Seniors aren't either!
At first I agreed with you. Then I got to wondering- If Mama had a male shack-up honey, what terminology would she use in place of partner? (I've been away from that scene for a long, long time....)
Slut pix are not appropriate for yearbooks....I wonder if she has a different view of “headshots” than the rest of us.
Oh, we teachers fight this every day in the public schools. High school girls come to school dressed like this every single day even though it violates the dress code at every school I’ve ever worked at!
We call parents who often DEFEND this type of dress! I’ve also heard from parents, “well, she’s wearing more than you’d see at the beach!” Well, this ISN’T the beach! It’s a place of business.
Some of the girls change before they get to school at a friend’s house or in the girls’ bathroom. My very brave colleague asks parents why they allow their daughter to attend school every day dressed like a hooker
My daughter once asked me why girls came to her school dressed like this, I told her it’s because THAT’s all they’ve got. Funny, I never see girls dressed like this in the honors or AP classes.
Not appropriate for a high school yearbook.
And yes, to answer a previous query: Put cameras in the classrooms! I have NO problem with the public getting a good, honest view of what goes on behind school doors.
I bet you do have some stories to tell.
I’m impressed that this school in Durango has a standard. I hope they don’t back down. Shame on the girl’s mother for endorsing her bad behavior.
Did her parents allow her to wear that hooker outfit? What were the parents and teachers thinking? Is she in the glitzy pageant world? It looks like something that toddler wore.
Leave it out of the yearbook and let her tantrum all she wants.
That is the basis for my long standing proposal for Social Security reform:
Pay Social Security to young folks, who are banned from working until they reach 30; then the benefits are dropped, and they have to work the rest of their lives, paying into the system.
"Retirement" thus comes when one is young enough to enjoy it, while the work is done after one has become old enough to have some stability and direction in life.
Also, that gives a disincentive for Seniors to lobby for benefit increases. ;-)
“I’m appalled that the administration disregarded the original vote by the student editors”
That’s the very reason why all student publications have oversight from school administrators. Not that they are necessarily geniuses, but they do know what school policy and code issues are, and they’re the ones ultimately liable for a bigtime screwup, not the students.
As far as censorship goes, I know of no constitutional right to a racy yearbook photo. As long as the school’s dress policy has been consistent, I would imagine there is very little the ACLU or the student and her mother can do.
I think this is all a big publicity stunt anyway. Mom and daught looking for their 2 minutes of fame and maybe a chance at some of that reality shlock money.
good lord..
Steven Hirsch has the ink dry honey...
Does she have a back problem?
If I were her dad I’d make her wear a brace to straighten her posture.
Some kind of scoliosis or a broomstick has been inserted would be my guess.
Is that the yearbook pic or one posted in a phone booth for a Call Out Service?
They didnt make them like that when I was in High School. Good thing too or else a lot of guys would have flunked out.
The photo Spies submitted shows her wearing a yellow skirt with a black shawl that exposes her shoulders and midsection.
I have noticed in some older yearbooks it was a tradition for the girls to all be photographed with their shoulders fully exposed to a remarkable degree, even in cases where the boys are all wearing suits.
I think a lot of people nowadays would see this pose requirement as being a little weird and not so modest.
Heh... a rising porn star!
She could make her school famous!
That's exactly the way my HS yearbook is. Early '70s.
Pulling the ole’ censorship argument, eh? Can she go topless or in her underpants if she wants all under the grounds of freedom of speech, Mom?
