Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich of Georgia is leading former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in the Republican presidential race by 20 points—41 percent to 21 percent--among self-professed conservatives, according to a new Gallup poll released Thursday.
By contrast, Romney is leading Gingrich by 10 points—27 percent to 17 percent—among self-professed liberals and moderates in the poll.
The poll, conducted Dec. 5-11, surveyed 1,665 Republicans and Republican-leaning independents who are registered voters. Among all poll respondents, Gingrich led Romney 33 percent to 23 percent, with Rep. Ron Paul of Texas at 9 percent, Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota at 6 percent, and Texas Gov. Rick Perry at 6 percent.
Gingrich led among most sub-groups in the poll—except for self-professed liberals and moderates, those 18 to 34 years of age, and those living in the East.

But FYI.... Earlier today, I watched Megyn Kelly announce a shakeup in the latest polls showing Newt tanking to 2nd and 3rd place with Romney at the top.
While seeing his numbers come down concerns me, I think what bothered me most was how Kelly began the “breaking news”. The first words out of her mouth were, “THANK GOD”.... she was excited and giddy.
I have so had it with Fox News....

Put the smartest guy out there (Newt) and let him destroy Obama. Eventually all those independents you’re all worried about will get it. They’ll see through all the negative ads. The debates will carry a lot of weight and anyone who thinks Obama beats Newt in a debate, you’re not going to convince anyway. Let Newt loose on Obama and destroy this Socialist slime once and for all. To me, anyone else and you’re taking a chance of losing to Obama. One mistake by Perry and he’ll come across as an idiot and he’s done. Ron Paul does not have a realistic view on Iran. Mitt is the smooth politician, but I don’t think he’ll be strong enough against Obama. The amount of wives Newt has, the healthcare mandate in 1993, and all the mindless criticism of Newt has NOTHING to do with solving today’s problems. Put the best guy out there and he will win. Have a little faith in Newt and the American people.
The wild variations in all of these polls are making me dizzy.
I think Hannity is in Newt’s corner. He just doesn’t want to say anything yet.
Let’s get real. Iowa (28) and New Hampshire (12) have a small amount of delegates. Newt has huge leads in SC (25) and FLA (50). Once we get through Florida, Newt will have the lead regardless of what happens in Iowa and NH. Newt is also leading big in California (172), Georgia (76), Pennsylvania (72), Ohio (66) and Virginia (50). Newt’s leading the states he needs to lead. The other big state Texas (155) will probably go to Perry - NOT Mitt. So the Republican elite can try to tell you who to vote for and Ron Paul can run negative ads in Iowa all day long, but in the end, it’s not going to matter.
I suspect so, but he is probably afraid he would lose his job if he said anything before the nomination.

I think Hannity, Levin and Rush are just like me and the rest of the 52% of GOP primary voters who would prefer Newt over Mitt head-to-head (see post #2 above: Newt 52%, Romney 39%):
- we want a conservative
- we want the primary voters to decide, not the big shots
- we did not have Newt as our top pick originally, but we do recall how happy we were when Newt led the GOp to take over the House and do welfare reform and impeach x42
- we are happy to support the conservative who actually rises to the top
- we think Newt is the most likely one to do that
- we are not sure it will be Newt
I am not a radio host so I feel free to give my endorsement, so to speak. I do understand that that these hosts would rather the voters decide without there being a kingmaker among the conservatives.
But I think if the 52% who don’t want Romney remain split, the hosts will weigh in and annoint one of the non-Romneys to try to prevent Romney from winning.
I would say Hannity and Rush are with Newt over Romney. Levin will be with Santorum or Bachmann until they’re done and then move over to Newt. They all don’t like the GOP elite trying to tell us how to vote. The only difference from your list was that I did have Newt as my top pick originally. All the baggage just doesn’t have anything with how to deal with today’s issues.
and Megan Kelly is a mod in the debate tonight - she'll be "neutral' like a snake.

I think what is happening to Hannity is that he is ticked that the RINO establishment is trying to push Mitt on us and their non-stop pummeling of Newt. In this case I agree with Sean. I am glad to see that the RINO establishments tactics are out there for all to see. I just hope enough voters see what is going on.

She should, but she won’t be. As far as I am concerned the entire Faux News group should be disqualified. In my eyes, they are no longer any better than CNN or any other MSM outlet.
I very much expect it to get bloody tonight.
