President Obama’s uphill battle to re-election is getting steeper.
A report released today by the centrist think-tank Third Way showed that more than 825,000 voters in eight key battleground states have fled the Democratic Party since Obama won election in 2008.
“The numbers show that Democrats’ path to victory just got harder,” said Lanae Erickson, the report’s co-author. “We are seeing both an increase in independents and a decrease in Democrats and that means the coalition they have to assemble is going to rely even more on independents in 2012 than it did in 2008.”
Amid frustrating partisan gridlock and unprecedentedly low party-approval ratings, the number of voters registering under a major party is falling fast, but it is also falling disproportionately.
In eight states that will be must-wins in 2012 – Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina and Pennsylvania – Democrats lost 5.4 percent of their registered voters while Republicans lost 3.1 percent. The number of independent voters in those states jumped 3.4 percent.

As far as how you fix it? TEA Party but it has to be about more than just taxes.
Each day there is a new truly frightening charge about what Obama wants to do to transform our country into his desire to promote either Marxism, Islam or a combination of both.
I will be supporting the Republican nominee, no matter who it is. Our worst is still far better than Obama. This man scares me to death.

I will proudly vote for Romney if he is the nominee. I despise Obama, the man is truly frightening and I'll be eager to take my chances with whichever candidate Republicans choose.
You can either help elect Republicans or you can help elect Democrats. For me, it's a no brainer.
To illustrate how important it is for all Republicans to hang together, you do know, don't you that there were over 3,000 Minnesotans who voted "third party" against Coleman. They thought their "principles" were so superior, they'd not waste their vote on a RINO like Coleman.
Well, these 3000 Minnesotans could have kept that moron, Franken out of the senate and thus prevented Obamacare.
It is a matter of cutting off your nose to spite your face. Primaries are a gift. That is where we fight it out but we remain united to defeat ALL RATS!!!

More importantly, the Left has lost its enthusiasm.
While we know that the kooks and minorities that bother to show up will vote for him, I would bet my pinky-toe that the number that actually bother to roll out of bed and stand in line for him are going to be shockingly low.
At that point, Romney will be far more conservative than Obama. I will always choose the more conservative of the candidates.
There is NO excuse to do anything that paves the way for the reelection of Obama.

I think you’ll find both books interesting. In many cases, you can probably find both books at a local library.
The info in both books is obviously a little dated (he writes about events that happened in the 70’s and early 80’s) but he’s spot on about his belief that a conservative populist revolt should happen. Much of what he says is still applicable today.
The Tea Party is in many ways a manifestation of that populist revolt.
What I’ve always believed is that the GOP and conservatives should tear the mantle of populism away from the Democrats. They have no monopoly on populism.

I don’t know what that kind of ridiculous qualifier is. I’m not going to support someone who fundamentally disagrees with me on very many issues. There should and one day (I suspect) will be tens if not hundreds of names on presidential ballots. And that’s a good thing. We don’t need a handful of liberals like Rick Perry, and Jon Huntsman, et al. in any position of power.

Really? There’s so little different between the two. They all pat each other on the back and party at the end of the day, while they get rich and sell the populace down the river. If you think otherwise, you’ve got a lot of learning to do.
