Another woman jumps into race for president (This is for the guys)
WND ^ | 11/4/11 | Joe Kovacs

Posted on 11/05/2011 8:08:28 AM PDT by Baynative

Laurie Roth from Washington state is running not as a Republican, but as a self-described patriot and conservative on the American Independent Party ticket. She says she's already on the ballot in California, and will take steps to make sure her name is listed in the other 49 states.

Another pledge by Roth is to become totally energy independent in four years.

"America will be the largest exporter of energy in the world," says Roth. "Disconnect from OPEC. Employ 20 million people in energy infrastructure jobs [including] natural gas, oil, nuclear, solar and alternative fuels."

OK.

This poster approves of the Gadsden logo, a lot. :)

I have come to despise this party. Not that it doesn't stand for some good things that I agree with. What frustrates me about it is that it perpetually runs a slate of 3rd party candidates in Nevada that siphons votes off of viable conservative Republican candidates. They rarely win any races at all (maybe never), but they are always there to smugly attack any Republican who runs. Their efforts inevitably help the Democrat candidates. Case in point, Nevada almost got rid of Harry Reid a couple election cycles back. He won reelection by less than 600 votes.

So, let 'em have their fun - if we're going to go down, at least, let's go down fighting, singing, and having fun.

In other words, let the juvenile boys be juvenile boys.

TRUE Tax...taxing stock and bond trades...It seems to be a great idea to me. The problem is the details are in a book I will not buy.

Interesting math here. Isn't the total gross domestic product $14.6 billion? How do you tax even $10 trillion out of that?

The 2010 GDP was $14.58 trillion. However, she indicates a desire for a 2% transaction tax on retail sales. Total retail sales in the US for 2010 were roughly $4.35 trillion. A 2% tax would only generate $87.1 billion on those retail sales.

Economics are, obviously, not this woman's strong subject - Hell, basic math either for that matter.

I’m not questioning the form of tax, I am questioning her revenue estimates. $10-20 trillion a year? Having a tax rate near or above the current GDP doesn’t make sense.

I’d rather look at a Ben Franklin-looking TRUE conservative than some “sexy” woman described as both a singer-songwriter and political activist.

Oh come on, not even a quick peek?

I have come to despise this party.

It's a different party. The "IAP," or "Independent American Party" in Nevada is a Constitution Party affiliate. The American Independent Party is only in California and as far as I know currently has no national affiliation.

Hey! No dissing singer/songwriters and political activists, please! We are fully capable of being intelligent patriots, too.
[Just teasing, kind of... I get your point, though - looks don’t matter, character and substance do.] :)

Great, another talk radio host thinking they can run the country.

No snark interned but all we have had for the last 50 years of my life are politician who think they can run the Country.

I don't need to point out the result of that.....

Like I said, that was a post for the guys who would likely find interest in an educated woman who loves NASCAR and hamburgers. I doubt she will make a dent in the vote count.

Our job is to get out there and find new voters, disinterested people who don't vote and those who are disillusioned with Obama. If we spend our time sniping on websites where we are preaching to the choir and sending email jokes to our friends, we are doing nothing.

In the last election I converted a long time blue collar democrat to voting conservative and in turn she converted her two daughters. If every FR user made the flip of three voters (which is a 6 vote swing), Obama would not be in the White House.

We can make a difference if we decide to make a difference.

It would tax all forms of gambling...called stock and bond trading. How many world wide are doing it? I think it is based upon the numbers traded yearly. 1% of yearly trade is $10 Trillion, that is the theory.

re: It’s a different party.

I stand corrected. Regardless, both parties sound pretty much the same to me. The effect of both would be the same and my criticism and concerns would stand for the American Independent Party as well.

Stop with the Chicken Little kvetch. Cain will be the next President of the United States.

I don’t believe Onada will be on the ballot—at least not in all states—because he will not be able to prove he’s even eligible to be pres.

Logical replacement will be Biden. Cain will chew Plugs to pieces.

The birth showdown is coming.

Yo, yoyo—Why are talk show hosts automatically unfit to run for president? I’m sure you’re aware Truman was a failed haberdasher. He was a democrat back in the day when country came first and, IMHO, one of our best presidents.

According to you, who is qualified to run for president?

Listen to these freepers. All talks and no actions. Jump to conclusions about some one, male or female, famous or unknown...
Ms. Roth is a woman and right away innuendo of sex...,
She is a well-rounded, smart person and jealousy explodes all over the board in form of ridicules, mockery.
You who are so smart and good at talking, why aren’t you brave enough to run against soetoro/obama? Why do you attack some one who does? Because you want 4 more years of soetoro/obama?
It is precisely because of you incessant talkers who attack people with the courage to act that we don’t have a leader against the soetoror/obama tyrrany!
Have you checked her out on her qualification? No, don’t think so.
Have you ever considered a candidate who dares to challenge obama eligibility will bring the issue to the forefront and force the lamestream and congress to address this issue?
No candidate can do it if all you people can do is sneer and attack he/she who has the courage to do so. We have enough sneers and attacks from obama and gang. Why attack your own?
