Sarah Palin Says She’d Vote for Newt
resdstate.com ^ | Jan 18, 2012 | Erick Erickson

Posted on 01/18/2012 11:43:23 AM PST by Jim Robinson

This will probably be the biggest news of the morning. Millions have wondered who Governor Palin would actually support. She’s making it crystal clear now.

On Fox News, Sarah Palin says if she lived in South Carolina she’d vote for Newt.

The next big question is whether Governor Perry decides to depart the race before or after Saturday. And if he departs, will he endorse Newt Gingrich, who wrote the introduction to Governor Perry’s book Fed Up!

With Palin’s endorsement, Rick Perry is now in a terribly awkward spot. If he departs before Saturday, he could be a hero for one of the non-Romney candidates. If he waits until Sunday and the race is close, as it appears to be, Rick Perry will rightly be remembered as the spoiler who handed Mitt Romney the nomination.

If Rick Perry and Sarah Palin both throw their lot behind Newt Gingrich, well, the Republican nomination might actually turn into a race instead of a coronation.

Why does anyone listen to Erick Erickson? Governor Palin said IF she was in South Carolina she’d vote for Gingrich -

No one is listening to Erickson. Palin did endorse Newt Gingrich in SC's primary, no question about it. Her comment "if I was voting in SC, I'd be voting for Newt" is her way of telling South Carolina supporters of her to back Newt. Her comment about further vetting of the candidates means we need to prevent Romney from getting the nomination if we are to have any chance of rescinding Obama/Romneycare.

A Gingrich-Santorum ticket would work well.

It would be great to have that deal made now, with Perry backing it.

Makes sense to me. If Perry and one of the other two conservatives pulled out, we would be spared a John McCain Replay at the Ballot Box.

Would have been happier if she was actually “IN” SC saying to “vote for Sarah Palin”!

Interesting, I didn’t know there were only 3 states in the union now. I thought there were 47 states still left to go in this PRIMARY election process. Now I can see I was so very wrong. My bad!

With the new rules, it is a longer process, let the gov stay.
If 10% or less, force him out.

Actually there are 54 more states left to go.

Santorum has no hope, either.

But Santorum, as shown by his endorsement of Spector, is a RNC creature. He’s in it solely to ensure Romney’s win. Accordingly, he won’t drop out.

***

He should be asked to drop out also. Not having honor should not be an escape clause from receiving legitimate criticism.

Santorum, drop out NOW!!!

I noticed the article about Erick Erickson calling for Perry to bow out is locked and points here. I’m believe that thread is important in and of itself.

Erickson is the chief editor of Red State—he runs the site. He pretty much controls everything that goes on there.

Perry made his nomination announcement at the Red State convention.

Red State has been in the bag for Perry from the get go. At times it looked like the Perry campaign was feeding them stories.

Red State is probably the largest hub of Perry supporters on the internet.

Now, what has probably been Perry’s largest supporter has officially come out and said he should drop out of the race and endorse Newt.

This is important. It would be like NRO saying Romney should get out of the race and endorse someone else.

Why is it only this one particular political pundit is able to say who they will vote for???

What about all the other pundits??? Kraut-hammer, Rush, hannity, Beck, whiny little juan williams, brett bear, little chrissy mathews, olberman, and the rest??

I'm sure all of us are terribly interested in who these pundits will vote for! I'm also sure that we'll all immediately change our minds and vote along with our favorite pundit!

}sarcasm off.

she never implied the candidates sucked.. she was trying to be say without saying it for Perry annd Santorum to bow out and back Gingrich because that’s the only way to help defeat Romney.. she knows a win for Gingrich in SC means Santorum and Perry are done and then it’s a two man race.. exactly what I said would happen is happening.. chunks of votes from Romney, Santorum and Perry are now going to Gingrich in SC.. that means exactly what Palin wants to happen.. Gingrich is catching Romney and Santorum and Perry are fading away ...that’s your race from here on out

I agree with you.

Santorum won’t drop out, as his purpose is to act as spoiler for Romney by drawing away the evangelical vote.

He is a 100% RNC creature.

Please stop. Large colored font won't make you correct or change Sarah Palin's intent.

Were she able to vote in South Carolina on Saturday, her vote would go to Newt Gingrich.

This is no surprise to me. I've been anticipating her to back Newt Gingrich, given his solutions to save and restore our Republic, which are very much like hers.

Newt Gingrich put a lot of thought and work into his preparation for running. His isn't a vanity run.

He was leading national and state polls before Romney and Paul went scorched earth on him in Iowa, and but for those vicious ads, Santorum wouldn't be in this race right now, so let's be serious. Sarah Palin isn't politically naive. She was nearly destroyed by similar vicious attacks. She knows politics better than all of us put together, and she obviously admires and likes Newt Gingrich very much for the very same reasons his supporters do here.

She wants the process to continue! She is unwilling to see Romney win without further vetting.

Remember, Sarah Palin was the first one to suggest that Romney needed to show his inome tax returns!

John McCain's Entire Opposition Research File on Romney

NO ROMNEY!

GO NEWT!!!!

Not quite. Presumably the process would go forward just as well if Santorum or Perry won in SC, or Paul for that matter. So that fact that of all the non-Romneys she mentioned Newt should tell you something.

Maybe not a 100% endorsement, but it’s pretty close, and it’s much more of a nod towards him than any of the others. Throw in that her husband already endorsed Newt, and it’s even closer. Do you really see her endorsing someone else?

I don’t know why she went halfway last night but I’d think if Newt wins SC that she’d endorse him before FL and possibly do some events.

Perhaps Rudy and Cain could follow suit, they’re still big names in FL.

It would really set things up as a showdown. Romney and the establishment(Bush41, Jeb Bush, Dole, McCain, Christie, Hunstman, Murkowski, etc...)on one side. Newt and the base/tea party(Palin, Cain, etc...) on the other.

Would certainly be an exciting 10 days.
