ISU Lecturer To Students: Don’t Send Gifts To American Soldiers Overseas, They Don’t Deserve Them
Andrew Breitbart's Big Peace ^ | December 13, 2011 | Peter Schweizer

Posted on 12/13/2011 3:47:37 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

College Republicans at Iowa State University encouraged students to send gifts to American men and women in uniform serving overseas. Bad idea, says one faculty member. Do I really need to say anything about these absurd comments from Thomas Walker at Iowa State University, where he is a lecturer “in the intensive English and orientation program”?

I read in Tuesday’s Iowa State Daily that the College Republicans have begun collecting sundries for U.S. soldiers serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. Why? Doesn’t the U.S. Army victual its soldiers? Don’t their families send them yuletide goodies? Aren’t GIs paid enough to buy what they need, and even what they want?

He goes on:

Necessities should be doled out to people who really need them and who might get them if not for the hundreds of billions of dollars being funneled to the Pentagon in the greatest squandering of money on the planet.

And on:

Why do Republicans care so much about the military? Because the military-industrial complex is dear to their simplistic laissez-faire fantasies: a bottom-line patriotism that excludes the people at the bottom.

Since its the Christmas season and I’m generally and optimist, I will leave with this: at least he’s not teaching in the econ or poli sci department.

He just expressed the majority opinion of the faculty lounge. Guess he wasn't briefed on not letting the cat out of the bag until the revolution starts.

I don’t think I can afford to do a care package this year, but is there a place where I can donate some time?

I’m in the Austin area, and this moron is motivating me to do what I can to help out.

I really hate these "holier-than-thou" twits who have never spent a day in the service of their country but have worked their entire lives in the service of themselves!! Our men and women in uniform are protecting our freedoms so that idiots like this can be idiots and our great military folks do it for slightly more than they can earn pushing burgers at McDonalds!!

This is outrageous and it is the reason that leftists are not only destroying our educational system, they are destroying our once great nation!!!

(I would continue, but my language would, rightfully, get me banned!!)

Contact your local USO, or donate money to them.

The USO keeps offices in most major airports. They offer a place for military travelers to stow their luggage if they need to, a place to sit and watch TV or surf the internet. They also have an assortment of snacks and drinks. All military personnel need to do is show some ID and sign in on the guest list, and there is no charge for the services or snacks.

I believe they also provide services to military members deployed overseas.

I have benefitted from USO facilities while traveling. And when not traveling, I donate to them.

To America’s Armed Forces; Don’t protect this individual’s Life, Liberty, and Property. He doesn’t deserve it.

Hey Idiot!

You're paid to be there to teach a specific subject matter...not to deliver anti-American political propaganda.

Now, do we have his facebook page, home address and phone number?

Hmm, I have as well. I did when I was in Sheridan WY.

Thanks. If there are other suggestions, I would love to hear them. I am not from this area, so I don’t know much, but I would love to hear from anyone who is.

In this wonderful Christmas season, I pray that the Lord turns Thomas Walker's heart toward love of those who so valiantly protect him...at Iowa State University.

In Jesus name, amen.

Unfortunately they only have facilities in Kileen, and San Antonio.

That’s an hour drive for me one way to San Antonio.

I’ll think about that, but I think I can find something a bit closer.

Ditto on your faculty insight. I just wonder if they aren't sending jackasses like him out to try an inflame the revolution into starting, so that they can counterattack it. OWS smelled like that kind of op from the beginning.

I believe a God's grace is keeping America calm despite hellacious provocation from demonic forces.

Well said.

“Ok...all you freedom hating lefties...line up over here...all the rest, over here.”

I’d love that.

Every mouth this kind of stuff emanates from is a coward’s mouth.
