Tony Blankely, a noted conservative author and commentator and former editorial page editor of The Washington Times, died Sunday morning, according to family sources. He was 63 and had been battling stomach cancer.
Mr. Blankley was an executive vice president of the Edelman public-relations firm in Washington, a visiting senior fellow in national-security communications at the Heritage Foundation, a syndicated newspaper columnist and an on-air political commentator for CNN, NBC and NPR.
He was also a regular weekly guest on The McLaughlin Group.
Mr. Blankley was editorial page editor of The Times from 2002 to 2007, and from 1990 to 1997 he served as press secretary and general adviser to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

RIP.
Another book for me to read. Thanks.
Sad to hear. RIP.
Wow was he the kid in Lassie?
Tony Snow had colon cancer -- the silent killer with rarely any symptoms until it's too late.
God bless you, Mr. Blankly. You were one of the good guys.
>>Damn, too young. I always liked Tony.<<
I agree. He was sharp as a whip, had a great sense of humor and knew how to separate analysis from personal opinion.
Only a few years older than me — jeeze.
Prayers for the family.
Good man, too young. God bless Tony and his family.
I’m going to miss Tony. He was one of the few columnist and commentators today who actually made sense.
I was really worried when I saw how much he lost weight in his last few TV appearances.
I suspected he was battling cancer. I was right.
R.I.P., Mr. Blankley.
PING!
No. That was Jon Provost
Guys who died before their time and whom I really miss:
Tony Blankley
Tony Snow
Eric Breindel
Lee Atwater
Some time ago I saw an article from Tony and remarked that I hadn’t seen anything from his remarkable mind recently.
He was a happy warrior for the conservative cause and never stooped to ad hominem attacks.
Like Tony Snow he may be followed as a model but cannot be replaced.
The obits say he was on Lassie. I don't know if he was the kid -- also on Sky King, Highway Patrol, Make Room for Daddy.
But there are only three entries for him on imdb: Highway Patrol, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, and the movie, The Harder They Fall. Maybe imdb isn't so good with early television credits.
RIP Tony and prayers for your family.
Blankley is a Big Loss, one of the intelligent ones. RIP.
Rest in peace, Tony.
What a shame. I always liked Tony. RIP
Rest In Peace
RIP.
