The New Welfare Swindle
The American Spectator ^ | 11-17-11 | Christopher Orlet

Ever since I moved to the inner city one thing has puzzled me more than any other, and that is how my low-income neighbors get by. Assuming they aren't doing anything illegal, how do they afford their homes, their meals, their gadgets, their cars?

Few seem to work, even part time, for they are home in the morning when I leave for work, home if I stop by for lunch, and home when I return in the evening. They can't work the graveyard shift, for they keep me up half the night with their raucous music. I am left to conclude that they seldom, if ever work. Therefore, their funds must come from elsewhere. And none of them strike me as a trust fund baby.

The best I can figure is they make do with a patchwork of welfare programs. Besides, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), which expires after five years, there is housing assistance, WIC (Women, Infants and Children) and Medicaid.

Their churches (not all churches) tell them how to game the system.

I think the schools also get more money if the kids are labeled “disabled,” don’t they?

Of course, it is a win for the entire teat-sucker class (student, parents, teachers, social workers, politicians) and the local drug dealers.

And if you actually do get out and work, they reduce the “benefits”. So there’s no incentive at all for any of the teat-suckers to actually get out and make anything of themselves.

Just one scam after another. I’ve got people like this in my family and it makes me want to puke. Trying to rationalize with them is a giant waste of time...they’ve been taught somewhere along the line that they’re entitled to this, and nothings going to change their minds.

Why work, when it all can get handed to you. Generation after generation of people being raised this way. It’s sick.

When things finally fall apart and society collapses, they’ll be the most dangerous ones. The Katrina riots were nothing...lol

"She only looked at cash income, I included rent subsidies, food stamps, free meals in school for her kids, free medical care etc. Her kids even made out tremendously at Christmas with free clothes and toys from a number of different charities."

Ok...this is what gets me...these people receive food stamps...their children receive free breakfast and lunch in school...and some are now wanting supper too...if that's the case, what in the hell do they need food stamps for??...must be too damn lazy to get out of bed in the morning to make sure their kids eat breakfast and to pack them a lunch (with food bought using food stamps)...

In the 90’s I worked on a bunch of schools in NYC. These were brand new. Each school had a separate wing about one third of the school devoted to “special needs”. The parents would instruct their kids to act up at school so they could get Social Security money in addition to welfare, food stamps, housing assistance and the rest. There is no requirement that your kid gets treatment, just extra money. The street name for this rip-off is “crazy money”.

Section 8 housing, free heating oil,Food debit cards, crazy checks, live in boyfriend, four welfare kids, state aid, town aid, church aid, plus living close enough to another State so she can get on their Aid program [dropped her latest bastard in an out of state hospital even though their were two Hospitals within twenty minutes of her home] Guess why! This was a tenant living in my Brothers house a couple of years back. I got a real awakening about the welfare system after dealing with that Ho. From now on charity stays at home!

I asked: “So why don’t you go down and apply?” Their answer: “We’d sooner drive our car into a canal than suffer the shame of asking for a handout.” I know they’re serious.

My answer to them: You were productive citizens all of your life, and had bad circumstances forced upon you. You earned the help available to you. Please take it!

I worked at a job that had a partnership with the local aid office..

so at Christmas time we all got to donate blankets, care goods and toys....

My "so called poor" family had:

Almost new SUV parked outside, big screen TV's, several computers, cartons of cigarettes on the kitchen table and a couple of chinchilla dogs running around with the 4 children.

I guess I was in the wrong occupation.

I do have an idea how much. There is no Wal Mart in my county, population 8600. I have Direct TV and Hughs Net at the house.

We’re so far out in the woods they pipe in daylight...

In Texas you can only buy food with your EBT card.

I guess you haven’t figured out the scam yet.

Let me give you a clue:

Go into the store. Buy all of the Rib-eye steaks, T-bones and premium ground beef on your Lone Star Card. Go out into the parking lot (or when you get home) and hand the meat out to your “customers” who will pay you cash at 50% of what you charged on your card. Of course, save some of the meat for yourself.

Next, be sure the other people in your household (or hive) have done so with other things such as veggies, pampers and such and then live the good life. Remember, it takes a village to raise a bastard child.

Figure this out yet?

I live in the “Bronx”. One day I had to walk for a while near my job in bad neighborhood shopping disrict. I saw signs on Furniture store windows, Dollar store windows, Clothing stores that accept eBT cards. I was shocked, until my nephew told me they register by stating they sell food.
Just damn.... And my aunt is on disability and they cut her foodstamps down to 16.00 a month. Go figure.

“I asked: “So why don’t you go down and apply?” Their answer: “We’d sooner drive our car into a canal than suffer the shame of asking for a handout.””

That’s my mom. She is 70 and takes care of my sister who has a large number of health problems. They live off my moms SS plus what she makes grooming dogs and other odd jobs. They live on about $1000 a month total. I supplement for them by about $500 a month to pay the utility bills and and help make a dent in the house taxes. She is never happy about seeing the extra money in her account every month. She says that I should be keeping my money. She will not take food stamps and my sister even qualifies for SSI but mom wont take it. This year I have to replace the roof on her house. Its leaking so its going to be a lean Christmas, but I don’t care at all.

Well, thank you so much for that courteous reply. It’s a shame that the internet give people who would not normally be so rude in person to do so online.

I am sue this happens but not being a POS scum bag I did not know that. Not sure how you know it.

Not sure what anyone would do this anyway since they can buy the meat with their own EBT card and a person who has no EBT card would hesitate to buy from some scummy person who would sell it.

We raise our own meat.

I’ll give you a clue. I sit in my truck waiting for my son to come out of the the grocery store and actually watch it happen. You have to remember, I live in the real world.

Furthermore, you can’t understand why they would do it? It’s a way they get CASH to buy drugs and goodies.

You and I are being robbed in broad daylight and are helpless to do anything about it at all! Why? Nothing more than vote buying through political correctness.

Food stamps could be traded for dope. Now that a debt card is used instead of stamps steaks are used.
At my local grocery store I see the “Cardinal Card” being used for cases of bottled water, steaks, junk food and other items I can’t afford
