South Carolina man's attempt to fake his own kidnapping Thursday went awry, starting when his mother negotiated down his ransom to $60 from $100.
Christopher Hutto, 30, of Elgin was charged with extortion for orchestrating the "kidnapping" and then trying to get money from his mother, said Sheriff Jim Matthews.
Hutto had tried to get his mother to pay $100 to find out where the supposed kidnapper had dumped his allegedly badly beaten body, Matthews said. But his mother got the alleged kidnapper to drop the price by $40 after she said she couldn't afford to pay that much for the information.

It must suck to know you’re not even worth a $100 bucks to YOUR OWN MOTHER.
The Ransom of Red Chief
This economy has certainly taken it’s toll. 5 years ago, that beloved son woulda been worth $500 easy.
The Mom was heard to say; “Well, if he wasn’t such a dumb son of a bitch, I’d have paid the $100.00.”
Maybe not legal, but nobody will care.
Ransom of red chief
Rodney Dangerfield: “Once when I was a kid, I was kidnapped. The kidnappers sent my parents a ransom note and a piece of my finger. My parents said they wanted more proof!”
Why do roads go both ways?
“I’ve been kidnapped by K-Mart.”
Two things a mother should never call their own child:
2. son of a bitch
Then again, if the shoe fits...
She was probably thinking of the money she could make by renting out his basement room.
His Mother must shop the Blue Light Specials at K-Mart.
This isn’t funny.
I went through the same thing once.
Kidnapped my brother, put him in the dry bathtub. I only asked for two bags of Doritos.
I got a lousy half-bowl. ‘70’s were a rough decade for me.
This makes me appreciate my sons. And gave me a good laugh.
“I’ve been marked down!”
What you in here for, man?
