A major utilities company in Alabama is now prohibiting illegal immigrants from receiving electricity, gas, water or wastewater services to heated reactions on both sides, but they're just following the law.

The Decatur Utilities company is now one of many in the state that follows the newly signed immigration law which prohibits business with illegal immigrants in the state or its subdivisions.

'We did not [originally] document or confirm whether or not they were citizens or aliens here legally,' Stephen Pirkle, Decatur business manager and chief financial officer told the Decatur 'Because of the new law, we are now going through the process to confirm that they are either a citizen or an alien here legally. If not, we will deny them service,' he added.

Section 30 of the Beason-Hammon Alabama Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act, signed into law on June 9th of this year, will make it a felony offense, encouraging businesses like Decatur Utilities, with over 30,000 customers, to check customer's citizenship before service.

The Daily mail has another story about Mexico-Mexican police discovered more than they bargained for when they carried out out a surprise search at a prison in Acapulco.

The spot-check revealed two peacocks, 100 fighting cocks, 19 prostitutes and a whopping two sackfuls of cannabis.

Prisoners had also managed to smuggle in 100 televisions, several bottles of alcohol and knives.Guerrero state spokesman Arturo Martinez said federal and state police searched the prison before dawn yesterday.

He did not give a reason for how the women, animals and drugs got into the institution - but described the peacocks as 'pets'. Cock fighting is a popular pastime in parts of Mexico.

The resort city has been plagued by crime since last year when gangs began fighting for power after the arrest of Edgar Valdez Villarreal, also known as 'La Barbie'.

The operation was called 'Guerrero Seguro'. In July, prisoners in a jail in Mexico's Sonora state were caught running a lottery to raffle off a luxury cell they'd equipped with a fridge, DVD player and air conditioning.

This sounds like something you would expect to see at the movies. How does anybody smuggle in peacocks, 100 TV'S without being noticed ? They sure be living it up in mexico prisons and apparently having some wild parties.

I fail to see the problem and wish my state would follow suit.

Good!

We could use a few hundred Beltway politicians to to go along with this way of handling criminals.

The utility companies better watch out. There have been reports where various segments of Mexicans have NO RESPECT for America and will retaliate ten-fold the damage when treated badly.

Imagine sneaking into Russia, squatting in an empty house and then demanding Russian Telecom and Russian Energy give you service?

You would get a scenic trip to Siberia.

How do you hide a Peacock? You can hear them call about half a mile away! It sounds like a woman’s frantic scream.

Low 29 Thursday night. But with 50 to a house they may be able to generate enough heat to survive (for a while)...

Good! Why aren't we doing the same in the other 49 states?

Good deal, Now that we have whittled down the class of those above the law to just Politicians, we are half way to getting our cities back in order...

Imagine the advantage to you if you could live without paying taxes, fees, getting permits or any of the other myriad ways our goobermint bleeds us! Free fire service, school service, medical, police, roads etc. No fees to work, Social Security, Drivers licenses, insurance, or licensing fees. Your work is crap and the stairs fall down? No tort case, your illegal and can't be sued! And if you get caught in a crime, No Habla English for a free trip home for a fresh identity.

Why, with a little work, you could be a millionaire! America truly is a land of opportunity, if your not an American that is.

95 year old lady gets a message to prove her citizenship or she will be cut off.

She fails to respond. Utility cuts her off.

95 year old lady dies.

If the utility is going to do this, then they need to make absolutely sure that they don’t cut anyone off unless they are right.

I also don’t see why it’s the utility’s job to care about citizenship. Why are utility’s enforcing citizenship requirements.

How about we make it so that citizens aren’t burdened with all this ****?

Why should a citizen, and a free man pay a fee to work?

Agreed that they better be real careful.
