“Last Christmas, I gave you my Heart.” All copies need to be sent down the memory hole and removed from existance.

#5 of your worst is actually by John Lenin (intentional
mis-spelling)

I have been on a college radio station for a long time and play some Christmas (and related) music—some good ones

Irish Rovers—Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer (BETTER
than Elmo and Patsy)

Rash of Stabbings—A Christmas Song (Providence RI band:
“No jingle bells in my heart, no Frosty...because Christ was
born and crucified, that’s the meaning”. It’s on YouTube)

Stan Freberg—Christmas Dragnet, Green Chri$tma$, and
I’m getting Nuttin’ For Christmas. The middle one is
about the commercializiation, and “(we forget) whose
birthday we’re celebrating”.

The Wombles—Wombling Merry Christmas. Little known in US;
a spinoff of some children’s books about little furry critters who clean up litter, etc. Rockin’ tune done by
Mike Batt. Catchy tune, great riff, sax etc. All day long we will be wombling in the snow, we wish you a wombling
Merry Christmas.

James Brown—Let’s Make Christmas Mean Something This Year
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Se-OiVPEiPY
Waiting up for “Sanny claw”, the Godfather of Soul gives thanks to God...number one... Screamin’ soul.

Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmas Time” song completely Paternos his legacy as a songwriter for the Beatles.

OMG, that's so true. What a horrible song. That and "Santa Baby"--sorry, I can't picture Santa as a sex symbol.

I’m fond of a number of Bob Rivers’ Twisted Christmas songs:

Chipmunks Roasting on an Open Fire

Walkin Round in Women’s Underwear

Wreck the Malls

GRANDMA GOT DISMEMBERED BY A CHAINSAW

Yeah, 12 Pains of Christmas by Bob Rivers—at one time a WAAF Worcester (WRKO’s sister station) host as part of “Bob and Zip”, then for many years a morning guy on KZOK Seattle (now gone from there I think). Rivers also did “I Am Santa Claus”
to the tune of “I Am Ironman”

My mom told me about that song. The first time I heard it I cried.

I then asked her if she thought if Mary did know. No I COULD NOT imagine holding the Savior in my arms, let alone kissing His face!

I wish I knew a way to get you the Roger Wagner Chorale album to you. It’s called Joy To The World. I believe you could find the album online, just not in cd form. I had that done so I could put it on my computer.

Absolutely stunning. I lost Mary Did You Know when I had to reboot my computer from day one because of a nasty virus. I wish I could get it again. There was one version I LOVE but can’t remember who sang it.

Dr Demento has played some truly demented songs, like:

I found the brains of Santa Claus underneath my bed
They were in a pickle jar, I wonder if he’s dead
Oh they smell like dried up tuna and look more green than red
I found the brains of Santa Claus, I wonder if he’s dead

See #90. To each his own. BTW, I always thought Eartha Kitt singing “Santa Baby” was a display of talent.

The worst (not on the list) is Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire

When our oldest daughter was about 3 she sang, "Chet's Nuts Roasting On An Open Fire."

My wife and I would both say, "Poor Chet."

I love that song by Reba.

The part that makes me cry is when she says “ when you kiss your little baby, you kiss the face of God”. I break-up every time.

That is the greatest song.

Worst: Greg Lake “I believe in Fater Christmas.” very nice music, but the lyrics are not those of a believer.

Yes--I agree. The music is beautiful, but the message is not.

We like all styles of music and like to play a wide variety of Christmas songs. We have way too many favorites at my house. Here are just a few of our favorites that come to mind:

The Prayer sung by Andre Bocelli
Bach/Gounod Ave Maria
O Holy Night
Silent Night
Ring those Christmas Bells
Silver Bells
I sure do love those Christmas Cookies (reminds me of my dad and hubby stealing the fresh baked cookies as soon as they come out of the oven)
Santa Clause is coming in a Boogie Woogie Choo Choo Train by the Tractors (this is just plain fun!)
Baby it’s Cold Outside by Dean Martin
White Christmas sung by Bing Crosby
Because of Christmas Day by Rasputin (not sure if this is the right name for it, but we love this version of the song)
Fiesta de Navidad by Celia Cruz
The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole

We also like the Hawaiian Christmas song by Bing Crosby,
Dominic the Donkey by Danny Kaye, Suzy Snowflake sung by Rosemary Clooney and the Marvelous Toy. This is primarily because our children used to sing and dance to them all over the house when they were little. Fond memories have endeared these songs to our family.

And lastly I want a Hippopatumus for Christmas (Because my daughters performed this when they were little for a school show at ages 5 & 7 and it accidentally turned into they best comedy performance you have ever seen.)

Imagine two adorable little girls dressed in red skating outfits trimmed in white maribo with santa hats on, wearing white tights and black tap shoes. They had a well polished and perfectly rehearsed song and dance routine. Each child had their own microphone until the actual performance when one of the school microphones broke, so they ended up having to share a microphone.

What ensued was the two girls each vying for the one lone microphone and gently trying to get the other child to move over. The audience burst into laughter and the younger child inspired by the laughter really worked the audience upstaging the older sibling. After several gentle attempts to share the microphone with her younger sister, the older daughter finally shrugged her shoulders and rolled her eyes and shook her head at the audience and attempted to do the routine as rehearsed with the younger daughter doing the routine and laughing as she sang and danced totally hogging the microphone.

I think the actual performance turned out to be even more entertaining to the audience than the original routine would have been if everything had happened as rehearsed. This routine took place 10 years ago, and the parents of their school friends still mention to me how cute it was every Christmas. The performance ended up being quite reminiscent of the comedy routines that Danny Kay or Bob Hope would do with others where they joked around while singing together.
