, he isn’t and never will be POTUS as far as I am concerned, he is a squatter.

My latest feverish ravings about this president is that we are living through a quiet revolution a la Pol Pot in Cambodia after the Viet Nam years.

Think about it. The middle class in America is dying slowly in place as if we were pushed out of our homes into the fields. The academics, who have no souls, are in charge with their economic justice redistribution theories just like those fools that destroyed Cambodia.

How did it work out then? We are so screwed.

Me too. Anyone who gave his record a cursory look could see he was a far, far, far-left looneytune Marxist academic hack. You wouldn't pick him to organize the faculty Christmas party ... why would you pick him to be the leader of the free world?

Obozo was elected because a lot of voters, aided and abetted by a news media in full coronation mode, "acted stupidly". They made up a competent, centrist, fair, non-partisan Obama in their own minds who has never existed in real life.

Like you know a secret and no one wants to hear it? The secret is: We are reliving the beginnings of Hitler’s Germany. Nazi Germany happened because the populace was just minding their business and trying to earn a living for their families, while evil was ignoring Germany’s laws and taking over the government. Same thing happening in the U.S.A. today. Our executive branch is being administered by evil, ignoring our laws, and taking over the government. This is what the Democrat party wanted??? Really???

I strongly believe that Obummer is moving us into Fascism. Of course, I understand that most of his “subjects” have no clue what that really means and will vote fotr him again.
I am looking for him to soon announce that all “corporations” are just screwing us poor citizens and that Government must now strongly control all Business, after all he is only trying to protect us. This will be the beginning of our end.

I also strongly believe that with the announced Iraq withdrawal by the end of the year and the just announced Afghanistan surrender, He is trying to accomplish two things: Help his reelection and then attack Iran.

Technically, The Office of President of The United States has been vacant since noon January 20, 2009. 0bama is not, and can never be, qualified for the office he has usurped since then. All laws, treaties, executive (dictatorial) orders, proclamations, etc. issued by him are null and void.

He wants America “transformed”, which to him means the destruction of our Constitutional Republic.

>>>Like you know a secret and no one wants to hear it? The secret is: We are reliving the beginnings of Hitler’s Germany. Same thing happening in the U.S.A. today. Our executive branch is being administered by evil, ignoring our laws, and taking over the government. This is what the Democrat party wanted??? Really???<<<

I agree with your premise. The end result of progressive, liberal, socialist - whatever name you want to give to government by elite planners - is totalitarianism. Did the Democrats want this? Did they have a choice on they embarked on their utopian vision of America?

However, I’m going to disagree with your conclusion. The United States is not Germany. Our cultures are distinct. The Germans had already been acculurated to the idea of benevolent kings - Bismark, Kaiser Wilhelm, the little princes in those tiny kingdoms that made up Germany after the 30 Years War. Hitler offered Germans a package that they could support.

Americanas are different. I don’t see a Hitler or a Stalin or a Pol Pot in our future. In fact, I see something far more sinister. I see lip service to individual rights, while the planners work in bureaucracies in far off Washington, D.C., hammering out regulations and rules about everything for everyone. Call it the Comintern with a nice appearance. You’ll get a chance to make your views known during the public comment period, and your ideas will make it into the regulations. Nice folks from the Dept. of Agriculture or the EPA or the Commerce Department will sit and chat and help you work through the red tape. It will be scrupulously fair. Your rights will be listed.

Slowly, slowly, the state will become involved in every aspect of life, even more than it is now, and you’ll be in a fog of regulation. You can listen to Rush complain about it, you can hear Levin rail about it, you can go to church and pray about it (although not in school), you can have all the guns you want. After all, who are you going to shoot - that nice neighbor just following rules written by some other guy just following the law? The president will be a marshmallow nothing, like Obama, and Leno and Letterman will mock him gently. Put it on your Facebook page. You’ve got a right.

Eventually, if you are really ornery, you’ll be asked to attend a workshop on citizenship at a swank hotel on the seaside with a free continental breakfast listening to pleasant speakers invite you to take part in activities designed to teach you new ways of thinking, after which you’ll sign a little contract promising not to be so loud and opinionated, and you should be lucky to have a job, so don’t complain about what you can and can’t say at work. The state will only need a few show trials every decade, well televised and reported in the media, to show everyone that following the rules is better than fighting them. After all, you still have your rights.

I think I’m correct about this. I hope I’m just a lunatic wearing a tin-foil hat. God help us.

You are probably correct. But why do the Democrats want this? Why do they want control over every aspect of our lives?

It is the very nature of socialism.

Within every socialist, there lives a totalitarian. They know best. And they instinctively understand that people will automatically resist their efforts to plan, organize and control society -- so as to achieve their socialist utopia.

We resist because we automatically recognize the socialist's plan is an infringement on our liberty -- we won't go along willingly.

Thus, it is necessary for socialists to have the power to compel us to go along unwillingly.

Socialism and tyranny go hand in hand. It is the very nature o things.

You are correct to use the word tyranny.

It is the nature of socialism to devolve into tyranny -- if it doesn't start that way.

How many times has socialism simply been the excuse for a brutal dictatorship? Do Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro...Vladimir Lenin ring a bell? The supporting philosophy, after all, refers to the first "post-revolutionary" stage as "the dictatorship of the proletariat". But, somehow, the state never "withers away".

The simple fact of the matter is that people don't want to behave the way socialists demand they behave. Therefore, "for their own good", it is necessary for the state -- and its enabling officials -- to employ coercion to achieve the outcome they desire.

My little sis, a social worker, claims she is a socialist (she isn't, not really). But she instinctively considers herself the arbiter of what is right and wrong in other people's behavior -- she willingly runs the lives of others (her clients). And would love to punish "the rich". Just because...

Like I said, a socialist is a natural totalitarian.
