In a phone call with supporters just a few momrnts ago, Connie Mack announced WILL run for the Bill Nelson seat from Florida.
It's official
I love FR vettingseries.
I read about that 1948 election a long time ago. As I recall initially LBJ lost by 113 votes but then 200 votes for LBJ suddenly were found in one precinct. The voters had voted in alphabetical order. Unfortunately the maid accidentally threw away the evidence (or so it was reported) so it was impossible to investigate. LBJ became known as Landslide Lyndon.
Married to Mary Bono! That would sink it for me. He’s not going to diss his liberal wife when it comes to Senate votes. Certainly sounds as though he’d be another RINO of the Scott Brown, Olympia Snowe variety.
Bless your heart.
Nelson has worked to build a political machine independent of the democrats. Never underestimate him. He fights dirty.
“...Bye bye Dem Senate...” and
“...Meaningless if the progressive Republicans who vote with the Dems are counted as part of a Republican majority...”
Precisely. It IS meaningless if we replace one liberal POS with another liberal POS just because “it” has an “R” attached.
A Senate with John McCain, Lindsay Graham, Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, and other RINOs in a position to f*** us over at will is NOT a “Republican Senate”.
It’s WORSE than a Democrat-controlled Senate. These RINOs are the ones who bend over backwards to help the Dems wreck the country.
I know nothing about this Mack fellow, but I’m not confident of his conservative credentials from what I’m hearing out here.
We need to remove the RINOvirus from the GOP, one candidate at a time, or by bunches as we did in 2010; this is an imperative if we are EVER to start to undue the damage these socialist b*stards did to us.
A liberal is a liberal, no matter WHAT alphabet is in parentheses after it’s name.
They are the enemy, plain and simple.
A Scotsman and a Dutchman both spotted and picked up a penny at the same time. Neither would let go.
RINOvirus, I like that.
I would like for Allen West to clarify his position—a 2010 blog post from a defunct website in which he refers to Roe v. Wade being a 1972 (!) SCOTUS case is a pretty lousy place for West to explain his position on abortion.
I believe that abortion should only be allowed if it is an unintended consequence of saving the mother’s life, but recognize that most pro-life politicians would make exceptions in cases of rape, incest or serious risk to the mother’s health (that was pretty much George W. Bush’s position, and he did more to combat abortion than any president in our history). I wouldn’t oppose a Senate candidate from FL just because they aren’t more pro-life than George W. Bush.
You don’t trust the NRTL’s voting ratings? Well, the National Committee for a Human Life Amendment also gives West a perfect voting record so far: http://nchla.org/keyresults.asp?state=&locale=checkcongper&congper=West&zip=&plusfour=&year=2011&year2=X&issue=&terms=-1&bills=-1&vote=&displaysize=10&displaystarts=1&displaystarth=1&submit=Search+Key+Votes
I guess none of them counted a vote for ObamaCare/Planned Parenthood school “clinics” counts against ‘em, eh?
I guess not.
West voted against the partial defunding of Obamacare after having voted months before to repeal Obamacare in its entirety, and he said at the time that he considered a piecemeal approach to repealing Obamacare to be a waste of time. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2716954/posts You can disagree with his reasoning, but I don’t think you can say that his vote shows that he favors public funding of abortion.
Remember when Congressman John Shadegg of AZ abstained from the vote on Stupak-Pitts because he thought that having Obamacare fund abortion would lead to Obacare’s defeat in the House? I thought that he was foolish to place all his eggs in one basket, but I didn’t think that he was secretly pro-abortion.
If Mr. Connie Mack IV is married to a Rep. from California and he plans on running for Senator in Florida where is the question of residency of each answered?
I would prefer McCalister as a proven man. Rather than a RINO who runs on name recognition and performance of a lackluster career of his father.
Time to rid ourselves of Career Politicians and Families that exist only in/for politics.
Let him run in California if he’s living with his wife there!
They are an infection after all.
Like venereal diseases...the gift that keeps on giving.
Connie Mack’s Penny Plan to balance the federal budget and solve our debt problem is worth considering.
See here:

But “Connie”.... gosh what a feminine name!!
Why couldn’t he just use his full maasculine name — CORNELIUS?
In the late 70's, the election judge in that precinct called a press conference after all other involved parties had passed away and admitted that he stuffed the ballot box for LBJ, on the orders of the Parr brothers (the political bosses of the county at the time).
A guy that interviewed LBJ after he retired claims that LBJ had a picture of himself, an unknown person, and George Parr hanging in his study. When the interviewer asked who was in the picture, LBJ reportedly "just smilled". The interviewer never learned who the third person was until he recognized him years later: it was the judge that rigged LBJ's election.
She could rename the Senate to the House of Lords and see to it that all the seats become hereditary.
Yes we do, and I know Mike McCalister will beat Nelson!
