Rubio Slams Administration For Abuses Of People-To-People Cuba Program
Right Side News ^ | 12/16/12 | Marco Rubio

Excerpt and video of Rubio's speech: "Here's my challenge to the Administration and the State Department: You're not going to change your mind, but at least examine how this is being implemented because this is a charade." Washington, D.C. (Right Side News) – During a Senate floor speech this evening, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio highlighted the rampant abuses that occur under the Obama Administration’s “people-to-people” program. As part of his remarks, Rubio read from several days’ worth of dancing and music appreciation-heavy travel itineraries that are currently licensed under this program. Below is an excerpt of the speech: “There’s this sports show. I think it’s on ESPN on Sunday nights, where they review NFL highlights. And Michael Irvin, who was a great player, he has this segment called ‘Come on, man!’, where they put some ridiculous thing that happened during the day and he’ll say, ‘Come on, man!’

“When I look at this stuff, you know what I want to say? Come on, man. This is about promoting democracy and freedom in Cuba? This is not about promoting democracy and freedom in Cuba. This is nothing more than tourism. This is tourism for Americans that, at best, are curious about Cuba and, at worst, sympathize with the Cuban regime.

Rubio, like my Governor Nikki Haley, are becoming more and more dissimilar with the Tea Party that took their names off the nobody list.

The RINO establishment wins every time except at the polls--and both will suffer for their vanity and short sightedness.

If I can travel to China I should be able to travel to Cuba. It’s simply none of the government’s business where I go.

Marco Rubio's loyalty is to La Raza first.

Define 'natural born Citizen', Marco.

This is an issue that Cuban-American politicians in South Florida have walked a thin line on for years.

They are totally in favor of Cubans in this country being allowed to visit Cuba whenever they want and to send unlimited quantities of US dollars and supplies to their family members in Cuba, notwithstanding that this is a huge financial windfall to the Castro economy.

Yet when anyone else wants to travel there, they raise a huge uproar about how we should not be supporting a communist state.

I think that it should be consistent one way or the other.

“Marco Rubio’s loyalty is to La Raza first.”

Really? When did Americans of Cuban descent decide to join La Raza? Thought the organization was filled with socialist and and separatist Mexicans.

Typical ignorance of the differences between various Hispanic cultures.

The only reason Cubans and Mexicans are lumped together is because the US Government created the category of “Hispanic”.

While they do share a similar Spanish colonial heritage and language, the individual cultures of each nation that developed after colonization is no more similar than the UK and the United States. Sure there is a similarity, but by no means are they all the same.

If both he and Piyush Amrit “Bobby” Jindal did so together at a news conference pointing that they, like the Usurper US Resident, aren't Natural Born Citizens do you think the MSM would report it?

Then just leave the country for wherever and then tear up your passport. Total freedom as you want it without the government worrying about you.

"Asked if he thought he was eligible to be president, Rubio demurred. "I'm not going to answer that because I'm not thinking about it. All I care about is my qualifications to serve in the Senate."

Rubio and the republicans are planning to take another steaming crap on our Constitution.

On the conservative demand that immigration laws be enforced Sen Rubio said and I quote, “Tone it down!”

If he does not believe in vigorously enforcing the law, well, all his words are suspect to THIS Tea Party conservative.

No, thanks. I would want to return, of course. Hopefully to a country that realizes there are bigger fish to fry & treats their citizens like adults.

I understand that, per Customs, the biggest violators of the Cuban embargo (in terms of Cuban rum, cigars and similar products) are...exiled Cubans. I actually heard that sentiment from one once—”I hate the Castro government and everything it does...at the same time, why shouldn’t I be able to have a taste of home once in a while”.
