Herman Cain says he'd like to be secretary of Defense
LA Times ^ | Thursday December 15, 2011

Herman Cain is no longer running for president. He doesn't think he's likely to be picked as the eventual nominee's running mate, either. But he does have a Cabinet post in mind should the GOP win the White House next fall: secretary of Defense.

[....]

Cain shared the idea with ABC's Barbara Walters during her annual special on the "10 Most Fascinating People." And the veteran journalist was just a bit surprised.

Cain said he thought he'd be a good pick because he wants to "influence rebuilding our military the way it should be."

Walters, still stunned, reminded Cain of his struggles during the campaign with topics like Libya. And there is always Uzbeki-beki-beki-stan-stan.

"I have been doing my homework ever since that difficulty," Cain said.

I like Cain and would want him to be..... Ambassador to France!!

bc they could not care too much about his ‘personal’ issues and he would be good at standing up to foreign policy b.s. there, even if he needed to learn a few things.

I am very, very annoyed with Mr. Cain. I was a big supporter of his. (I had to take TWO bumper stickers off my car!) But he’s not ready for any public office. EITHER he was stupid enough to think that his past transgressions would stay buried . . . OR he didn’t have the guts to fight baseless accusations. Either possibility sucks. Go home, Herman, and start up a new pizza chain. But I don’t want to see your face for a while.

"Cain didn’t know if Pakistan was friend or foe?"

Is anyone certain of that?

Really quite embarrassing; Herman, bless his heart, is not the man we first hoped he was.

He’s a multi-millionaire and gave up a very popular radio show to run because he wanted to make our country a better place again! I’m sure he feels the same now despite the smear campaign. But he doesn’t “need a job”.

That’s right - it depends on what day it is, and whether it’s before or after our yearly check arrives at their door.

I supported Duncan Hunter last time. Would think Allen West would make a great SOD also.

If he were the only one to think about, I honestly believe he’d still have been in the race - but his wife isn’t the political, publicly ambitious type. It’s probably one of the reasons why he loves her, but it’s a loss for our country (imo).

I heard it had a lot to do with the death threats against his grandchildren.

Seriously? There’s no doubt he posed a major threat to the Left and had to be taken out.

Who cares? For God’s sake. Nobody said he “needed” a job. Did they? Did ANYONE say Herman Cain NEEDED a job?? He made it clear from the beginning, while he was running for president, that he would accept a VP job and now he wants a cabinet job. It appeared to a lot of people he was always looking for a gig, no matter what it was. Maybe the Hannity freedom concerts will take care of the hunger. I don’t really care.

I Think there was something with that last woman. Maybe he slipped up with her years ago, and she had been blackmailing him ever since. He wanted to spare his family any shame. I don’t see him as a quitter.

But I do wonder about his judgment: he knew he had women problems. Why would he run for Prez? The only way to do it with skeletons is to bring them all out and mea culpa all over the place, be honest and apologetic. The American people are very forgiving, but we hate being fooled.

And I am a Cain fan. But he didn’t handle the eruptins well.

Yes West’s a possibility, buy Duncan L. Hunter had 26 years as chair of the Armed Services Committee, so he is really super qualified.
