Uh...the poll, which is the subject of this thread, resulted from an article questioning the effect of Newt’s plan, presented last night.

That’s why I click on links, to learn the basis for the question.

I can support something like you posted. No citizenship ever, but maybe something for the kids that had no say in coming here. Funny thing, it sounds a little like the plan the Democrat CongressCritter from Boulder Colorado proposed. I tried to get more information from his office, but they would not even talk to me. Probably what happened was the “leaders” in the Democrat part told him to sit down and shut up.
Kind of like my parents told me as a kid.

No its a slap in the face to the REAL immigrants who did it the right way...

Should we forgive bank robbers and just let them keep the money since they only robbed a bank 25 years ago of $1 Million and havent had to since ???

We already have a pathway to citizenship. It doesn’t involve sneaking across borders.

If you hire them they will come. Gingrich tells Americans to take a bath and look for a job. Companies make money on cheap labor wherever they find it. Up yours Newt.

If they’ve broken the law, which they have, and have likely committed a FELONY by fraudulent use of a SS#, they should be barred from further entry to this country. I thought that’s what we did to non-citizen criminals?

THAT says a LOT.

It is irrational, inhumane and impossible to deport all those people who we have allowed to sneak in here years ago and have been good citizens or residents since then.

We should target RECENT arrivals, the COMPANIES who HIRE them (all those damn landscapers among MANY) and the BORDER.

ALSO go after the ASSETS of those nations like Mexico, who refuse to STOP the flow of their citizens into America and recoup our expenses for dealing with them from those assets.

I can hear the protests right now:

There are far too many to deport to make this a feasible option.
(So deporting NONE is the alternative?)

Many children of illegal immigrants have only known the U.S. as their home all of their lives. It would be cruel to banish them into a strange, third-world environment.
(So we're the villains rather than the law-breaking parents. We get it.)

And the most ridiculous argument:
They only came here to work hard and contribute to jobs that Americans won't do.
Uh, they won't do them because they aren't AVAILABLE to Americans to do - haven't been for decades. Ever hear of the high unemployment rate we have right now?

Illegal immigrants are ((Not)) immigrants they are insurgents..

ALL insurgents should be deported.. or better.. Encouraged to Self-Deport...

With a WALL from San Diego to Brownsville they would worried about not being able to visit HOME..

A simple local housing law that all real estate and property managers must prove citizenship (to rent or sell) would start a stampede south.. and many of the chinese and indian insurgents would go as well..

I say that, in case some one thinks all insurgents are mexicans.. or latin americans..

Apply federal law on being in the US illegally. Better yet use the Mexican law. They’re always challenging US law so to shut them up use theirs. The US is the only country that harbors it’s illegals and allows them all the rights. No other country does that. If you’re in their country illegally after you’re released from jail or a compound you’re deported. No rights, no job, no welfare, nothing. You do that here and the illegals will leave voluntarily.

As a legal immigrant myself, absolutely not. I did not immigrate to this magnificent country to put up with law breakers given amnesty. No amnesty to rapists, bank robbers, white collar crime and illegal immigrants, not now, not ever!

The statute of limitations should not apply to illegals, same as murderers.

First and foremost, breaking into the United States of America should be a “felony crime” and not a civil infraction. This will put teeth behind the threat of enforcement of illegal immigration.

Next, build a primary fence the entire length of the US/Mexican border with secondary fences on both sides where border patrol and armed military personnel can continue to be actively engaged in patrolling and securing the border.

Third, through a process of attrition, the illegals who are already in the United States be given notice by every available public domain that they have exactly 90 days to return to their country of origin and begin the process for legal immigration. After 90 days when you are discovered, you will be arrested, processed, and fined the amount of money the illegal has taken from the tax payer's of the United States for whatever time you have been in the United States, including the amount of tax dollars it took to arrest them and process them in a court of law. The bill will also be given to the country of origin for an outstanding debt and until it is paid in full, the illegal immigrant in question will not be allowed to file an application or receive permission from the United States of America to become a citizen.

Finally, no tax dollars may be given, or made available to anyone who has entered the United States of America illegally, including, but, not limited to school, colleges, welfare programs, hospitals (once treated are arrested and the illegal immigrant and country of origin is billed for the cost), drivers license or state id's etc.

Enforce with all law enforcement assets available both state of federal to prevent any further violations of our immigration laws!

Problem solved!

Criminal illegals should be put on a prison ship and sent south, harboring off the shore of Honduras, Guatamala, Nicaragua, etc. and hire the locals to be guards on the prison ship.

Cannot agree!

In order for our laws to have effect we have to take the hard line.

Get caught here illegally HAS to mean you not only get deported ASAP, it HAS to also mean you can NEVER come back, not even as a tourist or student.

The current consequences are too light, and usually even those are not enforced.

We read daily of illegals who have been deported several times, but keep returning.
Eventually they commit a serious enough crime to end up in prison, where they continue to drain our economy for their care.

The families of illegals have a choice, wave goodbye to illegal, or accompany them when they are deported.

Yes, it IS that simple.

I recommend NOT “falling in love” with illegals.

I still say we need to immediately initiate a simple policy.

For every illegal found in the U.S. we subtract three LEGAL immigration slots from that country for the year.
Make sure the immigrants waiting their turn know that the line got longer thanks to the illegals jumping the line.
Maybe put in a reward system for reporting human smugglers, such as moving their application nearer to the top of the pile.

Let’s check the logic here.

I committed a crime (robbed a bank, stole a car, burglarized a home, ect), I’ve been on the run and have not been caught for ‘x’ years, nor have I made any restitution for the consequences of my actions.

- does my crime get forgiven?

Yep! Statute of Limitations

Do those things and illegal aliens will self-deport rather quickly and pay for the trip themselves.
