Mitt Romney had a remarkable exchange on NBC this morning that may not be as attention-grabbing about his “fire people” gaffe — but may actually be just as revealing and significant. And I hope it gets some attention.
In it, Romney suggested that concerns about Wall Street conduct and inequality are driven by “envy,” and even said we needn’t have a public debate about inequitable wealth distribution in this country.

According to Romney. We should ignore how all of gov't and monetary policy since the house of cards collapsed has been about implicitly and explicitly bailing out Wall Street. Nothing about how Wall Street CEOs made billions of dollars in compensation with the end result their companies were burned to the ground. I am as free market as anyone, but the current regime of heads I win tales you (tax payers) lose deserves to be criticized and examined.

Wow. Romney’s just digging himself a nice deep hole here.
Well let’s see if I understand this. We can’t talk about Obama’s church or anything to do about his relationships because that’s racist, and now we can’t talk about Bain because that’s anti-capitalism and envy.
We also can’t talk about Romney’s record as governor, and we also can’t see his tax returns.
And while you’re at it, we also can’t ask any questions about his religion or ask exactly who was he trying to convert to the Mormon religion in France.

Did anyone listen to Glenn Beck this AM? This guy is completely off his rocker. I’ve listened maybe 5 minutes over the past four weeks, and each time it’s the same thing, so I figure he must be talking incessantly about it.
He basically says today, that voters should track, on chaulk board of course, the record of Romney and Paul...(oh, and Santorum too), since they are the ONLY three viable candidate.
He doesn’t even mention Perry, and throws in that if Newt is the nominee we’re toast.
He goes on to then support the ideas of Ron Paul, while his dimwit side kick is talking up Romney.
Does this guy have any following? Does anyone attend any of his so called rallies? Is O ‘Reilly still inviting him on his show, and schmooching his @ss?
This guy is a nut job. Is anyone else feeling the same way about him?
Yeah, there is no such thing as greed. Solandra, Goldman Sachs, AIG, GM, that’s all good old capitalism at it’s finest. It’s just making money the easy way, by taking it from taxpayers. Nothing wrong with that as long as the taxpayers are dumb enough to allow it.
This is why ‘conservatives’ (and Newt) should avoid using leftist arguments against RINOs.
In the above Romney could be talking about Obama’s remarks yesterday, or he could be talking about some of the recent Republicans attacks on him regarding Bain. Romney has a trap here and many just walked into it.
This is as intellectually dishonest as Obama supporters who claim anyone who questions him is a racist.
We see now why he didn’t want to attend the debate where Trump would be the moderator. The less he has to talk the better. His handlers know that. Just stand with your hands in your pocket and we’ll work around you and do all your backstabbing for you.
Socialism is based on covetousness.
Socialists gain power by exploiting people’s covetousness of others’ property.
Ironically, they are more successful not in promising to give the covetors what the others have, but by promising to simply take it away from those who have.
My family and I can’t listen to him anymore. He was funny at times but when you need seriousness he’s looped.
I think Romney is right - to some extent.
The whole Occupy movement, the whole populist rhetoric is all about envy and covetousness. “You have stuff. I don’t. I want the government to give me your stuff.”
There is nothing inherently wrong with wealth. There is nothing inherently wrong with profit. Neither are evil in and of themselves. The fact that people are greedy is a completely different question. People have been greedy since before God gave us the 10 Commandments and human nature has not changed.
I think Romney was right (Good gosh, I’m almost choking on those words) to not buy into the line questioning. He didn’t handle it as well as he could have but I think he was right.

Actually, they're satisfied with "I want the government to take away your stuff."
Romney thinks a free market means granting the government the freedom to hide its collusion with large corporations.
One should remember that the fictional Dickens character, Ebeneezer Scrooge, also operated wholly within the law.
Just because it’s legal does not mean it’s good.
The golden rule of “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” seems to find little favor among some business people. It is replaced in their hearts by “Business is Business!”
Socialism is evil, capitalism is good. I firmly believe this.
Yeah, you’re probably right about that.
The rich love socialism, because it bars their competition.
