Comeback? Didn’t know he went anywhere. His two or three in the polls.

No kidding! How many candidates can sustain a perceived "scandal" and still be in the top 3?

The mainstream media is STILL trying to pick our candidate. Conservatives need to be rallying behind the conservative instead of following the media and establishment hacks like lemmings.

Cain is one of ours and they are trying to do to him what they did to Palin.

I actually did not hear or see his comment about leaving immigration to the states. I don’t know what he meant. Obviously it is up to the Feds to close the borders, but if the states are empowered to go after their local employers and fine those hiring illegals, they will need state ICE teams of some kind. Who will pay for it? It doesn’t sound feasible but I’d like to hear what Herman meant.

Any state choosing to keep illegals will dwindle. Ask me how I know this.

I think perry is a fine guy, and might even make a good president. However, his deer in the headlights style of debating will be chewed up by Obama. He won’t be able to win. Sad, but you must be coherent and fluent on tv. Perry makes bush look articulate.

That's my exact point..Cain didn't think...he often reflexively just drops an unfinished idea into the mix...

and of course, any state that became lax in deporting illegals would soon find itself inundated with them..

Thank you justsaynomore for keeping up the good fight to help get Mr. Cain into the White House. If more FReepers took the time to read/listen to Cain’s speeches and interviews in context, they would realize that he is very well versed on the important issues, and he is a true conservative. It is good that you and other FReepers are helping to correct the Cain misconceptions out there; it can only help in the long run.

Cain is NOT Reagan!

Reagan had 20 years of well documented views on domestic and foreign policy.

Cain’s Iran response, Libya response, “Right of Return” response, all show a considerable lack of depth and understanding.

It has NOTHING to do with my ability to understand Cain!

“How to reverse the communist take over of the USA from within?”

Uh...that would require beating the GOP field and then Obama.

Cain is NOT the answer to that question!

Why not?

Who is?

Why wouldn’t sending an honest, decent, ahcieved man to washington be any different than pouring pure bleach into a toilet that hasn’t been cleaned in 50 years?

“Why not?”

uh...
poll standings?
money?
news coverage?
debate performances?

Hint: “All of the above”

His focus has been in business, and that is where he excels at the moment. But his history proves his versatility and capability. I trust that when put in a political arena he will shine there as well.

But for now, he will need to depend on capable help. I’m OK with that. I’d rather have a conservative who is willing to learn than someone with experience I don’t trust.

Cain is a bright, successful businessman. That doesn’t confer Presidential breadth on the man.

Bright successful businessmen were precisely who the founding fathers thought would be best suited to give back to the country by holding public office. Serving in public office was never intended to be a permanent job for career politicians.

I understand your confusion. It's because the word “profiling” has historically negative connotations because it has been used way too broadly, such as by police in the case of applying the “Driving While Black” rule to pulling over black people in white neighborhoods. The common use of the word “profiling” is not an accurate term because so often it is a broad-brush approach (i.e., all Muslims are terrorists).

What Cain means when he says “targeted identification” is they are, in fact, creating a “profile” for terrorists of the multiple and specific characteristics that narrow the focus from (for example) ALL Muslims, to those few radical Muslims who not only hate us, but who may actually have the means, the equipment, the money, the training, the motivation, and the opportunity to act upon that hate.

As someone else pointed out, El Al has been using it successfully for years. You don't need to harass every Muslim who gets on a plane, but you can use other factors to narrow down your search and your watch to those who are most likely to want to do us harm. This can include white-bread Americans (Lilly Whites) as well, if they fit enough of the characteristics.

So when Cain says he doesn't mean “profiling,” he's trying to be very specific so that he isn't misunderstood by the general public.

“Profiling” could be considered discrimination, if, for example, you broadly sweep all blacks as criminals, or all Muslims as terrorists. But creating a very specific profile, based on multiple factors that are generally behavior-based, is “target identification” in its specificity.

The FBI may have a better way to describe/define a difference between “profiling” and “target identification”, but for the purposes of what Cain means, he is merely trying to differentiate between what has been used in the past (profiling all blacks as criminals, etc.) which was a broad sweep vs. what actually WORKS, which is the identification of specific characteristics (behaviors, beliefs, personal associations, etc.) that are consistent or at least highly probable in terrorists.

I doubt I've explained it very well, but I didn't see many replies to your question, so I thought I'd take a stab at it.
