2012 Open Primary States: The key to Ron Paul's Republican Nomination
www.dailypaul.com ^ | 03/06/2011 | Uknown

Posted on 01/03/2012 1:32:44 PM PST by throwback

Since Obama is a strong incumbent for the Democrats for 2012 there will not be any viable Democratic Primaries in 2012. There are 17 states with an Open Primary where many Democrats and Independents will have the opportunity to vote for Ron Paul in the Republican Primary without registering Republican.

Ron Paul's anti-war message of peace and his stance against the Neo-conservatives will resonate strong with many registered Democrats and Independents.

We must organize and put the strongest efforts in these states to encourage Democrats and Independents to vote for Ron Paul and capture all the Delegates of these Open Republican Primary States:

Alabama (50) Arizona (Semi-closed, with primaries open only to unaffiliated or unrepresented voters, except for the Libertarian primary.)(57) Arkansas (36) Georgia (75) Hawaii (Open primary for state, local, and congressional races; caucus system for presidential races.)(20) Idaho (32) Indiana (46) Massachusetts (All races' primaries open for "unenrolled"/unaffiliated voters only)(41) Michigan (59) Mississippi (37) Missouri (53) South Carolina (50) Tennessee (58) Texas (152) Vermont (17) Virginia (49) Wisconsin (42)

Total delegates for our taking in these Open Republican Primaries: 874 (1,212 needed to win)

Is this site a legit Paul site? If so, it's distrubing that the Paul supporters rely on dems to win the Republican nomination.

I think it’s perfectly legit. Paul supports - democrats - libertarians - fringe kooks who think 9/11 was an inside job.... One thing is for sure. They are all mentally unstable.

RoPaul has no place on the GOP ticket.

If there was ever a more cogent argument for CLOSED primaries (and caucuses) I have not seen it.

Paul? That old “F” is to whacked and his supporters are too stupid to understand what he is saying.

Ron Paul drones are all but certified cultists. There is nothing that Ron Paul has done or said which gets any objections from his drones. Classic zombie cult.

Open primary states are the same reason that we had McCain last time. The dems did their “Operation Chaos” on us before Rush even coined the term...

Paul should be an excellent third candidate in the final race.
He would steel voices to Bozobama

So, this is how the Dims are planning to reelect Obozo. By voting for the nutcase R-U-N Paul in open primary states, and changing party affiliation for the primary in closed primary states and voting for Paul. It’s unfortunate that so-called conservatives supporting Paul will fall for this BS.

They were pulling the same stunt with Pat Leahy in Vermont back in the 90’s...since Leahy had no primary opposition; Dems crossed over to vote for the worst of the GOP candidates; then that candidate would get slaughtered by Leahy in the general. Same thing happens to New Hampshire...which GOP candidate will ‘independents’ (in other words, Democrats) support next week? Stay tuned...

So the only way Paul can win the Republican nomination is to get liberals to cross lines and vote for him.
So why Paul supports is Paul a conservative? Oh, he is not.
When liberals and anti-American sots support him, you know who he really is.

“Open primary states are the same reason that we had McCain last time. The dems did their “Operation Chaos” on us before Rush even coined the term...”

If dems were voting for republicans, who was responsible for the ‘historic’ turnouts of dems voting for Obama or Hillary? I can’t believe there are enough more dems than republicans to vote for Obama and Hillary in such big numbers, and have enough leftover to sabotage the republican vote as well. Or can it be that conservatives were the ones voting strategically for Obama and Hillary, leaving moderate and liberal republicans to vote for McCain?

I have never understood why anybody would agree to open primaries in the first place.

I don't recall if there was historic turn-out in open primary states for the Dems, but if there was, I would stand corrected, or your premise that both the dems and GOP voted in each other's primary may be true.

In either event, open primaries do not produce the best candidates. It produces the worst candidate for at least one party.

This year, I don’t think they are delusional.

It looks like we’re going to have (from a conservative standpoint) the worst-case-scenario comming out of Iowa/NH. Romney vs a split conservative field of 2-3 (maybe even 4) conservatives. Given the proportional assigning of delegats instead of winnner take all, and (2) Romney will probably be stuck in the mid-20’s all the anti-Romneys are likely to stay in the race for a long time.

With the Dem cross-over vote, and Libertarians voting in the GOP primary (GA for example, has a solid 5% Libertarian party voting block), Ron Paul could easily end up with 20-30% of the vote in many states. Certainly enough to give Romney a run.

Of course, this only works if the conservative/anti-Romney vote remains split. At the moment, I see Gingrich, Santorum, Perry, and Bachmann all staying in the race at least through super Tuesday—guaranteeing a split conservative vote.
