Flashback: Kerry and Gingrich Hugging Trees -- and (Almost) Each Other
The Washington Post ^ | April 11, 2007 | Staff

Yesterday's global-warming debate between John Kerry and Newt Gingrich was, as the moderator put it, "advertised as a smack-down and a prizefight." But those labels were too modest for Kerry.

"Welcome to our environmental version of the Lincoln-Douglas debates," the former Democratic presidential nominee told the crowd in the Russell Caucus Room. "We flipped a coin, and I picked Lincoln."

But something funny happened on the way to 1858. Gingrich, a former Republican House speaker, refused to play Douglas to Kerry's Lincoln, instead positioning himself as a tree-hugging green.

Before Kerry got a word in, Gingrich conceded that global warming is real, that humans have contributed to it and that "we should address it very actively." Gingrich held up Kerry's new book, "This Moment on Earth," and called it "a very interesting read." He then added a personal note about saving vulnerable species from climate change. "My name, Newt, actually comes from the Danish Knut, and there's been a major crisis in Germany over a polar bear named Knut," he confided.

...

Kerry didn't know quite what to do with his agreeable opponent. "I'm a little confused about sort of where Newt comes from on this," he said at first. Later, Kerry tried to switch places with Gingrich, branding him a big-government liberal. "You know, this is a huge transition," he exclaimed. "You actually want the government to do it. I want the private sector to do it."

By the end of the debate, Lincoln/Kerry was embracing Douglas/Gingrich as a global-warming ally, saying things such as "What we need to do is what Newt just said."

"I'll lay odds if Newt Gingrich and I were responsible for making this happen, we could get in a room and in a week, we'd come up with a program and make it happen,"

Amen!

Plus, Newt has demonstrated that he will get in the face of the press. I like that. If the press throws baggage at him, Newt is gonna respond in kind with baggage on the press and the Marxist in the WH.

“How much will that “gnaw at you” knowing that you helped re-elect Obama?”

Well put.

Okay, but am I incorrect in saying this:

Not voting in the presidential election because you are dissatisfied with the Republican nominee WILL be a benefit to Obama’s re-election?

Do you believe this is an acurate statement?

Not voting for someone that’s unfit will benefit my soul. Have I said this in a way that you can understand now?

Look at history, read the bible and you will see that committing even a small bad act for the greater good has NEVER worked and has actually often lead to even worse outcomes.

Bad is bad, evil is evil, in truth there are no lesser of evils it just that some are like mountains you can pretty much see it all and some are like icebergs you can only see just a very small part of them.

That is simply not true. Name me one RINO who even attempted to fix America? I concede, RINOs are Marxist lites, but they still support Marxist policies. We don’t have to settle for another RINO. We have a choice—even if it’s only to write in our conservative candidate’s name.

Oh, you say, then Onada or his surrogate wins the election. That may be. But I think some demrat and indie voters will switch to the Pubbie RINO. Result: Demrat wins by something less than 40%. That’s not a mandate of any kind. Assuming conservatives pick up more house seats, and at least maintain their numbers in the Senate, the Marxist juggernaut will have been stopped.

That is the goal, isn’t it?

We can come up with different outcomes and “what ifs” to what party will control the houses of Congress all day long. Or all kinds of reasons to justify and rationalize any action we WANT to take or Not take. We all must be careful starting down this road, it’s destination is self deceit.

But one fact remains and is constant:

President Barack Obama’s intent is to deliberately bankrupt America and destroy the private sector free market capitalist economy.

He needs a 2nd term to accomplish this tremeandously evil goal.

What will assist him in achieving this 2nd term through re-election is the Republican voters NOT voting because they do not “like” the Republican nominee.

If you choose not to vote, or just as bad “write in” someone else or split the Republican vote by supporting a third party candidate you WILL be enhancing the possible re-election of Obama and the continued destruction of this nation.

People of faith have had worse insults hurdle at them.

Now can I ask a question?

What part of this passage do you not understand?

“For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?”
Mark 8:36

How do you gain when you vote for someone who is only odious in ways you can accept?

It’s no insult.

Choose to stay home, do not vote and help re-elect Obama who is deliberately attempting to ruin this nation.

If that’s your choice to forsake your nation because you do not “like” the Republican nominee, then do it.

Where is the insult in that?
