Out-Liar - PPP is just trying to stir stuff up. Probably an interesting set of demographics.

Your alternative to the candidate who signed Romneycare into law is a candidate who advocated an individual mandate for the entire country even up until May of 2011?

These guys are the best America has to offer to lead us? Obama, Newt, Scumney, Perry? Man, has the republic fallen.

Considering that “Perry, Santorum and Bachmann” have proven that they can’t possibly win, when do you think you might move on and get behind the guy who can actually win against Romney and likely take out Obama, instead of trying to tear him down?

What is more important to you, the survival of our country or standing your ground with candidates that simply will not win?

If I was still hung up on my favorite candidate, I would still be harping on about Palin.

You country needs you to to stop and think, objectively.

That’s a pretty decent assessment.

I’m committed to supporting what ever candidate emerges. I’m simply concerned with that old argument of one party taking us down fast and the other doing it slowly. Newt would get my vote. I want him to be a person I can trust. But...

“Newt would get my vote.”

Then quit the “but’” and get behind him now.

Perhaps this piece from the owner of this forum will help you.

If Newt survives the attacks by his own party and gets the nomination, he needs to basically run some ads and appearances saying:

Obama is going to tell you some things about me, some are true, some are not. I’m here right NOW to set the record straight.

He can list off all his “wrongdoings” and address them right away (he’s already doing that but not everyone is seeing it).

Then, he might drop in the polls at the beginning with nowhere to go but up. It’s far better than having to continually fend off new attacks each week.

"Newt is slowly fading. Perry and Bachman are slowly rising,"

Some of you are so delusional you see things that don't even exist! Newt has held pretty strong at around 30% outside of the propoganda polls like PPP. Reuters and AP polls taken on the 12th have Newt at 28 and 33 respectivly. On the 11th, WSJ had Newt at 40. There is no data except the bogus Huffpo PPP poll to suggest you are right.

"Perry, Santorum and Bachmann believe in smaller less powerful government. Newt and Mitt believe in more government."

Problems:

1) Perry can't remember which things should be small. Moreover, he can't string two nouns and verb together. I'm sorry, but we need an President who can articulate conservatism.

2) Bachmann comes across as the naggy ex-wife that none of us would ever want. And she attacks people on her own side. That won't work.

3) Santorum, while likeable, has no chance.

4) You are correct on Milt.

5) Ron Paul is about to snatched up by aliens at any moment.

6) Newt has fallen off the conservative wagon a time or two, but he's the best we have. And he has at least acknowledged his mistakes. I'll take that.

Perry, Santorum and Bachmann believe in smaller less powerful government.
Newt and Mitt believe in more government.
Newt believes FDR was the greatest president the country has known.

And Appeasement Paul believes in all out surrender.

with new Pew, NBC, GfK, and Reuters polls added ...

Weighted 4-Poll Rolling Averages of the latest
20+ Polls listed at RCP   [as of Dec 14th]
plus
YouGov polls 12/3, 11/26 11/19, 11/12, 11/5, 10/29, 10/22, 10/15, 10/08, &
Poll Position 12/11, 12/04, 11/27, 11/22, 11/8, 11/1 polls inserted chronologically
Also the 11/9 - 11/14 Pew poll was broken into two, (3-day) polls

(Example methodology for this chart will be on my profile page)

Much like what the government does with unemployment statistics, this chart represents a 4-poll "rolling average" for the latest 20+ polls listed at RealClearPolitics.com (plus other recent national polls).

I also weighted the polls by their size. For example, a poll with a survey size of 1000 was weighted proportionately heavier than an 324 survey size.

Perry, Santorum and Bachmann believe in smaller less powerful government.

I see you left Ron Paul off that list.

One of Newt's frequent talking points is being "with him" nor "for him" because he'll need help getting things done, he also says, "If we're going to apply the 10th amendment and shrink the federal government we need to grow citizenship back home."

Is that not smaller gov't less powerful federal gov't? Of course it is but it doesn't fit your strawman fantasy of Newt as a big government totalitarian progressive.

The proof is, how many candidates return to Iowa in the general election?

Up until now, Iowa sees plenty of the candidates before a general election because even though we have a small number of electoral votes, they're up for grabs.

Newt is slowly fading. Perry and Bachman are slowly rising, but not fast enough to get a conservative candidate with 3 weeks to go. Mitt and Paul are not moving and won’t.

Not really. Perry and Bachmann got a little bump from Cain leaving, but not as much as people believed they would.

Plus Gingrich appears to be hurting Romney, something Bachmann, Perry, and Cain were never able to do. That's the big surprise, and that has me interested, because we have to get past Romney first, then Obama, and I don't think Bachmann and Perry can do that. Newt's not close to my first choice, but he's better than Romney.
