Rep. Dale Kildee, Michigan Democrat, will be responding to accusations on Monday that he sexually abused his second cousin decades ago. I spoke to Kildee on his way to the airport on Sunday and he denied the charges. The Washington Times affiliated radio program America's Morning News also discussed the charges with the 17 term Congressman who is retiring this year and who previously headed up the now defunct House Page program.

This was right before he was first elected to Congress, which was in 1976. Kildee was 46 or 47 at the time, had been married for over 10 years, and I assume already had the 3 children he had with his wife. If he was running for Congress and clamed he needed a place to stay closer to his campaign HQ or something, it’s not so strange that his cousin and his wife would let him stay in their son’s room in the basement. Whywould they suspect anything?
Which is exactly what makes Kildee a monster if this story is actually true.
Kildee voted consistently pro-life pretty much until Obamacare. But voting pro-life was pretty much Kildee’s only conservative issue position.
In 2002, Kildee was placed in the same district with Democat Congressman Jim Barcia of Bay City, who was far more conservative than Kildee. Barcia ran for the state senate instead, in deference to the much more senior Kildee (who would have been very hard to beat in the primary, and appeared likely to retire within a few years anyhow). Had this story come out 10 years ago (and assuming it’s true) Barcia would still be in Congress, hopefully continuing to vote with the GOP in many key votes. Barcia has expressed interest in running for Congress in 2012 in Kildee’s Dem-leaning MI-05, and if the longshot GOP candidate (a party switcher from Flint) can’t win, I hope that Barcia wins.
If Pitt is like most major universities it’s no different than PSU. It is run by leftists who take every opportunity to propaganidize its students. Which means, by extension, it is immoral as Penn State. Just hasn’t got caught yet.
If Pitt is otherwise I applaud you and your school.
Of course, Barcia might move hard-left anyway if he returns to Congress. Potentially reminds me of my current member, Jim Cooper. When he was a Congressman from the rural 4th, he voted semi-sane. 8 years out of Congress and moves to Nashville and he becomes (until the cretin moonbat from Memphis, Steve Cohen, is elected) the most liberal member from TN.
BTW, we have yet to draw the lines, so not even prominent members of the legislature have any idea what’s going to happen next year (that includes the plan to divide Nashville three-ways). The GOP may wait until the last moment to spring the plans to catch the Dems by surprise (whom are in a very weak state right now). Probably have to credit Zero for giving us a two-year head start for a lasting GOP majority in TN.
Decades old accusations have become acceptable in the arena of politics. The 24/7 media jumps on them as if all accusations are equal.
A casualty of journalistic ethics has gone by the wayside with the fierce competition between news outlets and the blatant partisanship of same.
It’s impossible to say who is telling the truth after decades. So someone with an axe to grind against a prominent person needs to merely come forth with an attention getting accusation and the accused is ruined.
Although I’m always glad to see a Democrat resign, esp. in a swing district, at some point this becomes ridiculous.
The more common it becomes, the less seriously it will be taken to the point where even if it is truthful, people will just nod off in boredom.
Cooper was never as conservative as the pro-life, pro-gun Barcia, and Barcia is staying in Bay City (not moving to a different district in Ann Arbor or something) and has continued to vote the same way in the MI state senate over the past decade, so I think that Jim Barcia is still the same Jim Barcia.
If he could even win a Dem primary that demands ultraleft allegiance.
Barcia would have won in 2002 had Kildee retired. After that, perhaps you’re right and he may have been defeated by a peacenik ultraliberal in 2006 or 2008, but Flint, Saginaw and Bay City ain’t Lansing, East Lansing and Ann Arbor.
