Gallup poll: Conservatives outnumber liberals

Conservatives continue to make up the largest segment of political views in the country, outnumbering liberals nearly two-to-one, according to a new poll Thursday.
The Gallup survey found that 40 percent of Americans consider themselves to be conservative; 35 percent consider themselves moderate; and 21 percent see themselves as liberal. The figures did not change from 2010.
For the third straight year, conservatives outnumbered both moderates and liberals.
Conservatives began outstripping moderates in 2008, and the percentage of moderates has declined steadily over the last two decades, from 43 percent 1992 to 35 percent in 2011.
In fact, both self-identified conservatives and liberals have risen in number since the early 1990s, indicating a growing polarization in American politics.
While self-identified conservatives dominate the Republican Party, making up 71 percent, the Democratic Party is more split - 39 percent of Democrats view themselves as liberal, and 38 percent consider themselves moderates.
Meanwhile, independents are mostly moderate (41 percent), but skew more towards conservatism (35 percent) than liberalism (20 percent).

Fortunately it isn't working.
if conservatives actually defended and spoke up against the left, their agenda like homosexual marriage, cross dressing and letting kids go into homosexual houses and then be given shots to stop the boy reaching puberty because the two homosexual women want to give him a sex change before he reaches puberty then we could have power.
Instead we split our votes in SC and FL, we seem to never stand and get organized like the left does and our talk radio hosts never get active like theirs do
I expect the NY Times to editorialize on this finding that this is proof that we need a small Liberal ruling class made up of the minority because the majority of the country is composed of Conservative “Bitter Clingers” that are just plain ignorant.
The only explanation of why the 21% of the country can get away hijacking the 79% that disagrees with them is the liberal media / liberal Hollywood. That’s probably the biggest challenge we conservatives face.
It does not matter what people say when they do not vote conservative. Just the existence of this Bum in the White House shows the American voter is not conservative. And only a few conservatives can be elected on a statewide vote in any state.
If this is really so, why do a majority of liberals continue to be put in office?
Could it be that many who think they are conservative are actually dunces who vote for liberals because it makes them feel good?
I question if many who think themselves conservate are truly so......
If true, then there is ZERO reason why Santorum can’t win this as he is the most conservative of all the candidates. Long marriage....ZERO cheating....great family...anti-abortion. Perfect candidate.
I’ve always been skeptical of this type of poll. It seems likely that liberals are more likely to consider their opinions ‘moderate’ and thus not label themselves liberal. I believe this was alluded to in Bernie Goldberg’s book Bias where he said that his obviously liberal colleagues at CBS always believed their opinions were middle of the road.
Don’t lump all the states in one basket. The South, if an independent country which by all rights they should be, would be a solidly conservative country. Thanks Lincoln. Sic semper tyrannis.
And that moderate and lib amount elected the idiot in chief over the 40% conservative. But then again, Rummnie calls himself a conservative. Oh well.
While I would like to believe that conservatives outnumber liberals by a 2-1 margin, I always take these polls with a grain of salt. That’s because I believe if you looked closer at the 35% “moderate” group, you would find a majority of liberals, marxists, and other assorted moonbats. Leftist are fundamentally dishonest people, otherwise they wouldn’t be leftists. They are constantly trying to redefine the center according to their moonbattery, and often describe themselves as “moderate”, “centrist”, and “nonpartisan”.
Now WA lawmakers are thinking of forcing queer marriage on that state
Just said in a couple of threads before this.
The south and the midwest are totally different countries compared to the west coast and the north east and yet we get told what should accept into their liberal agenda and they move down here telling us how it should be because that is how it is up there.
Lets face it if the west and the north east went on their merry way then I would lose no sleep over it but we know that in 20 years their new liberal utopia of illegals and queers would be ruined and the liberals then would be wanting to move back down here after screwing their new country up.

saw a sticker today which said”if the north is so good then why are you here?”
I went up to CT two years ago and it was like a different country.
I had the flag on the front and back of my van and some of them looked to be nearly having an heart attack.
One woman hit her husbands car and my wife heard her say “ O my look at that flag how dare they come up here”
Maybe they know how we feel then

I still say a moderate is someone who is embarrassed to admit they are a full blown flaming Leftist Liberal Progressive, and willing to sell this nation out at the drop of a hat.
