Va. AG backs off call for GOP primary rule changes (Perry, Gingrich)

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli is no longer pushing for a change in rules that kept two candidates off the state's March 6 Republican presidential primary ballot.

The Republican Party of Virginia determined that Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry had failed to submit the required 10,000 signatures of registered voters. The candidates have gone to court to challenge their exclusion from Virginia's ballot, which will include only Mitt Romney and Ron Paul.

Cuccinelli, a Republican, said in a statement Saturday that ballot access laws need to be changed not for any candidate, but for the voters. On Sunday, however, Cuccinelli issued a statement saying that while he favors reducing hurdles to getting on the Virginia ballot, he "will not support efforts to apply such changes to the 2012 Presidential election."

Now looks like ballots are being printed!

The Grinch had better get his $54#$% down to that activist judge ASAP, if he wants on the ballot.

Only paper ballots are absentee, same as always. And they are only counted when you have a close race. The problem here is the same one as algore in Florida, you do not change the rules after you play the game. The supreme court has already said so.

So they had been printed as I wrote, but still need to be printed. If they were allowed on the ballots, they would have had time, correct? With machines, it would have taken a quick tweak to put the names on. Makes sense. Thanks.

LOL. No doubt they would blame me for the Grinch not getting enough legal signatures for the Va ballot.

And I am sure they would not like the fact that the Grinch’s
ability to get on the ballot will now depend on an “ACTIVIST” judge, who the Grinch recently said he wanted to remove.

Newt also had the signatures but they were challenged. The rumor was a worker forged some signatures. We don't know if it's true, or how many, or even if they were forged. It looks like a Romeny dirty trick to me. Newt was and still is,( I think) leading in the polls there. Newt had about 1500 sigs more than needed. How many "Mickey Mouses" can there be? A worker usually comes up with a couple hundred signatures and he had way more than needed.

We have heard nothing more about it since it came out. Sounds kinda like Cain's women, if you ask me. 4 or 5 women came out of nowhere and Cain resigns and "poof" no more women stories. It seems to me there would be stories and investigations galore on these "Fake" sigs, but hey, Newt's back in 4th position now, so we don't need to know anymore.

Sometimes I feel like we are in Cuba or Venezuela. Romney is just another Dole or McCain and we will accept whatever the RINO's shove down our throat. I wanted the Tea Party to take over the Repub party like we have with the Christian movement, the gun lobby, and military factions. We may have to have our own party like Lincoln did. The Rockefeller Repubs just want a tax cut and don't give a rat's ass about anything else.

Since you are in Virginia, I'll ask:

I've seen a couple of articles (bloggers) posted that say Romney & Paul made the ballot because they were grandfathered in from 2008; not because they had collected signatures.

However, none of the wire service stories I've seen posted have mentioned anything about that, but implied ALL the candidates had submitted petitions.

Would you please clarify which version is correct?

Thanks

Remember the RINOs say it is Mitts turn. GO NEWT!

The same attitude, by the GOP elites, gave us Gerald Ford in 1976 and later Dole and McCain. Had they not backed Ford, a good man but with zero charisma and personality, we would have never had Jimmy Carter. In 1980 they even backed George H. W. Bush over Reagan. After all, it was Bush's turn and he had been a good soldier and had climbed the political ladder like he was supposed to. They weren't going to let some dumb B movie actor bump him from his spot. We know how that turned out.

Communist Goal Number 15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.

We know they took over the Democrat Party long ago and I am becoming convinced that they have now co-opted most of the Republican pollsters, political consultants and old party leaders. They are determined to block any true conservative from the ballot. We should remind them of their attitude toward Reagan and the results. Of course, that assumes their goals are the same as ours but I wonder.

Here’s a statement by the RPV that clears up most of the mis-information floating around:
http://www.rpv.org/node/1037

No one was ‘grandfathered’ in. These petitions were dated- all new.
Romney had 15,000 raw siganatures so his weren’t verified, Paul only had 14,000- and some- so they were verified.

Romney and Paul had organizations already in Va from past runs so that helped them.
